Against the opinion of many. My kids liked the main theater productions. They like the lights and technology part of it a lot.

I LOVED the made to order salads at the Ocean Plaza on the Breeze. We also like the calypso guys on the pool deck. Fun to hear live music out there again. And I think the extra options on the fee side of the room service menu are a good addition. Late night fries with a cold drink on the balcony...yes, please.

The Serenity deck is comfortable and quiet, especially with no children running amok.

I'm going to give the Cove balconies a thumb up even though I don't get to try one for 50 days, but they have gotten great reviews

Best one for me:

The addition of Mobile back to Carnival's ports of embarkation! [emoji322][emoji324][emoji323] Mobile makes it very convenient and easy for me to leave my house by 8am and pull into the parking lot at the cruise terminal by noon. Hmmm, maybe this should be my next Carnival cruise...[emoji848]

Ever-changing variety of beer! And the EA Sports bar with additional draft beer choices!

I recall reading somewhere a while ago that Carnival was ending their contract with EA Sports, and that the EA Sports bars would be going away. This amenity is not one I am particularly interested in, so I didn't pay much attention to the chatter about it. Do Carnival ships still have the EA Sports Bar?

One of the upgrades on the Miracle's dry dock last year was a new sports bar. Non branded.

I love all the additional balconies on ships now. They were hard to find on the old ships.

Ships that are more than 35,000 tons. The old ships really rolled in the waves.

More open spaces within the ships.

Hot tubs - lots of them now, not many years ago.

A more attentive staff. Big improvements here.

More open decks. More entertainment options. Nicer fitness rooms and spas.

Blue Iguana Cantina!!!!! Not only does it have great lunch burritos and tacos, but the breakfast burritos and especially the hueveros rancheros with arepas in the morning are the best!!!!

And don't forget the Alchemy Bar. We don't cruise now unless a ship has Guys, Cantina and Alchemy.

Definitely! The Blue Iguana breakfasts are FANTASTIC!!!!

These two threads are the classic example of the "glass half full / half empty".

Negative people focus on everything they feel was taken away from them, while positive people concentrate on all the great new additions.

I certainly miss some of the stuff from the old days but if you look at the big picture there have been some positive things added. Certainly not enough change to ruin my cruise experience.

Probably the most important addition that I noted on Carnival occurred a few years ago. Prior to a few years ago when I entered a new cruise ship (Carnival or other cruise lines) the staff would stand around and if asked a question would shrug their shoulders or give you directions to the wrong location. Prior to the several years ago I was almost never addressed by name by my cabin steward or dining staff. Then Carnival suddenly started having friendly helpful staff. Suddenly everyone seems to be calling me by name. I truly felt like a VIP even though at that time I was far from platinum status! Instead of staff trying to avoid guests when they are lost or have a question, when you enter a ship you are greeted by people wearing shirts that say "ask me". And if the person doesn't know the answer to the question they don't just shrug their shoulders or just direct you to the wrong spot. Instead they actually go find out the answer to your question! And after the cruise the surveys actually ask you about the friendliness, and helpfulness of the crew. This reinforces the feeling that Carnival cares about these factors! This has probably been the single best improvement I have seen in any cruise line! This is an area where are the other lines are inferior to Carnival and would do well to emulate the service given by Carnival. Carnival needs to realize that their service given is their number one asset and do nothing to detract from it!

Love that staff calls you by name, Casino staff gives nicknames, Mine is bahama mama. lol :D

That great news if they end the partnership with EA! I'm not a fan of EA because they rip their customers off BIG time by over charging for low quality games like that awful Star Wars Battlefront. They knew they were charging customers $70 for an incomplete Star Wars game and another $50 for access to future content (the complete game). Anything that takes money out of EA's pockets is a win for us customers :)

The bar is offered on 6 of the 2.0 ships and according to this article Carnival plans on keeping the bar and renaming it.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/cruiselog/2015/01/08/ea-sports-carnival-cruise/21444747/

"An overhaul of the 2,124-passenger Carnival Miracle unveiled this week included plans for a non-branded sports bar, and a Carnival spokesman tells USA TODAY that's not by accident."Going forward, any additional sports bars introduced on our ships will not be EA Sports branded," Carnival spokesman Vance Gulliksen says. "While we will continue to feature sports bars, which are a popular feature on our ships, over time the EA brand will be phased out."
