Don't a lot of them look muddy and dirty? The colors and patterns.

Because they are so light in colour and not these dark colours where stains could disappear.

Hmm, my thought (did I post or just discuss with my husband?:o) is that the light & dark splotchiness of many of the carpet patterns would make it easy to disguise stains.....

As much as I truly like everything, including the fireplace, some of the carpeting does look dirty to me, even wet in spots. It's quite possible the photos aren't doing it justice. We'll find out in August.

That's what I'm thinking too, Midwestchick. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with nearly everything I've seen, but I am curious about some of the carpet designs. With that said, I'm keeping a very open mind, and refuse to pass any judgement, until I see them in person, on Wednesday.

Sometimes I wonder if Carpet discussions are like food and entertainment discussions.... where some hate what I loved, and vice-versa :). Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Believe me, if the carpet is the only thing I do not totally love ? Then Azamara will have hit a huge home run here.

We've learned the hard way in our home: the more beautiful the carpet, the harder to keep clean! This applies to both light colors (stains) and dark (lint). The best is a tightly woven Axminster with a busy floral pattern -- but I doubt that any cruise line runs to 100% wool carpeting.

Soon, Dale (friendliest Bartender at Sea) is back as well : (This is the Casino Bar)

Gee, I sure hope we'll see him on our sailing. He's always so great !

In any high-traffic commercial application, including hotels, conference centers, cruise ships, etc., carpet will be selected that, to the maximum extent possible, hides dirt and stains. Otherwise it truly would look horrible very quickly. Such patterns are not seen in residential applications, but are a sine-qua-non in commercial settings.

A Club Continent Suite. The chair isn't the same and I have a feeling it's one I saw that converts into a bed.

Phil

Hi Phil,

I think you're right about the chair. The lack of a 2 seater sofa is disappointing to me.

There are lots of sharp corners in the bathrooms and bedrooms, so slip at your peril and I prefer to have bathroom storage above the basin area not below for toothbrushes, contact lens bits and bobs and make up.

The carpet has obviously been chosen to disguise stains with the shading effect all through the ship.

We haven't any cruises planned this year after our Northern lights trip, need to sort out OH's hip but hope to fit in another TA, maybe next year, so we can see for ourselves.

Thanks again to Andy, Captain Johannes and Heike for keeping us upto date with the 'reimagining' :)

Hi Andy,

Thank you very much for this thread and for keeping us updated with the wonderful redo of the Journey. I'm boarding in 10 days, so I'm pretty excited to experience the refreshed vessel.

Could we have some photos of the inside, oceanview and balcony cabins as well, including the bathrooms?

There seems to be posted photos only for the suites.

Thank you.

Larry Pimentel is obviously now aboard the Journey, since he has posted several photos on his Twitter account of almost-complete work.

I assume Andy is commencing his well-deserved holiday, so I will post one of the images here that caught my attention. Looks like they listened to feedback from this board, amongst other places, and modified the original mockups to include a mirror above the sitting table/desk in CC suites.
