Unlimited Speciality Dining

We will be cruising on Celebrity Reflection in December. Upon doing some research, I found some websites that mentioned a package that could only be bought while on board. It provided unlimited dinners in the speciality dining venues as well as some lunches. It was $29 per person per day. I was wondering if this was still being offered or if this is an old topic. Thanks!

FG: That is not correct. There is such a package but it is very expensive. We were on the reflection last year and did the five night package. I wish we did all seven because the dining room is terrible anymore.

You are talking about a different package than the OP is. The 5 night, you pick the restaurant the first night, then they pick the next four. The package that the OP is asking about, you choose the restaurants you want, and you can go every night if you wish.

Be careful with those broad general statements. We just spent 14 nights on Silhouette and had a great experience in the MDR. And there IS an Ultimate Dining Package for $29/pp/day.

Yesterday I tried to pre-buy the $29 per day Unlimited Pkg - I've had it before. Even going thru special Customer Services they would not let me buy in advance of boarding.

The new suite perk (1 night free specialty) and general signups for specialties usually limits the Unlimited to 12 packages available, so act quickly on boarding.

Besides 7 specialty dinners you get Bisto-5 free since you are NOT in MDR.

I would not do unlimited on a ship with just 2 restaurants - gets repetitive fast.

GOOD LUCK (except on my Reflection cruise until I get my purchase);)

Thank you! We've found the food in the Eclipse MDR to be very good to sometimes excellent. We found one pax(we were all checking the menu for the night's dinner) who claimed the food was absolutely deplorable(her words)I asked a group of pax standing right near her their opinion of the food. Their response was good to very good. The woman was watching when I pointed her out & said.."Well, she said it was deplorable". One guy spoke up & said there's always some "putz" who does nothing but bitch about everything & she fits the bill. She rather quickly walked away with a more than a few snickering as she left. I kind of felt they knew her & had quite the opinion.

You were on the Reflection? Please give us a very detailed description about the food experience, besides terrible. We've been twice on the eclipse & found the MDR food very good to at times excellent. We're both foodies & work in the food industry, so we're not talking Applebees here! Edited by keithm

The Ultimate Dining Package is still available on cruises where demand for specialty dining is not/is not expected to be too high. Thus, it is not normally available on 5-night or shorter cruises. Availability is always limited and you need to ask about it as early as possible. There is usually a specialty dining desk at check-in - usually next to the suite check-in desk.

I think that it is still unclear how the new suite restaurant and suite perks for RS and above will affect the availability of the Ultimate Dining Package. There were many suite guests who ate solely in the specialty restaurants who will now choose to eat in Luminae but other higher-end suites guest may eat more in the specialty restaurants now that they do not have to pay and, at least on our latest cruise, are being positively encourage to eat in the specialty restaurants..

Where available, it costs US$29 per night and gives you unlimited specialty dinners, lunches in specialty restaurants when offered and any meal in Bistro on Five.

I am contemplating this even though we are not really foodies. I just want the option to not take formal clothes and have quite a bit of onboard credit.

I also have a couple of questions -- for this package, does the $29 pp include tax / tip or is there a 15% - 18% additional charge added to this?

Do you have to book reservations upon boarding or is it more like Blu where you can go whenever you choose?

Thanks in advance.

It is $29.00 p/p a day, must be paid and reserved on board, there generally is a table set-up upon boarding. When my in-laws did it in June on Summit with just two restaurants they felt the seven days were covered nicely with choices completely enjoying both Normandie, and Qsine and did not feel at all to be redundant. Enjoy!

We were on Reflection in December, and MDR was as good, if not better than any of our 27 cruises. And I don't do Applebees either.

In fairness, we only had 3 MDR dinners (other 4 nights were specialty).

The price is all inclusive @ $29pp/day (includes gratuities) and you must purchase for the whole cruise. There is a limited number of packages and only available on Day 1 of the cruise. A 7 day cruise will cost $203 per person.

The package allows you the choice of any specialty restaurant each evening, a lunch when available in Murano or Tuscan, breakfast and lunch in Bistro on Five / Porch every day or any day of your choice. You are required to make the evening reservations as normal, it is not turn-up when you choose whilst the breakfast and lunch is just that.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to thank you for your answer. It sounds fabulous until you got to the part where we need to make reservations. May still inquire about it, though. We have a lot of shipboard credit on our next cruise and aren't too interested in excursions. We could always spend it in the casino but what's the fun in that??

Back off the Equinox today! We got this for $29 a day. They were also doing the "Ultra Package" which was c$99 a day this included the premium drinks package (which we already had).

It was really good, only thing was we did start to get a bit bored as this was our third X cruise and had dined in all the restaurants a few times before and the menus were the same.

Perhaps, but isn't it better than seeing the same MDR menus on those same cruises?

We did the unlimited dining package on Silhouette last year and it was great, I would definitely do it again. We're on Summit in a few weeks but I won't bother doing it there because it doesn't have Lawn Club Grill or Tuscan.

We have had this Ultimate Dining Package on many occasions and agree that on a say 14 night cruise the menus do get repetitive. In Murano they will offer you some alternatives just ask, we had Steak Diane, Prawn Thermadore just to mention a few.

How early to get on board did you have to go to get the unlimited specialty dining package? Trying to decide when to get on board to try for it when we are on reflection in December for our honeymoon!

General rule of thumb for us, is we try to show up about 11am after a leisurely breakfast and morning at some local hotel, maybe do some last minute errands and end up at the ship sometime after that goal, but still before it is too busy. We board pretty leisurely, but it isn't empty, nut no lines and people who showed up at 10am and had to wait are already gone from the terminal. We may walk around the ship, and maybe an hour later or so, say at 12:30 sit down for lunch, and then still have a bit of time to explore the ship when we're done, cabins are usually ready at 1pm so if we're not asleep somewhere on deck or by the pool, we head to our cabin by 2pm ish.

I think if you get there in that 11ish time frame, and stop right by the desk after they hand you champagne as you walk onboard, you'll be good to go, but of course, the earlier, the safer.

Happy sailing,

Jenna

Where on Celebrity Silhouette would we expect to find the desk set up for purchasing the ultimate dining package?

Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

More like, where wouldn't you find them set-up?

Expect a desk, right after you board, between stepping foot on the ship and the elevator, and again, when you leave the elevator, as you get off on the deck with the pool and trough, cough, I mean buffet

You won't be able to miss the opportunity.

Happy sailing,

Jenna

But do all of the spots sell the Ultimate Dining Package? I will admit it's been over a year since I purchased it on Silhouette, but at that time, you had to go to the main specialty dining stand outside the section where the restaurants were located. Do they still sell only a limited number per cruise?

I guess that may apply on an S-Class ship, but not on an M-Class.

The do sell limited numbers, or sometimes none.

If they aren't for sail in spot A (when you board), they'll certainly point you to the correct spot B.

Happy sailing,

Jenna
