chrismch Posted September 4, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 4, 2016 What is the depth of the pool? We'd like to do walking laps but need a depth max of 4.5 ft to make it work. Are the steam and sauna open for daily use for all passengers? Or are they only included as part of a spa pkg?
JimandStan Posted September 4, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 4, 2016 (edited) What is the depth of the pool? We'd like to do walking laps but need a depth max of 4.5 ft to make it work. You're out of luck, the swimming pools on all of the ships are deep. A uniform depth of at least 8 feet. Are the steam and sauna open for daily use for all passengers? Or are they only included as part of a spa pkg? The Steam Room/Sauna is open daily for all, at no additional cost. MOTB Posted September 4, 2016 #9 Share Posted September 4, 2016 Does the main pool have easy access, ie steps rather than a ladder?
JimandStan Posted September 5, 2016 #10 Share Posted September 5, 2016 Does the main pool have easy access, ie steps rather than a ladder? The swimming pools on Marina and Riviera have steps (see top, left corner of the pool above), but the R ship pools are only laddered.
Mura Posted September 5, 2016 #11 Share Posted September 5, 2016 The pools are salt water,yuk... Jane, why "yuk"? I like salt water pools, so I'm puzzled as to why you don't ... not that you don't have the right not to like them! I can see why a cruise ship would use salt water in the pool ... there's more of it around than fresh water ... Mura
janecambridge Posted September 5, 2016 #12 Share Posted September 5, 2016 Sorry Mura. When the pool is empty of passengers ( or just one or two) I like to swim underwater. But the salt water makes it uncomfortable. For a float or mild swim it's very good.I should have expanded on that...:o
Mura Posted September 5, 2016 #13 Share Posted September 5, 2016 I thought it might be something like that, Jane. Not necessarily that you like to swim underwater but that you didn't want the extra buoyancy. Mura

YoHoHo Posted September 8, 2017 #16 Share Posted September 8, 2017 You're out of luck, the swimming pools on all of the ships are deep. A uniform depth of at least 8 feet. While still unsuitable fir the OP's purpose, IIRC the pool is not uniform but is perhaps 5 feet and quite quickly slopes down to treading water depth; I agree to your stated 8 feet. I'm sure near the ladder at one end I can touch the bottom with my head still just above water.
happy cruzer Posted September 11, 2017 #17 Share Posted September 11, 2017 For Riviera, can someone explain what is included for all to use in the spa area. What is added for an extra charge and how much the charge is? Are packages available?

aaaaa Posted August 20, 2018 #20 Share Posted August 20, 2018 Anyone know the approximate dimensions of the pool (on the O ships)?
Mura Posted August 20, 2018 #21 Share Posted August 20, 2018 No, but they don't look large. Larger than the "R" ships I'd say. (I've never taken a swim on any of the ships so I go just by appearance.) Not an Olympic pool ... not that anyone expects that on a cruise ship! Rare ORV Posted August 20, 2018 #23 Share Posted August 20, 2018 I'd say somewhere around 15 feet by 45 feet That might be a bit conservative.
StanandJim Posted August 21, 2018 #24 Share Posted August 21, 2018 That might be a bit conservative. Yes, but as a man I've learned that it is preferable to understate measurements, in the hope that others will be.......pleasantly surprised :halo:
