Random question: Does the Warm Chocolate Melting Cake contain gluten? My best friend is allergic to gluten and I've been talking up the WCMC so I hope it doesn't!

 

 

Carnival is VERY accommodating for gluten allergies-and there is a gluten free warm chocolate melting cake!

 

My sister sailed with us earlier this month and she is gluten intolerant. Have them go to the dining room that is listed as being open for dining concerns the first afternoon and talk to either the maitre d or the hostesses (either can handle the gluten issue). They will notate on their account as being allergic to gluten and will go through the menu for that night with her so she has food she can eat. After that point the waiter will come to the table every night with the next night's menu and they can pre-order the next day's dinner (and they will also ask if there are plans for brunch/breakfast in the dining room). They were able to do many of the dishes gluten free, but most will be without sauces because they use flour as a thickener in many of the sauces. They have good gluten free bread they will bring to the table instead of rolls-the same bread is available in the deli and my sister also had some great French toast made with it for brunch one day. The chef actually made her a bunch of different desserts, sometimes ones that weren't even on the menu for everyone else, she even had a plate of gluten free cookies at her place setting one night when she got to the dining room, they weren't asked for, they just wanted to be nice-she only ended up with the WCMC one night out of 8, and she was told that's the automatic dessert fallback when they don't have any other option.

both the chocolate cake and chocolate chip cookies from room service are yummy!! Pizza is always good for a late night snack, but gets crowded so there can be a line. You can also go to the coffee bar and get a big slice of cake there for a couple dollars. Big enough to share for sure. (And then some)

I remember reading that it's nice to order some chocolate chip cookies from room service to keep in the room. We loved the idea and always had something for a sweet fix!

 

YES! I do this every cruise. Just keep the plate in the room and always have some cookies around. On the last day of my first cruise, I heard a mom yelling at her kid "Don't order cookies until I'm out of the shower!" and my mouth dropped open. I had no idea you could just order some cookies! :D

 

For those that aren't lactose intolerant, ask for butter pecan with your chocolate melting cake. Makes it even better!

It depends on your version of the snacks. I bring Chex mix, chips, and cookies that I can eat since I have a gluten allergy.

I have no allergy, but bring them as a touch of home, things I usually snack on. It doesn't do much good to randomly snack on other things while your brain is craving something else.

When tipping for room service, does it go on your sign & sail or do you give cash? Going on my third cruise, but have yet to use room service. It sounds so yummy I think I need to give it a try.

You can special order the gluten-free WCMC (you have to order the day before) and I recommend doing so ... it's wonderful!!! I have it every night :)

Use cash. I usually tip $1 for just one or two things, $2-4 if I'm getting a lot more.

Some people get peanut butter with the melting cake. Never tried it but that might help with the sweetness of the cake since they can't have ice cream.

 

Now you are talking my language! I LOVE peanut butter and chocolate! I will ask if that is an option with the melting cake when I get it.

Eat at the steakhouse one night and have the Chocolate Sampler for dessert. TDF!! :D

We always tip a couple dollars in cash, since I don't think those delivery waiters get a cut of the other tips. I could be wrong however, I am sure someone can correct if that is the case.

Also, what are the late night snack options? I know there is 24 hour ice cream (which is pointless for me and DH, we are lactose intolerant).

 

We are going to do the 5:30 dinner so I know at some point late in the night, in between shows and the casino, I’ll feel like snacking. Is the dining room open or is there other places to grab something?

 

On our last cruise, there was also a frozen yogurt machine.
