UKPete71 Posted April 30, 2017 Author #126 Share Posted April 30, 2017 Last night's show in the Reflection Theatre was juggler Mike Price. It was an entertaining show bringing juggling up to date with music, lights and audience participation. Between the 7 and 9 shows there was a game show in the Grand Foyer, 'You Got Yourself A Deal', where one guest could win one of twelve prizes. The MDR menus for last night... UKPete71 Posted April 30, 2017 Author #127 Share Posted April 30, 2017 After dinner it was 'Dancing With The Stripes'. Having seen my MiL win this before it's not about dancing ability, it's about having fun. That explains the winner anyway. UKPete71 Posted April 30, 2017 Author #129 Share Posted April 30, 2017 It was an early start today for our first port stop of the cruise, Tenerife. We had a free tour excursion courtesy of our travel agent. We only found out about it once on board in Miami, and as we didn't have any plans for today thought we'd take up the offer. It was a northern panorama tour, with a stop in La Laguna at lunchtime for cheese and wine tasting in a local hotel. The mountain we travelled up took us into the clouds. By the time we reached the viewing point we couldn't see anything because of the clouds. [emoji54] After our stop in La Laguna we returned to the ship with a couple of hours spare before the 'all aboard' time so we took the free shuttle back to the port entrance and walked across to the city centre and found a bar to have a local beer. We chose to walk back to the ship. There were three cruise ships in port, with Reflection being the furthest walk, obviously!!! [emoji23] For the sail away we headed up to Sunset Bar where DJ Gio was battling with the wind. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
UKPete71 Posted April 30, 2017 Author #130 Share Posted April 30, 2017 (edited) Something happened to the tv in our stateroom today and a black line appeared across the screen. We reported it to Guest Relations and during the sail away the tv was replaced. Unfortunately the set up wasn't completed so it didn't work when we got back to our room. Guest Relations contacted our stateroom attendant, but it was nothing he could do. Two hours later someone from IT appeared. We were on our way out to dinner, so hopefully it'll be working when we head back later. Because of the early start we had a nap before dinner and have our stateroom attendant to thank for waking us by knocking on our door. [emoji23] As a result it was just starter and main in the MDR tonight. Sent from my iPhone using Forums Edited April 30, 2017 by UKPete71
UKPete71 Posted April 30, 2017 Author #131 Share Posted April 30, 2017 It was 70s night in the Grand Foyer tonight, with CD Maarten and his team leading the way. There was a balloon drop, followed by a few balloons being popped. [emoji23] Maarten took the party to the elevator with his two Activity Hosts. I jumped in the elevator and got a video, but I'm having trouble uploading videos via the Cruise Critic app and Celebrity's wifi. UKPete71 Posted April 30, 2017 Author #132 Share Posted April 30, 2017 We were just about to head for bed when someone at the Casino bar thought it was a good idea to order Jagermeister, peach schnapps and cranberry juice, aka a Redheaded Slut, for everyone! I only saw him yesterday as the meeting point for the excursion I was on was the Ensemble Lounge. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Lastdance Posted May 1, 2017 #138 Share Posted May 1, 2017 Loving your journey! How are you doing with all the "time forwards"? Have you noticed it much? Tweetylori! We came from the west coast; now we are nine hours ahead and it has been a little difficult. However, the last time change was last night, so we are good to go and very happy...time changes are always difficult, but if you like to travel it is something you have to do. I am sure Peter will share his perspective...from UK... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Iamthesea Posted May 2, 2017 #141 Share Posted May 2, 2017 I just had to share from Tenerife..;they are getting ready for a festival filled with these paintings...gorgeous! We saw several of those "paintings" in La Orotava. If I recall, they are made with dried and crushed flower petals, are they not? Like sand paintings. :)

UKPete71 Posted May 2, 2017 Author #143 Share Posted May 2, 2017 Loving your journey! How are you doing with all the "time forwards"? Have you noticed it much? I think the six (+1 hour) changes in eight days has taken its toll on a few people. Added to this we had a 8.5 hour flight (and -5 hour time change) the day before the cruise started it's been tiring. As lastdance said, they are done now and we've a week of no more changes. We did a westbound TA in November '15 from the UK that had 5 (-1 hour) changes in 6 days. I guess the extra hour each day is more welcome as I don't recall us having any issues with tiredness. Plus we had no pre-cruise flight to deal with. The clock changes wouldn't put me off doing an eastbound TA again, although I'd be more inclined to do westbound unless it's a really good deal. UKPete71 Posted May 2, 2017 Author #145 Share Posted May 2, 2017 Yesterday was our final sea day. In the Grand Foyer in the morning there was a new Celebrity Life Activity, archery! The Activity Hosts said it was the first time they've done archery on Reflection. It was a popular activity and took a while to get through everyone. We spent some time by the pool in the afternoon. There was an ice sculpture done whilst we were there. The photo doesn't do it justice. The sculpture was carved in 15 minutes. There was an afternoon matinee show in the theatre by the production staff, MAXX. It's one of Celebrity's own shows. UKPete71 Posted May 2, 2017 Author #146 Share Posted May 2, 2017 Between shows, and dinner seatings, the choir formed by guests on board performed two songs on the staircase in the Grand Foyer. The menus from the MDR for Monday were... The late night entertainment was in Celebrity Central. It was based on a talk show and titled, The Tonight Show with Maarten. He interviewed Activity Manager Charlotte, Julie from Guest Relations and the chap in charge of the shops on board. There was also music from the Reflection orchestra. The show finished with a game of 'egg roulette'. Three hard boiled eggs and three fresh eggs. Get the question right and the opponent has to pick an egg and hit it against their forehead. Get a question wrong and you pick an egg to hit your own forehead. Of the three fresh eggs Maarten hit two against his forehead, much to the delight of the audience! [emoji23] His plight wasn't helped by him saying Lance Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon! UKPete71 Posted May 2, 2017 Author #148 Share Posted May 2, 2017 We had our second port call today, Malaga in Spain. We had no plans so took the port shuttle to the town centre. The return shuttle cost €5 each. It would have been the same one way. The town was walkable, maybe around 20 minutes from the ship. In Malaga we found a restaurant for beer and tapas. When we returned to the ship I sent my DW back to our cabin so I could take a photo from the gangway and identify our stateroom. She's there somewhere. [emoji23] I then went for a walk back along the pier to take a photo of the ship. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
