golfer21 Posted July 6, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 6, 2017 Does anyone have a list of the included wines, we are cruising on Voyager in October. Not sure if each ship has different ones and also how often do they change. Thanks:wine-glass:
jarconthemighty Posted July 6, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 6, 2017 Wondering the same thing and if they try to up-sell from the house wines a lot? ~Jar
liptastic Posted July 6, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 6, 2017 I have never seen the included wine list onboard, but I have never actually asked to see it. I recollect a copy being posted in a thread some time ago, but I would think it may not vary too much other than the area of the world in which you are cruising. Each evening at dinner they offer the white and red of the day to taste, but they always manage to deliver your preference if the evening choice is not to your taste. Lunch time has a good choice too. I have never gone thirsty onboard, and always enjoy the included wines. Jean.
jarconthemighty Posted July 6, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 6, 2017 I have seen an old list of spirits and wine a while ago. The spirits probably don't change as much as the wine does due to vintages, etc. ~Jar
Travelcat2 Posted July 6, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 6, 2017 I have a list but there are likely some changes. It is best to ask your sommelier when you are onboard! All of the ship have the same wine but local wines are brought onboard when possible.
Kwaj girl Posted July 7, 2017 #6 Share Posted July 7, 2017 Wondering the same thing and if they try to up-sell from the house wines a lot? ~Jar We've not noticed a push to sell the additional-cost wines, though the Sommeliers may recommend one wine or another when they get to know your particular tastes. We have often purchased one of these recommendations during an onboard wine tasting when you have time to chat. Then they either deliver the wines to your suite or will be held/reserved for you and served at any of the restaurants upon request. A good use for onboard credit! Travelcat2 Posted July 7, 2017 #7 Share Posted July 7, 2017 The last poster reminded me of the "included" wine tasting that Regent does on sea days. They have samples of most of their included wines. No one has ever tried to sell us wines and we have never purchased one (exception - we have paid for the exclusive Connoisseur Wine Lunch where they serve very pricey wines paired with food). If we are not happy with the wines of the day, we speak with the sommelier and they generally find a wine that meets our taste.
GOARMY Posted July 7, 2017 #8 Share Posted July 7, 2017 Oh my! In all concerns as to Regent meeting one's wine needs, let-alone meeting expectations to experiencing a 5+ experience--whether at lunch, or dinner at any dining venue. Not to worry. This evaluation is based on very-recent experiences (March-April 2017 24-day "Explorer" from Miami to Venice; and a just-completed 25-day May-June Miami-Amazon River-Miami "Navigator" excursion). Plus, prior numerous sailings on ALL other Regent ships over the past 13+ years. The following is also based on numerous sailings on all other 5+ star "inclusive" lines since 1995. You know the names, no need to repeat. Never an issue on any of these ships. This is really simple. When in doubt as to quality of the listed wine(s) shown on the menu at either lunch or dinner venues at any-any restaurant--as everyone's palate is different: Simply ask for another selection. The "head wine guy" will immediately appear at your table. Explain the situation. Maybe a dryer Red; or a more flavorful White. Example: while aboard Navigator with a couple whom we have known for over 50 years-- Our dear lady friend advised she wanted to sample another variation of a particular Merlot. No problem. She was immediately offered a tasting of two alternatives--NONE of which were from the "premium" menu. The second alternative met her expectations. That bottle remained on the table for all to sample. This was not a one-time thing. It reoccurred five or six times during that extended voyage. Never an issue. Always service with a smile. So, let us move-on to more pressing issues, whatever they might be. GOARMY!
Mudhen Posted July 7, 2017 #9 Share Posted July 7, 2017 Just for the record....we're "Gold", so have experienced ALL of the Regent ships. We've NEVER been pushed to purchase any "upscale" wine. Actually, never felt the need.
Rare wishIweretravelling Posted July 7, 2017 #10 Share Posted July 7, 2017 I "met" three of my favorite everyday go-to wines on Regent cruises as part of the the included wines. Their included wines are usually of the sort I find at home priced somewhere in the teens. If I can find them at home. No one has ever pushed the extra-cost wines. mjobtx Posted July 7, 2017 #11 Share Posted July 7, 2017 Copies of the complimentary and the connoisseurs' wine list are available. Ask you agent to obtain and email a copy for you. The lists are completely current so expect some variations. In my experience with cruise lines, the quality and availability of wine on board is due in great part to the knowledge of the Executive Cellar Master. Of course, some wines are standard on all ships.

mjobtx Posted July 10, 2017 #13 Share Posted July 10, 2017 Called Regent this afternoon and was told there is no list of complimentary wines as they change depending on where the ship is sailing. Guess we will have to wait until we are onboard. That may not be technically true. I can't upload the complimentary list that I was sent by my agent and it is dated April 2016, and it clearly states subject to change. That said, from a wine list management perspective and from a cost perspective, you will find that the complimentary wine lists will be almost the same on every ship. It is a volume buy decision and to a much lesser extent, a pairing decision. I also have a copy of the Connoisseur's wine list which was also sent to me by my agent. The complimentary list was sent in Word and the Connoisseur's list was in PDF. mjobtx Posted July 10, 2017 #14 Share Posted July 10, 2017 For those of you that are interested, here is a copy and paste of the Connoisseur's Wine List labeled as Prime 7 on the cover page. Apologies for the formatting. The number after the price is the BIN#. The PDF is dated 2015, but given that I have seen many of these same wines on board Oceania's ships, I suspect that while there will be some changes, the bulk of the list is standard. I don't know why they would be reluctant to release the lists except they don't want to deal with the occasional person that says "Well you told me that "myspecialwine" was available." The lists are point in time and absolutely subject to change but for wine lovers, they are helpful. mjobtx Posted July 10, 2017 #15 Share Posted July 10, 2017 There is also a PDF dated September 2015, and named Reserve Wine List. On the cover, it says "Connoisseur Wine List" but does not designate as Prime 7. It has some very different wines on it as well. Unfortunately, due to its format, I can't copy and paste it here. Again, these lists are dated and only useful as guides but I have found many of the wines on all of these lists on board the Oceania Marina and the Insignia so I have reason to believe that the lists are relatively accurate even to this day. golfer21 Posted July 11, 2017 Author #17 Share Posted July 11, 2017 Thank you Michael, you went above and beyond. Happy to see my favourite Santa Margherita is still on the list in Sette Marie. The rep I spoke with at Regent was the first one I have come across who really was not helpful, got the feeling he was not interested guess he was having a bad day. mjobtx Posted July 11, 2017 #20 Share Posted July 11, 2017 I just wish I could post the other list. It has some very interesting wines on it like the Chiarello that I was introduced to on Oceania. I am trying to find a way to copy it but I don't hold out much hope.
mjobtx Posted July 11, 2017 #21 Share Posted July 11, 2017 I found a way. It isn't pretty but it is readable. This came from a PDF named Reserve Wine List Updated September 2015. Setting aside the issue of multiples, there are some interesting wines on this list. Some of the multiples are more reasonable than others but we are a captive audience and they are in the business of making money. Most of these wines will remain on the list. I don't know about the wine cellars on Regent's ships but I know conditions vary on Oceania's ships. Storage conditions on the Marina are excellent. On Insignia because it is an older ship, wine is stored at too high of a temperature. I always have to have both my red and white wines cooled for quite some time before they are at drinking temperature. Longer of course, for white, sparkling, and dessert wines. Clay&Jenn Posted July 12, 2017 #24 Share Posted July 12, 2017 Thanks a million for posting this!!! We will have a large shipboard credit on our upcoming cruise, so now we can peruse & choose at our leisure... we can take our time choosing our wine... ;)
eliana Posted July 12, 2017 #25 Share Posted July 12, 2017 (edited) Thanks Mikenbob. The 2016 list is similar to what we enjoyed on our Regent cruise in 2016. However we embark on Explorer in a couple of weeks and it is likely that their complimentary 2017 list might be different even very different. As long as they have a good New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, a good Merlot, preferably Chile or France, a good Pinot Noir maybe New Zealand or California as well as a good Cotes du Rhone preferably Guigal as well as Chateauneuf du Pape.
