Do they give you receipts with the price for each drink you get thru Cheers, so you can keep track if you saved money or not? Or at least so you know how many drink you have had?

Yes you get a receipt with the price and then the second line shows the price refunded. Also your S&S bill will show a purchase of $0.00'for each drink so you can count them up that way. I just figured when I could no longer add them up in my head it was time to switch to ginger ale. [emoji6]

Sounds like a good plan to me! I purchased Cheers for the Vista TA.

I do not consider myself a big drinker but got Cheers! for my Four day on the Triumph last week. Day one I came out just a little ahead of even, a couple drinks with lunch, one at the bar before dinner and another to carry to dinner, and a couple late in the casino. The other days it really paid off. We love the drinks at Alchemy so would go there at four when they opened for one, right before dinner at six to take to the dining room, one before the comedy show at 1030 or 1100 and one more right before they closed at midnight. At 10.50 each it only took one more frosty or fruity drink to break even. We also had at least $10 of coffee/shakes/vitamin water a day and several drinks at the slots each night. Plus wine at dinner once or twice and a ting mojito with our Huevos rancheros on sea days.

Ok, maybe I WAS a big drinker for a few days. [emoji41]

This is us! We do not consider ourselves to be big drinkers, but we are going with the CHEERS program. We might just be big drinkers for a few days as well ;)

Confused! I just booked my first Carnival cruise and while very familiar with other cruiselines, I know nothing about Carnival. I attempted to purchase the Cheers program and it wouldn't allow me to saying I had already purchased the program (I hadn't). So I had to call to complete the purchase. When I spoke with the Carnival rep in the "Fun" department he said that all regular sodas (ex diet Coke) are included as part of your 15 drinks in Cheers drink plan. I questioned him, sure they were suppose to be unlimited, because it wasn't what I read on here or elsewhere but he confirmed under the new plan regular soda is part of the plan.

Also, on Disney they have free drink stations for soda, ice tea, water etc. Royal Caribbean had water and ice tea available self serve all day. Is there anything like this on the Carnival Victory or do you have to buy bottled water to drink water?

Sweetspot- free drinks without Cheers or Bubbles are: 'tap' water, lemonade, ice tea, juice at breakfast, coffee (not specialty) and hot chocolate (not specialty).

Thank you so much for answering the question! Do you know if they are accessible all day or just during meals? I drink so much water and ice tea all day normally. I was hoping I would be able to have access to water or ice tea while sitting on the pool deck.

Regular soda is included in the Cheers plan. Recent changes added coffee drinks and some other items (bottled water in certain locations, Vitamin Water, etc.) as well. These do not count towards the 15 limit. The 15 limit is only on alcoholic drinks.

Per the FAQ from the Carnival website on the Enhanced Cheers! program:

"Program allows for unlimited Zero-Proof beverages but only one beverage at a time may be ordered using CHEERS! - sharing is not permitted."

You can get tea, coffee, and water 24/7. Juices are added to the self-serve drink stations during breakfast hours, but there will always be at least 1 tea dispenser available at each station. The self-serve stations are in the Lido Deck buffet area.

Thank you Pops and Rod. It's sad when a Carnival rep gives you wrong information. He also told me that there is a water fountain, which is the only other option for beverages other than the bar and meals.

I'm thankful for this forum so that I can get the right answer. The Cheers program really seemed to lose it's value if the diet cokes I need (instead of coffee) in the morning all count toward the 15 count.

Sweetspot - You can have unlimited Diet Cokes with the Cheers program. They will not count toward your "15 limit".

Happy Sailing! :-)

Honey, they aren't worried about that. I could tell you stories over the last 45 years of cruising that would blow your mind I've had the captain let me guide the ship and done things that today would make you crap grapes. Don't be so scared and just enjoy life. I promise you won't be kicked off the ship. You might even feel alive.

Diamonddaddy said it so it's so

Love this!! So true!

So I am going on a 5 night cruise out of Jax on the 2nd of May on Elation....on the fence about getting cheers its going to be 287.21 for me to get it pre cruise.....My issue is on port days which I have two Half Moon Cay and Nassau....how many drinks could I get on those days to make it worth it and I have read that other drinks are included and doesn't go against your 15 limit like maybe sports drinks and rockstar???

I only have to say Carnival has improved their Cheers program allowing you to have any drink up to the price of $50 per drink (don't even know a drink over 18 lol), they include the water and vitamin water, specialty coffees in mdr and coffee shop...yes you have a limit of 15 per day unless your a beer drinker which I have to say I seen people drink a bucket of beer (buckets not included in Cheers) in less than an hour so its not worth for them to get the Cheers program, but if you don't drink only beer and have cocktails it sure adds up and its so worth it.

On port days well lets say this....You can have a couple mimosa's or bloody marys at breakfast...maybe specialty coffee or two or maybe you want to carry off some bottled water with you..... the ship leaves anywhere between 4-5 pm on the average....you certainly will get back to the ship before the time it leaves then you can have a drink or two or three then you have the whole night to get stuff thats included on the Cheers program....maybe specialty coffee at dinner....maybe bring back a bottle of water or vitamin water when retire for the night.....so if you think about it, you will "get your monies worth"but on sea days you may have more drinks and then you don't have to go over your bar bill and see if there were any charges that weren't yours.

You are correct with the 287. for cheers as long as no one else in your cabin is 21. All people in the cabin over 21 must purchase, so if there is two, its double the 287... Cheers does not work at Half moon cay, so what ever you purchase there you pay for individually. Of course in Nassau, you are on your own also.. However, depending on what you drink while on the ship, you could get your monies worth with only a few drinks as some are over 10.00... you also get energy drinks, soda included with cheers on the ship

Wondering if the listed Tequilas and price is for a shot or glass.

Whoa! A glass of tequila?? Try walking after that. ;) The price is per shot. Whether you have just the shot or include the shot in a mixer, that's the price per shot.

Going on the Carnival Sensation in April with a big group and had some questions regarding the 15 drink limit (4 day cruise with 20+ ppl). Can we purchase tubes of beer or bottles of wine (and by purchase I mean have them go on our cruise account) and would that count as a drink? I've never had to worry about a drink limit on any of my other cruises and 15 will creep up on the group I am going with.

It's all right here:

https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1106/~/cheers!-beverage-program

Beverages excluded from the program are:

Beverages promoted and sold in souvenir glasses

Bottles of liquor

Beverages offered at the gangway

Beverages offered through room service, mini bars and/or other in-stateroom beverage programs

Sharing cocktails, floaters, pitchers, tubes and buckets

Beverages offered through enomatic wine machines and self-serve beer stations

All other beverage-related programs including merchandise, cigars and cigarettes

Food items

Thanks, I understand you can't get them for free but what I'm asking is that are you able to purchase them outside of the cheers program? If my wife and I ordered a bottle of wine at dinner I would expect to pay the 25% discounted price for the bottle. Do they allow you to purchase tubes of beer? I guess I am just confused at how that would affect your beer count, my guess is it's Carnivals way of trying to keep the "free" beer in check. I am a first time Carnival cruiser so forgive me if I seem naive to the whole thing.

I had the same question and so I called Carnival. They told me that I could purchase either the Vineyard package or the wine by the bottle and still have Cheers. I think that the key is to order the bottle, bucket ,tube, etc. BEFORE you hit the 15! The 15 is an indicator to them that you have consumed quite a bit. Actually, I am in the camp that believes that the 15 limit is not only to limit the amount to make the program also fair for their price for them, but because some attorney somewhere felt they had to cap it to even have a one price deal. I think the rest, if you are willing to pay, goes under the radar.

Did they happen to tell you if those would be discounted because of the Cheers package ?

So I guess my question would be that if we were at the Steak House and we ordered 2 $49 bottles of wine with dinner, we are still covered under Cheers? Assuming two of us are ordering? I like my reds dry...She likes them drier!!!

Thanks for the great info!!!

No.

With Cheers! you receive a 25 percent discount off the menu price for wine and champagne by the bottle.

You can both order by the glass, assuming that the wine or champagne is available for purchase by the glass and the cost per glass is $50 or less.
