Public Access Computers

For my cruise, I'm only taking my mobile phone. I am not bringing a laptop. However, I will need access to a full PC for about 15 minutes. If I pay for a full day of internet service, can the public access computers be used with open access to any website?

You will be able to access the specific website, app, or widget that is listed for each level of WiFi package, as long a the device itself is capable of accessing your target. The problem comes when using the public computers on the ship, these are essentially slave terminals and may not have access to certain apps and widgets downloaded to it's start page or internet homepage.

Most will not have all standard options most are used to seeing on a laptop or even some tablets, like a flash drive port or web camera. So just using your general description of needing the computer for 15 minutes per day doesn't help us give an accurate answer as to if you can save packing space by not bringing a laptop or even a tablet.

Keep in mind that on some ships the computers are out in a open public area. For instance, on the Miracle, the computers have large screens and are against the wall between the casino and the Fountainhead cafe area. Anyone walking by can stop and see what you are looking at without you knowing it.

It is strange how they locate some of the public computers

I used one on the Conquest last year to quickly check my work email in sea days. I always found one available. Work pays the charge. It is easier to me than bringing my laptop. I used my phone to check email in ports.

I'm pretty sure the poster needs the computer for only 15 minutes, to complete a time sensitive task. Most people understand that a "public" computer is a "public" computer and wherever these are located, they are in a "public" area. So unless, the poster has a top secret clearance, looking at government documents on an "public" computer or if he is getting his weekly fix on the latest adult website, than I think it would be fine.

I never travel with laptops, and if I can't do it on my phone, than would use the ships "public" computer.

I know that, but on some ships the computers are not in a walkway where most people will walk at least once a day.

They used to have them in an out of the way location with no traffic walking by. Now they are in the promenade with people walking back and forth all the time

I dont use them' date=' so I dont remember them all, but I do recall the Valor having its computers in a nook inside Winstons Bar. It was very much out of the way and behind a door. Nobody passed by. This was in 2015 I believe.
