Rare Tapi Posted February 16, 2016 #26 Share Posted February 16, 2016 (edited) I was amused at the complaining about wine glass quality. If someone is complaining about the wine glass quality on Carnival, that's a good indication that maybe they should be digging a bit deeper in their pockets to sail aboard a more upscale cruise line that places more emphasis on these minute details, instead of sailing on a budget friendly cruise line like Carnival and then complaining about it. Just my opinion. ;) Edited February 16, 2016 by Tapi

Havingfun2010 Posted February 16, 2016 #29 Share Posted February 16, 2016 I had no problem reading it. Sure it could have had spaces, but really? How hard is it to read. For the OP, just remember, that Carnival is the cruise line of budget cuts, and part of that is cutting back on all the important things that make a cruise fun, like entertainment, good food and service not to mention, maintaining a pleasant looking ship. I strongly recommend, that on your next cruise to try other lines, and experience what you missed on this one. Once I did, I discovered that cruising can be fun and enjoyable! jocko4279 Posted February 16, 2016 #31 Share Posted February 16, 2016 I too tried to get through the run-on review to appreciate the perspective but I gave up when they called the audience "dolts". Haha! How true, I thought the same thing. Not a good way to make friends :)

Sweet Dutch Girl Posted February 16, 2016 #33 Share Posted February 16, 2016 I think the OP pretty much hit on all the negative "buzz words" with their review including "norovirus" and they neatly turned a customs delay into being entirely Carnival's fault. And common sense will tell you that if the ship is "late" getting everyone on board that the muster drill (a coast guard necessity) will impact the sail away (and what sail away party? haven't experienced one of those since the Love Boat was sailing). Sorry about the airport incidents and 7 massive ships deboarding at the same time....though I do think that happens week in and week out for that port. Hope your next sailing leaves you feeling better about your experience.
Elaine515 Posted February 16, 2016 #34 Share Posted February 16, 2016 I was on the same sailing, in fact, we got married as we boarded. The delay in boarding stressed us out since we boarded about 12:15 and had a 12:45 wedding. We were a little late getting started, but the wedding and reception was amazing. The whole trip was fantastic, in spite of a little rough weather the last day. There were 17 of us sailing and we usually had 5 or 6 chairs a level or two up from the pool that we shared. The crew was always friendly and helpful. One tip is to go to the trivia games in the main lobby. Even if you don't play, Josh "Big Sexy" makes them great fun to watch. The ONLY minor negative of the whole cruise is the smoke in the casino. But I figure the smoke kept me out, so I saved money! I read this only because I was on the same cruise as the OP.... I THINK....And totally agree with Bob... Yes, he and his beautiful bride had a reason to be stressed out.. Boarding was delayed and they were getting married in under an hour after they finally allowed us to board BUT... after that, this cruise was AAAAAAAAAAAmazing... Not sure what ship the OP was on because we had one of the best cruises ever. While no one ever wants to wait to board their ship and start their vacation, I spent the time talking with other passengers, including Bob... Every single crew and staff member looked at us with a good morning, have a nice day, how are you, welcome back... Josh is an awesome CD and all around the ship talking to everyone... We had early seating and yes, the first 2 nights dinner lasted 2 to 2 1/2 hours, we very nicely mentioned it to the Restaurant Hostess and the rest of the cruise dinner was perfect... Smoking was horrible in the casino, but I have found that on every ship. And no one stops anyone from smoking at any machine and passengers were walking around with lit cigarettes not being stopped... Again, seems to be a problem on all Carnival ships... We sat at the aft pool and never had a problem getting lounge chairs and there were 5 of us... Sometimes the chairs weren't all together, but we found chairs. Weather was perfect up to the last day at sea but if you followed Josh and the Entertainment Staff, you could not be bored... I would say/tell those cruising on the Conquest in the near future, TO NOT BE WORRIED... DO NOT BE NERVOUS... DO NOT BE CONCERNED... After 29 cruises on Carnival, this was one of our best..... Yvonne Posted February 16, 2016 #35 Share Posted February 16, 2016 Being all one large paragraph it was a bit difficult to read but I made it through. Complaining about the wine glasses? Hmmmm....to me that is an indication of someone who is not happy with a lot of things. If wine is good, I would drink it from a coffee cup. :) Dolts? Really? I don't think that was necessary. And as far as putting room service trays in the hallway, one person may think that is tacky and another doesn't. I'm in the latter group. I do put the cloche back on the plate, or at the very least cover the entire thing with one of the napkins. But there is very little space to leave a dirty tray and dishes in the room, so out in the hall it goes. Sorry you don't like it. It has never bothered me to see trays in the hallway if they are up against the wall and basically out of the way of foot traffic. And some ships have indentations by the door and you can place you tray there and it doesn't even stick out into the hallway at all. Sorry you had so many "issues" with your cruise. beachbum53 Posted February 16, 2016 #36 Share Posted February 16, 2016 I was amused at the complaining about wine glass quality. I am pretty sure very few cruise ships have all the glass shapes for all the different types of wine and also if the wine is good then it can be served in a roman wine cup and be fine. If that takes up a sentence or 2 of a review I am pretty sure the cruise was a hoot. This complaint does bring up a concern. What if my milk is served in a water glass? That could ruin my whole cruise!!:rolleyes:

Viesczy Posted February 16, 2016 #38 Share Posted February 16, 2016 (edited) First, thankya Mrneil for the easier reading edit! To the OP... I'm sorry your vacation wasn't what you were hoping, but is Carnival really responsible for all? They Hyatt? The terminal & PA? All muster drills leave everything to be desired, but they are necessary. Think of muster drills like speaking to your spouse about their fave thing that you hate... you gotta do it regardless of your want to do it! ;) The lido and the eggs, c'mon it is a buffet on a cruise ship. Chair hogs are something that any/every cruise line struggles with so that's on you to handle. Just move their stuff to the floor when it is unattended and then move the chair... problem solved! :D The airline thing, that's on the folks who "felt uncomfortable". In retrospect were they more comfortable missing the flight and getting grilled by the Feds over something that was proven to be baseless? Sinus & noro, you can pick them up from any public situation. Planes are far more cramped and apt to share disease as compared to a ship. At least the ship has a modicum of cleaning done on a daily basis. I'm sorry your cruise wasn't all you hoped. Keys2Heaven Posted February 16, 2016 #40 Share Posted February 16, 2016 Hi LaCal - Sailing on Conquest April 16th. It will be our 4th time on Conquest, just a different itinerary. Looking forward to visiting Aruba. Hope you have a great trip! Do a tour. Beautiful island. Unfortunately, the natural bridge is no more. When we saw it in 2006, I was dismayed at the amount of trash in the water. The people are very friendly and, if you get a chance, have someone teach you some native papiamento. Florings Posted February 16, 2016 #42 Share Posted February 16, 2016 We were on the Conquest in late September - it was one of our best cruises. Absolutely loved everything. Casino was smoky, but we find that on all the ships. Thanks for taking the time to type out your comments - and sorry you had such a totally negative vacation. There's always next time... JaneAustenite Posted February 16, 2016 #43 Share Posted February 16, 2016 We're on the Conquest in June and we're also staying at the Hyatt Place. Our hotel room was $118 when I booked awhile ago (probably September-ish) and we chose it because of the shuttle and close proximity to restaurants and such in the vicinity. I've been reading a lot of reviews about the Conquest and they do seem mixed. I'm really impatient so I purchased FTTF and, I'm trying to prepare myself for the wait at embarkation. We're staying a night in Fort Lauderdale after the cruise, so, I'm planning on hanging out on the ship and enjoying breakfast without stressing about debarkation. howdyharley Posted February 17, 2016 Author #48 Share Posted February 17, 2016 Just noticed someone who got their feelings hurt because I said "dolt" in relation to those who are living at the turn of the 1900's and think the ship packs powdered eggs........awwwww so sorry. Did you not nail every participation trophy in school- or does the truth hurt? Combo pack of both? So stomp off and don't read the rest.

luvs2beachit Posted February 17, 2016 #50 Share Posted February 17, 2016 We were on the 1/31 Conquest sailing but apparently it was not the same 1/31 Conquest cruise the OP was on because we did not experience any of those problems. We had a great cruise. Service was top notch. Staff were friendly and efficient. Food was good to very good. Was always able to find a chair or lounger around the aft pool, which is where we spent a good bit of time with the other 6 people we were traveling with. This was our 3rd cruise on the Conquest and we ernjoyed every minute of the cruise. OP, so sorry you had such a terrible experience.
