We will be sailing the day of the Super Bowl. Can anyone tell me from past experience what to expect such as how it is set up? Can you get your food at the buffet and bring it to where you are watching the Super Bowl?

Hopefully it's on the west coast, if not it could clash with English or European evening soccer games which would take precedence. At least for the early quarters.
It does not matter if it's on the east coast or the west coast. Kick off will be around 630 PM EST wherever the game is played. The game is in Minnesota this year. And if soccer is going to be taking precedence over the Super Bowl on a cruise ship sailing out of Miami.....MSC might as well just have a relocation across the pond where European Football actually matters to people. They've been saying for the last 30 years that soccer is going to take off in the states....sorry, never has, never will. Too many one-nill games and professional players acting and using embellishment to attempt to draw penalties.

6-30 EST, then you won't have a problem, that's 11-30 GMT and all those princesses will have gone to bed. Head to the sports bar.

But don't be fooled by the Miami home port, these cruises are marketed world wide, remember the most common complaint from Americans is there are too many foreigners on MSC. And they feel the same way about soccer that you do about football.

You will have no problem watching the Superbowl. When I was on the Divina last year in December there was a variety of NFL games on on Sunday. One year, on Princess, I was on the cruise for Thanksgiving and all of those games were shown as well. Yes, you can bring your buffet food whereever you like. Enjoy.

Go to the sports bar. If it is 6:30 in Minneapolis, it will be 12:30AM in London, and 1:30AM in Paris/Munich/Rome. There will likely not be any conflicting soccer games to start, and as the night progresses, less and less, as they will for sure be sleeping. You should be fine.

The sports bar is a good place to sit back and watch the game. It should be on your room TVs as well, and I would not be shocked if it was on big screen TV on the upper level by the pool, as, like I said, the Europeans will be asleep, and they surely have enough lounges to move the movie to. Best of luck, have fun!

I am on Seaside and my understanding is that you can watch it in the sports bar. The price is $375 per couple in order to sit in a shared booth. This seems astronomical to me. Last year it was $30 per person on Divina and that included 4 drink tickets and free food. They are already trying to sell the tickets this week to people who are sailing back to back. The game may be played outside on the big screens and you should be able to watch on the tv in your room, assuming the satellite feed is working.

????? This can't be serious. It's a public venue (Sports Bar).... If this is true ...it is a new level of nickel and diming or should I say "gorging" I have cruised on competitor lines during NCAA Basketball championship, NBA finals and World Series and never encountered anything like this. Yeah some areas were crowded and hard to get a seat but didn't have to pay to sit in a venue.... WOW

Seriously???? It´s the first time I´ll be on this side of the pond and was looking forward to watch the game... 1:30 am Monday morning is no option if you have to get up at 6 am - so I haven´t seen it for years here in Germany.

I got the price wrong. It is $350 per couple, not $375. You can also add additional people at $100 each. It will be free if you want to stand in the bar, but all seats will be reserved, even at the bar. I will try to ask if anything has changed towards the end of the week.

I would have to assume...The game will be shown on the big outside screen on deck 16. That being the case,,,, Who in their right mind would pay $175 pp for the 1st 2 people of a group to watch a game in the sports bar?? Additionally knowing the guy next to you leaning against the wall is watching for free??!! I just don't get it!! Hey...Good for you MSC...If you get vacationers willing to anty up...go for it!!

On the Seaside last week they had the AFC games playing in the Sports lounge-it was a really nice atmosphere. They had snacks set out on tables, and there were whole families sitting in there with their football jerseys on enjoying drinks and the game. There are nice little "restaurant booth" type areas with own personal tv and comfy seating . We saw families with little kids in those all watching together. It was really nice.

OK..now I'm getting a clearer picture (no pun intended).... The booths have a TV as well.... part of reason for Superbowl upcharge??

I've never been on a ship during a major sporting event when you couldn't watch it on every TV set in a public space. Plus they'll almost certainly put it up on one of the in-room channels so you can watch there and order room service if you like.

Of course, Sunday will be my first day on an MSC ship, so they might not do what everybody else does. Fortunately I'm a take-it-or-leave-it guy when it comes to witnessing brain damage, so it won't matter much to me at all.

The price of $350 for the first 2 people includes wings, pizza, beer, wine.

I agree with other reviews that last year's Superbowl party on the Divina was great. The Seaside charging $350 is nonsense. I'm curious if the Divina is charging the same amount. For the price they're asking I'm better off booking the specialty steak house and I'll still have tons of cash to drink. In fact, there's no way that I can drink enough to get value. Shame on the Seaside.

There are TVs in the booths and all throughout the bar. I was told that they were filling up the booths first then the overflow of people will be seated in the remainder of the bar. No seating unless you pay.

The game will be shown on the upper deck and in the casino.

Hi GB-

Please post image to validate that pricing.

Thanks,

This is not going to go well. $350 for the super bowl on a ship that has a European flair sailing out of an American port. A event, that Americans consider "the holy grail of sports" between two teams, the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles.

New England, the spark place of the American Revolution, Philadelphia the berth place of America. MSC wants to charge $350 per couple to watch the game in their sports bar. I hope MSC has a lot of security on hand.

Totally discus-sting!!!! Where does it stop? People will pay, so they will charge. Watched previous Super Bowl on Princess and they set up the main showroom, provided free food (wings, etc.) and reduced drink prices. No charge.

It is your money!

Here's a pic from inside one of the booths. Some booths only hold two people...ae731ed038896bd7b1e489a936845d54.jpg

I like that booths a lot! Would be interesting if you can choose the match on TV when sitting there. Unsurprisingly MSC usually prefers to show Serie A when many football matches from different leagues play at the same time.

The ridiculous charges I think we can forget. Sure, if really people pay this, they will also do at the next superbowls at the ships in America.
