Aus Traveller Posted November 27, 2018 #1476 Share Posted November 27, 2018 Pies - I thaw the pies then microwave them for 2 minutes for two pies. Then into a toaster oven for around 12 or so minutes until they are lightly brown and also crispy.

But, by the time they are heated through, the pastry is a bit burnt and rather dry. That's why I heat them in the MW first.

No. 😊 If I had the oven on very hot (around 200 deg), the pie would burn before it was hot in the centre. If it was on slow (less than 150 deg) the pastry would dry out too much. I could put it in on moderate (around 175 deg) for a fairly extended period, but it would take much longer (and use much more electricity) than my method (2 min MW for 2 pies then 10-12 min toaster oven). The pie is hot right through but not burnt or dried out. Tonight is also pie night in our house. 😊

Docker123 Posted November 28, 2018 #1495 Share Posted November 28, 2018 I do not like to reheat pies for lunch. just wander a couple hundred metres down the road to the pie shop — hot and fresh.
