Disappointed with RCL/Allure.

Recommended Posts

I gather that the O.P. is a multi millionaire, single father, who is inclined to drinking & gambling. Casinos love him so much that Caesars palace has gifted him 3 NCL cruises and 1 Royal Caribbean cruise, that too in a suite! Wow!

Dear weespeed, correct me if I am wrong.

If your comped suite is a true suite and not a junior suite you have a lot of extra benefits, especially on an Oasis class ship. Suite lounge on board, specialty dining, reserved seating, concierge use, and more, at no additional charge. These benefits apply only to the people booked in the suite, other than perhaps having others as guests for dinner - don't miss out on the benefits of the "suite life".

I'm intrigued as well. Firstly anything above a JS normally has a sofa bed yet OP says it doesn't. I can't believe the OP has no idea what cabin they are in. Firstly it says on boarding pass! Secondly, even if the cruise was free, I'd want to look at the cabin beforehand, check its location etc.

One way to resolve the cabin issue would be for the OP to advise what color sea pass they have. That would help narrow it down!

Drinking and gambling, yes, but getting drunk enough that you require your mother to care for your child to facilitate the drunkenness, no. That's just plain juvenile and pathetic.

Having a responsible and sober person looking over your child while you enjoy some drinks and gaming is juvenile and pathetic? WOW. I think that's about the most responsible thing an adult could do. Grandma loves watching the kids while the parents go out. What a ridiculous comment from you.

I'm not single and yes to the drinking and gambling. It's my vice. Hard to pass up a good scotch. Which RCL does have Oban 14 that I've been drinking.

I've been gifted 5 cruises through Ceasars and only went on 4 of them. RCL was gifted to me by Peppermill. My Vegas days are few ever since my 5 year old. I've been playing closer to home.

As for my suite, I do have access to California Kitchen but my family does not. I don't book anything and don't deal with RCL, It's all done through my host who takes care of everything. I just say yes or no. After all of these questions about my suite I looked on their site and not 100% sure.

I have a deep green seapass card. While others in the other rooms I booked have light blue cards. The card says sea class and has royal suite in light blue on the left side.

I'm just happy my room is big with a walk in closet compared to the large balcony rooms I booked.

I rather have my mother watch my son while I'm out doing late night cruise things which may include alcohol. If it does include alcohol and I'm tipsy it's nice to have one of my best and trusted friends watch my most precious thing in the world.

Sounds like you have a junior suite. It's a little wider and has the walk in closet and bath tub compared to other rooms.

Glad you are getting out and having fun. I bring my mom on cruises to watch the kids at night, too. That's what you are supposed to do!

What is the total drink limit for parents while kids are with the grandparents?

Ok, I'm going to stop with the leading questions. It's beyond obvious you don't like the OP bagging on RCL so you're trying to make them out to be bad parents, through weird logic that flies in the face of what many, many responsible adults do--arrange for proper child care and then get their booze on.

If you want to clutch your pearls, look to the parents who don't bother with step one.

Dear weespeed, how much does a customer in Caesar's palace need to gamble (total amount) in order to get a free Cruise?

Also, how much money does the casino have to earn (profit only) from a customer, in order to gift him a FREE CRUISE?

On the Allure this past spring & couldn't disagree with you more. Our cabin steward was just great! Very personable, always greeted us by name, always smiling. Our dinners were always good too. There wasn't one meal that we didn't enjoy. While pool servers were not always around, walking to the bar to get a drink didn't take very long either.

Sorry you didn't enjoy this cruise. Alot of people never get to go on one, so be thankful you're one of the fortunate ones.

Drsel- as someone who handles marketing for a casino you have to lose A LOT. I have players that lose $200k a year that haven't been given a cruise, unless it's a group cruise where the casino is booking a large number of rooms and sending staff as well.

Drsel,

On question number one it's hard to say.

I used to play alot more but with the birth of my son I don't go as much. Also playing like I did just didn't feel right after having him. I've scaled back a lot.

They track you off how much you play, but most importantly how long you play. I guess you could say it's amount x time. You could sit down and drop $5k a hand for 10 minutes and they'll notice and will give some perks like shopping sprees etc. But if you played $500 a hand for say 5 hours. They'll give you so much more because you're willing to risk the potential of a lot of money for all that time. They are hoping you play $500 a hand and lose for 5 hours. People that walk by a table and drop all their wad on a couple of hands are doing it wrong.

Ceasers like all casinos has a points system. Like the cruise lines. The more you go the more points you get. The more you gamble the more points you get. As you add up points you move up in perks.

I prefer not to get into what I bet and stuff like that. I can tell you I was flying to Vegas a lot sometimes 4 times a month. Also at Ceasers I was a 7 star member. I haven't played much there so I'm not a 7 star anymore.

Just like cruise ships the perks were great. Now if it was worth it for the amount I won or loss its hard to say. If I couldn't afford it I wouldn't have done it. It's something I said if I lost it, it wouldn't break me financially.

As for the second question I couldn't answer that. You'd have to ask a host or player relations that one. But by giving me a free cruise, it makes me go Hey, I gamble here and look what I got. So they hope to keep luring me back. The cruise lines want you because they want you to play like you did at the land casino in their casino. And they are hoping a guy like me will do nothing but play. Which I do. But less now with a family.

Also the gift cruises are ok, they are nice and all but the casinos do give out better gifts and other perks.

Hope that answers some of your questions.

Caesars gifted him 4 cruises on NCL but not Royal. I think he got the Royal comp for another Casino.

Don't believe one needs to be a multi millionaire to play enough to get comped cruises.

But a casino marketing manager confirmed that even gamblers who give the casino a profit of $200,000 p.a. don't get a free Cruise. It's got to be much more

I've been offered comped balcony cabins by Royal that were upgradable to JS for $200. I'm not a multi millionaire.

Yes, very accurate info. It takes a bit more money for comps in Vegas than with Royal although the comps are not comparable and Royal has reduced comps and made it harder to secure them.

His play was $500 a hand and length of play was key. Similar on Royal except the amounts. Typical play for full comps, free cabin, I would say $50-200 a hand/play average over 4-5 hours daily.

I am a big NCL fan, but also enjoy RCCL. Sailed the Allure twice and loved it. My grown, fussy kids and their families love her also. Never had the problems you seem to be having. Along with the cafe on the promenade, there is a pizza place. I'm sure between the 2 you can fill your food cravings. Also food in the casino. First day is always tough, give it a chance.

I have been on the Allure and many other ships from other cruise lines. I'm sorry you are having such a bad time. The Allure to me was one of the finest ships on the seas today.

I'm wondering if the casino's have specific deals with cruise lines. I'd think the cruises would practically give away a cabin to the people who are gambling this much. So the casino's get to comp it and it may not cost them much of anything - or very highly discounted. Just a guess.

MGM or MLife partners with RCL. They will match your RCL status when you stay/gamble at their properties. They also offer discounts, and sometimes free cruises, to those who play their online games and apps.

Why this? Are you upset he was comped a Suite for his Casino play?

I believe the good doctor was trying to say some charters might encourage or expect people to 'sleep' wherever they want.

Yes, exactly.;)
