That poor man gets tormented enough from people trying get a couple of free chocalate covered strawberries. I use to read him blog for the humor of people begging for stuff.

I had asked him about special events on our upcoming cruise (birthday, anniversary and retirement), and he said to FB him the day before sailing. He didn't sound tormented. He was very nice about it.

  • 9 months later...

I cruised last year on the Valor and actually disembarked on my birthday. I received $50 spa card, $25 wine gift card and a free photo. I hadn't told my PVP it was my birthday but had listed it on my account. Going on the Magic this year and will again disembark on my birthday. Not expecting it again but it would definitely be an added bonus!

Got a $50 spa gift card on the Vista in March and heard about using it on products and they said no so in the trash. Asked if I could give it to someone else also no. Designed to make me feel guilty

The $50 Spa Cards do not indicate that you have to use it for a Spa TREATMENT. So do not toss it out! Go buy a couple bottles of shampoo! $24 each. :)

AWWW REALLY!!?? Our last cruise we got $50 spa card and $25 for bottle of wine cause we were celebrating our anniversary. We didnt use it though cause $50 doesn't get much in services or treatment at the spa except a hair wash but they were booked and couldnt get my wife in. we also got it on second to last day of our cruise. We dont drink wine much cause I dont know much of anything about wine and what to get that I would like. I like sweet wines but have no idea what to get or know what dry wines or blush or any of the wine terms mean. So we didnt use that either. If we buy a bottle, do we get it now or do they keep it till the morning of debark? I dont want to try and get a bottle safely through airline baggage handlers and get home and its broken all over inside the suitcase.

As recently as May of 2016 -- There used to be a special occasions or celebrations tab somewhere on your booking information pages other than where you regular date of birth entry is. If you entered it there you were likely to receive one or 2 gifts like an inexpensive bottle of wine or a free picture or discount on spa services. They were more along the lines of marketing for CCL services but it was nice to be remembered.

I don't know if that tab is still there.

Guess everyone will celebrate an anniversary every cruise. IMO seems silly.

Yes many will all of the sudden. Who can resist a bottle of free wine or gift cert?

I was on Magic for my birthday in February. Received plate of cookies and chocolates from casino (don't ever spend a lot there!), and a small cake at dinner, with waiters singing. Nothing else, but I was not expecting anything.

That's cool. We are celebrating our Anniversary on this cruise and also a honeymoon we never had the chance to take. Our anniversary is in June but September fit into our schedules along with I don't like to cruise in the summer time.

I seem to remember back when the gift giving was happening that the occasion had to be within the month that you sailed.

(we sailed May 5th but DH's birthday was later that month)
