MS Maasdam - Sail Away - May 1

Recommended Posts

Come and join us today at 6 PM (new time) to watch the Maasdam sail out of Port Everglades for a repositioning cruise to Montreal.

She was scheduled to sail at 4 PM but according to Alberta Quilter who got an e-mail from HAL, the ship needs a deep cleaning due to the GI virus on board.

Barring a major disaster I will be on a train with no internet at sailaway time. Wishing those boarding the Maasdam a wonderful cruise.

Perhaps some of the sailaway gang will be watching today from Vancouver hotel rooms.

Or from home :(

Will try to be here but it's really a bit late for us (11pm) particularly as we're recovering from the journey home.

Will try to be here, but after spending most of yesterday afternoon at the hospital, I need to go to my cousin's house to start his packing-up. Fun, fun! Wish I were on a cruise. But prices are going down on the Alaska cruise we're looking at, so I may book today!

I will be out on the jetty waving in person. Wish I could be on board but I need to finish my math class so I can get the transcript sent to the maritime school. I have been dragging my feet in finishing it, too much time spent cruising (ok, one can never spend too much time cruising) and not enough studying. Going to miss my girl, Maasdam though, had to see her in person, even if from the dock, one more time before I start my maritime training in August.

To a TV news account--relative to noro aboard Maasdam--which aired in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area just a few minutes ago... During related commentary--not included in the clip--the newscaster indicated that the ship is not apt to sail until 7:00 PM or so...

Yeah, saw all the news crews over there. Captain can not be happy about this. I had gotten a visitor pass to get in to the port hoping to see gim (he is the reason I am here and heading to maritime school this fall) but they told me he was pretty busy with the CDC. Hopefully things will go smoother later.
