Pandabear90 Posted January 12, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2016 Just wondering for those who have done AOS cruises out of San Juan to the southern islands, do you find the cruise to have more of a latin presence in terms of passengers? Rare cruiselvr04 Posted January 12, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 12, 2016 Yes...more Latin music and more people from Puerto Rico. The ports are awesome and we love sailing from there. Very port intensive. The weather starts out great even in the middle of winter in the US. Have a great time!
alfaeric Posted January 12, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 12, 2016 Most of the time, yes. The locals have an advantage sailing, as they don't have to fly. Always a good amount of Puerto Ricans.
cruisenfever Posted January 12, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 12, 2016 Just returned from 3 weeks on Jewel which also departs out of San Juan and, yes, there is definitely more locals on board.
Ocean Boy Posted January 12, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 12, 2016 My expereince has been yes and that is part of why I love sailing out of Puerto Rico. Those sailing have a bit of a different vibe from those sailing from Florida.

The Fun Researcher Posted January 12, 2016 #7 Share Posted January 12, 2016 Probably, but I have to say, we had a HUGE Latin presence on the Oasis this past May out of Ft. Lauderdale too so it's not only San Juan departures. :) Dan

tserface Posted January 12, 2016 #9 Share Posted January 12, 2016 I really enjoy the Puerto Ricans that have been on our cruises. They are a really fun people. I haven't noticed the cruise having any kind of special Latino feel though. It's just like other Caribbean cruises. Leaving from the Caribbean to go to the Caribbean is also a treat. It's sort of like saying do you get more New Yorkers on a cruise leaving from New York or Californians on a cruise from California or more Floridians from Florida. It makes sense since it is convenient to cruise near home if you can. Puerto Rico is not a state, but it is part of the U.S., so it's convenient to travel there for U.S. citizens. We always go a couple days early just to have some time there as well. Tom

sr4mjc Posted January 12, 2016 #12 Share Posted January 12, 2016 I'm fairly certain we heard the entire Pitbull catalog on our Jewel cruise. :p Definitely a presence, but it was fun.
