We are booking MY FIRST CRUISE on the Victory!!!

I am wondering the most important question….how is the chocolate situation?!

I’ve heard about this really awesome chocolate melt cake thing that I cant wait to try! Anything else?

Also, what are the late night snack options? I know there is 24 hour ice cream (which is pointless for me and DH, we are lactose intolerant).

We are going to do the 5:30 dinner so I know at some point late in the night, in between shows and the casino, I’ll feel like snacking. Is the dining room open or is there other places to grab something?

Room service will bring you snacks / desserts 24/7. There will be a grill open on the lido deck each night till 11pm, as well as the deli. Pizza is 24/7.

I'm guessing you're referring to the Warm Chocolate Melting cake? If you're a chocaholic, you'll probably love it. Give it a try, then decide. As for late night snacks, the pizza station stays open all night, and there's room service. I think the buffet and the Deli are open until about 9:00.

Even though OP was asking about those late night munchies I include an overview of the ships eating choices.

Each evening your room steward will place a "Fun Times" paper in your room. It will list the hours of operation for each eating establishment.

As a general rule the Deli is open 11A to 11P.

Pizza is 24 hours.

Breakfast Lido buffet begins with continental around 6A with hot items beginning shortly after with lunch buffet slowly taking over the Lido buffet area. Lido buffet closes down around

3P. Depending on your ship there might be other options but likely only open for lunch. (Italian rest on Breeze class ships/ some have an Indian Tandoor/ Fish and Chips on Conquest class)

Dinner buffet from around 6 to 9:30.

If your ship has a Blue Iguana and Guys burger , the BI will be open for breakfast and lunch and close around 2P. Guys will open from 12 to 6P.

There is a late night snacks from 11:30 P to 1:30A. If you have a Guys the late night snack will be hot dogs and sandwiches. If no Guys then it will be burgers and dogs.

MDR opens for Brunch on Sea days from about 8 to 1:30 and then reopens for evening meal service. On port days MDR is open for breakfast and dinner. NO lunch service.

RS is 24 hours and has many items without addition charge but a gratuity is common.

There are other options like the taste bar or the coffee shop. They too are only open for certain times.

As stated the above information is Generalized. There are always exceptions.

Wow!! Thanks so much for the info!! That answers a lot of questions!

Is the room service menu just a general limited menu, or does it have a pretty decent selection? And is there a charge for room service beyond an extra tip?

I always get some cheese and maybe a crusty roll and some cookies from the buffet and keep them in the fridge in the cabin to have late at night with maybe some hot chocolate from lido deck.

The warm chocolate melting cake is to die for, but with your intolerance be sure to tell them no ice cream. they always serve vanilla ice cream with the cake since it is so rich.

You can usually find something sweet (ice cream, cookies on buffet late night or cake from room service), but salty and crunchy is another story.

If this is what you are looking for, you might want to throw something in your bags. Sometimes we like a little something like this (think Gardetto snacks or Chex Mix), and it is hard to come by on the ship. I think they sell something like these in the shops, but at a premium price!

Some people get peanut butter with the melting cake. Never tried it but that might help with the sweetness of the cake since they can't have ice cream.

First, have to say, Victory is a nice ship. I sailed on her last October and had a great 5 days aboard. For me the chocolate melting cake is a bit rich, but so many do seem to love it. It usually is tempered by a serving of ice cream, but that will not work, being lactose intolerant. So give the chocolate melting cake a try, first night and see if you like it. It is on the dessert menu every night in the dining room.

The deli is open till 11pm, and they have some very nice sandwiches. There are supposed to be some late night snacks somewhere on lido, but I never went looking, since I don't eat late. Also 24hr room service still has some great options, even though the Victory has now gone to the new room service menu, which has many no charge items, and a few extra charge items. My favorites from the room service menu, are no longer available on the new one:D, but one that is still there is the BLT, bacon lettuce and tomato. And it is very good. Several more sandwiches available, no charge. My favorite dessert however on the room service menu, is the Chocolate cake. This is not like the melting one in the dining room, but is a regular chocolate cake with icing, and is excellent!!! And I am not a chocolate cake lover! but love this one.

Pizza is 24 hrs, but again, being lactose intolerant, this will not be an option. However, since the pizzas are custom made, you can request one without cheese, Im sure must be possible.

Sounds to me like room service and the deli, might be your go to places for snacks.

Hope you enjoy the Victory as much as I did:)

For many of the items on the room service menu, there is no charge. But there are a few items that you can order that there is a charge for. Also, the auto-gratuities do not include room service. Tipping for room service is separate.

the recipes that I have seen for it, have a small amount of flour in it, like 1/2 cup for 6 servings, so while it is low in gluten, it is not gluten free. Sorry. However Carnival is very good at providing gluten free options and versions of their menu items. Your friend needs to state gluten free when he/she books, and or consult the maitre'd on boarding day. They will work with you.

Random question: Does the Warm Chocolate Melting Cake contain gluten? My best friend is allergic to gluten and I've been talking up the WCMC so I hope it doesn't!
It's made with flour, so no, it is not gluten-free. Same for many of the menu items. You might talk with the maitre d' when you board, to see what options there are for your friend.
