Dear Carnival .... Pet Peeves

Carnival tried to ban smoking on the Paradise. They found it cut into casino and alcohol revenues.
'

Paradise started as a no-smoking ship. We sailed it shortly after it was introduced. As nonsmokers we liked it and wish they still had the option. I can't believe non-smokers don't drink or gamble. I think the change was more due to the fact that Carnival did not want to enforce its rules for fear of "offending" the transgressors.

A 4 oz glass of wine!!??!! That's not a glass - that's a splash in the bottom of my glass.:p Does anyone drink just 4 oz of wine? Seriously though, even the standard restaurant pour (which always looks skimpy to me) is 5 oz. I've never heard of a 4 oz glass of wine. Hmmm, perhaps I drink too much wine.:o:p

I have a glass that will hold a whole bottle. Great for those stressful times when I need "Just one glass" of wine :D

Next time tell that 7 year old you will break his little leg if he jumps in again. See how quick he runs and gets his parents, then you can have a talk to them about how they should watch their child.

I have a feeling that if he has the type of parents who'll just let him run wild while they nap , they'll be the type to come out throwing punches...;)

And I will say that NO SMOKING can be done in a casino..we frequent Palace Casino Resort in Biloxi, MS. They have tons of folks in there all the time! Plus several casino workers told me they love working there, one mentioned a friend who working in a "smoking" casino who never smoked in her life but because of her exposure on the job she ended up with cancer.

My only Peeve is the cattle calls that people cause because they either won't listen or want to be first.

Our last cruise on Magic, docking in Cozumel, the CD advised people to wait until the ship was docked and cleared before proceeding to deck 1 for debarkation. There was a line fwd up the stairs to deck 3 for people waiting and hour before the clear was given. Blocking emergency exit routes before we were docked.

On Triumph in 2011, my daughter was bumped and fell down a couple flights of stairs because people stampeded into the dining room. We were not waiting to enter, we waited until 5 mins after the time to enter.

End of cruise debarkation, people do not wait until they are called. I've seen a mob trying to get off the ship. I know these people are not Plat or Diamond. Maybe FTTF, but wait until your section is called.

OK my rant is done.

Because obviously your experience once is indicative of the norm

No that was just the most recent example. There are some really rude people out there. They are everywhere but we are discussing cruise ships right now. The loud noisemakers seem to be around 20ish and think they own the ship. Probably their first cruise or trip of any kind without mom & dad. Also has a lot to do with the amount of alcohol they consume. Thats just my observation.

Why does nobody consider the possibility of stepping outside of the room and asking people politely to move to their conversation because you're trying to sleep? Carnival can't be everywhere at all times on the ship. Seems like it would result in more immediate gratification.

Because you never know what kind of people you will be dealing with. Not everyone is comfortable with confrontation especially since the cabin is your home for a few days. Sometimes it's better to remain anonymous and not "offend" the loud talkers or the music players at 3am. Let Carnival handle it.

You would think people would have common sense and common courtesy to recognize people are in their rooms and maybe trying to sleep or nap. Maybe if they saw my "Snoozin" sign on my door, that would send a trigger keep it down.

My thing I would like to see is the taco bar open for more than just lunch - I think both it and the Guys Burgers should also be open late night for those wanting something different. Our upcoming cruise we have 6 port days in a row and with having excursions I will miss the tacos every day due to the hours they are open. Would love to see that expanded.

Agreed! alternating which one of these is open for a late night snack would be amazing! Pizza just doesn't do it for me all the time.

POPCORN! POPCORN! POPCORN! Please serve better popcorn for the movies on the pool deck. The popcorn is awful! I've been on numerous Carnival cruises on different ships and all the popcorn is terrible. I don't even know how you make popcorn terrible but Carnival has found a way.

Just close the taco bar and keep guys open 24/7

No no no no no - but they could keep them both open 24 hours (even tell 2 am or so would be perfect).

and I would go for more Duran Duran!! Love them (especially John)

Why just large human beings?? Wouldn't that go for everyone??

Some ppl think they are perfect and expect the perfect cruise. DONT CRUISE CARNIVAL> its named fun ship for a reason!

Sounds like they have a problem with large ppl. think the OP needs a lesson in humility..

im a medium person and Ill wait my turn:D

I really like Carnival, and I guess that is why I am booked yet again for 2016 on my 8th Carnival cruise, but yes; I do have some peeves, or at least one peeve and that is "inconsistency".

I mean, some ships have this and some don't, some ships have 2.0 and some have a partial 2.0. Some ships still do this and some don't, some ships still have one kind of show with a live orchestra, and some have the new shows with piped in music and backdrops that are just photos on a screen. Some ships, you can ask your steward to have an ice bucket, and others you have to order an ice bucket from room service. some ships, have American table, and some ships don't. I used to get lobster on a 5 day cruise, and now suddenly I do not. I can go on and on.

I know change is a fact of life, but the speed at which change is occurring on Carnival is really a pitb to me. Yet here I am with yet another one booked for 2016. I have peeves, but I guess so far they are not enough to keep me from going to the other guys.

A&JFamily- No a drink is not a drink, they all contain different amounts of alcohol....The alcohol content of beer usually is 5-7%, for spirits generally 40%, for wine 11-13%

You need to finish the rest of the math problem. % of alcohol multiplied by the volume equals the total alcohol content. You would only be correct if all of your examples were the same volume.:rolleyes:
