Getaway Vibe Beach questions

1) What time does NCL first allow you to line up to board?

2) How many people are in a “boarding group”?

3) On the Getaway, please confirm…Vibe Beach passes are purchased at Guest Services?

4) For the Thanksgiving week cruise, roughly what time would be best to make sure passes can be bought?

5) Can I purchase a cabana for another cabin (relatives)?

6) If I get two passes and one cabana, my guess would be that if my cabana relatives leave Vibe Beach, than I can’t use their cabana. Correct?

7) Has anyone ever heard of anyone being able to reserve VBC ahead of the embarkation day? Health issues? War hero? Fairy Dust?

8) Can you use the VBC on embarkation day? Like a place to go after you leave guest services?

9) What else is there to do after reserving VBC and you’re on board early? The room won’t be ready, right? Pool? Food? Other?

Thanks in advance.

If you want a cabana get to guest services ASAP, they usually sell out quickly.

We sailed the getaway twice and got the Vibe one time, a cabana. On one occasion when we went to the cabana, there were two people who we do not even know laying in our cabana. BUSTED! LOL They immediately said "Sorry, we were just leaving". hey what were you doing here in the first place??? Anyway from that experience your friends should be able to share the cabana with you. They do give wrist bands to the cabana people but obviously they do not check all that well.

From what I now you CANNOT rent the cabana until you get on the ship.

You can use the Vibe as soon as you sign up for it and they give you your access cards.

You don't really line up to board. You line up to get through security and then get in line to check-in. Once you have checked-in, you go to the waiting area where you will be given a boarding group number.

Three ports we have sailed out of this year have started to board priority groups (B2B first, Platinum next, Gold, Silver, Bronze (in order)) before starting the normal boarding group numbers. Have not seen that at Miami yet.

Only people present can pick up a vibe pass (can't pick up for other people).

Remember, Miami boards out of two different terminals (B and C) based on your stateroom deck. Cross your fingers that your terminal starts boarding first. 50/50 chance.

Most folks go for lunch after boarding. The MDR will open at noon. Buffet and O'Shehans will be open. Then out to the pool, water slides, ropes courses.

Silver gets priority before normal group numbers? Awesome! Which ports?

On my next cruise, my first day will bump me up to 48 points....Gold!! ....woohoo.....too bad they are not awarded until after the cruise :(

What's the earliest people were allowed onboard ?? I picked 9:30 but I'm only bronze still . Going on the 30th from Miami!!

You have NOT picked a boarding time. You have picked a time to show up at the port. General boarding is by group number. General boarding begins about 11:30. If you show up at 9:30, you will be in one of the first groups to board,,, at 11:30.

I'm giving up on the Vibe Beach idea.

I thought it would be great for my in laws, as they have some health issues and would have appreciated the cabana. But since I could not have reserved it for them, and they would not have wanted to get to the ship that early, they will have to make do with their suite.

I think I will settle for the thermal spa. Hope I can talk the bride into doing the same.

Wow, I read it exactly like BirdTravels did..... relax.

People were talking about boarding and all you said was "I picked 9:30".... it's not uncommon for people to confuse check-in and boarding.... I thought BirdTravels was very nice clarifying that based on what you wrote..... just my opinion

I just returned today from the Getaway. I arrived at terminal B at around 9:35 am, and there were already about 50-60 people inside, but not yet screened by security. About 10:00 they began screening and check-in process.

I received a "Group 3" pass, and waited over near the bathrooms where the entrance to the boarding area was. Passengers were still debarking until about 11:30 from the previous cruise.

Apparently, Group 3 was the lowest number given on that day, and boarding began about noon. I proceeded directly to Guest Services, and was 3rd in line for Vibe passes.

Yes, you may proceed directly to Vibe upon boarding. If you're on this early, rooms will not be ready yet. I went to Savor, with my carry-on bag in tow, and had a leisurely lunch, then returned to Vibe to wait for the rooms to be ready. (About 1:30)

I wouldn't give up on the idea until you've boarded and checked guest services. We just sailed 9/18 to 9/25 and I was a nut about getting Vibe passes this time. We flew in on a red eye from West Coast and arrived at the terminal before 9 a.m. We didn't board until close to noon! We were one of the first guests going into terminal once they opened the door but were then queued for over an hour in the waiting area before security. It was basically hurry up and wait for almost 3 hours. We were boarding group 3 but were no where near first people on the ship. Lots of other groups were being escorted through. Long story short.... I stressed the whole time. Only to get to guest services where there was no line and no one waiting to get Vibe passes. We splurged on a cabana and I'm so happy we did. We went to Vibe almost daily and I never saw more than 8 people at one time. Most of the time we were the only ones! Had the whole place to ourselves a couple of evenings. The attendants in Vibe were amazing and I liked seeing the same faces every day. Good luck and have a great time with whatever you decide!

I hope we have a similar experience on Getaway 6 November and also Escape on 29 October

  • 2 weeks later...

I opening up this topic again because I’m rethinking my decision on not going for the Vibe pass.

I have been reading these posts and…

A) I read that the check in times you put in for when you are online are just “suggestions”. It appears that whoever gets to the port first gets on the ship first.

Note: When I went online I choose an 11:30AM boarding time as I had given up the Vibe idea.

And

B) Some of the reviews describe a fully loaded ship as feeling very crowded, especially in the pool areas.

Someone earlier said that you can only reserve passes for yourself. Does that mean just the person who is on the Guest Services line or just for the people in your cabin? What if you reserved more than one cabin? Could you reserve Vibe passes for anyone in your party?

Thanks in advance.
