Are there any one-way cruises?

There are any number of one-way cruises, for example, in the Med: it's not unusual at all to find cruises from Barcelona to Rome or from Athens to Venice.

However, you won't find many one-way cruises in the Caribbean because these cruises are heavily booked by people who do not have passports. In order to get around that, the cruises have to be a round-trip that begins and ends at the same US port.

I'm not saying there aren't ANY, as there may be the odd segment of a longer cruise -- more likely to find that on one of the upscale lines.

Repositioning Cruise's.

There are plenty of one-way cruises. But one ways to the Caribbean are quite rare (there are some one-ways to San Juan). We often use one-way repositioning cruises to and from Europe and have also used them to cross the Pacific, go between Italy and Istanbul, and go from Argentina to the USA. Keep in mind that many of these repo cruises are somewhat longer then a typical 7 day cruise. For example, going from Seattle to Sydney, Australia took us about a month :).

There are lots of them. Examples that we have been on, all 14 night cruises:

Valparaiso, Chile to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

Singapore to Hong Kong.

Barcelona to Venice.

Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to San Diego, Calif.

There are some that start in Florida and end in Brazil, or start in Brazil and end in Florida. And others that start in California and end in Chile, or start in Chile and end in California.

Funny but I was pondering this with my wife just a week ago - this next cruise (5th for us) will only be the 2nd where we return to the port we departed from. Two TAs and a NB Alaska were all one-way. It was interesting coming back to San Juan from the So. Caribbean itinerary.

Blessed Monday Shipfam!

Quick question, besides TA crossings, are there any one-way cruises? For example, are there any cruises that depart the US and end in Mexico, or are there only return trips? TIA.

We haven't been on a round trip cruise in many many years. In fact we choose some cruises primarily for the different start/end ports so that we can extend our vacation and get the most out of that international airfare or (in the case of our preferred line) air credit.

Great example: we're doing a TransPacific in 2018. So the only airfare bite is on the one way long haul from SFO to Sydney. Did the same this past summer: SF to NYC Panama Canal. After the air credit, two air tix back to CA cost us about $10 each.
