Thanks for a great review. We're on the same ship, same itinerary , same deck and same side, so this was a great preview of what we'll experience in 4 weeks. This is the first Celebrity cruise for us, so looking forward the wonderful service and ambiance the line is known for. Again thanks for such great detail in sharing your experience.

Dutchclogs ~ I did have a magnetic snap on my purse, but I didn't keep my key in that part. It still could have been the problem though. A key holder did show up in the room on day 3 or 4, but I put it off to the side and forgot about it.

Yes, Musicalianne, I am definitely hooked now!

Thanks everyone for your nice comments!

Thanks for the terrific review. I'm heading on equinox on Saturday. How much was the sushi making class? I'm tempted because of the free sushi that day and then the $30 off the next day. Otherwise I'd probably skip sushi on 5.

I did the archery contest one morning. It was very well organized and there were a lot of people signed up. It was crew versus passengers, and I did not stick around to see who won, as I was meeting Kathy after she went to the art show. The balls were bobbing up and down on a stream of air, and you got 2 points if you hit

the one you called. 1 point if you hit a different color. I hit the yellow one for 2 points with my first shot, and then shot high for my next two. It was a fun event.

There was a lecture by staff captain Matthaios on how they plan a cruise and navigate the ship. It was so interesting! A few things we learned: We were traveling in waters 60,000 feet deep;

They keep a distance of 2 nautical miles between other ships; We had 12 foot waves the day before; The Equinox was as long as the Eiffle tower was tall; and they start planning each cruise 3 years in advance.

We also sat thru a lecture on the archaeology of Florida that was very good.

There were dance lessons, and pool games, and bands playing. There was an art auction. There were multiple casino tournaments and give aways. There were movies to watch, I think mostly geared towards the kids,

of which I saw maybe 20 of during the entire week. There was a baby at the table next to us in the buffet one day and every crew and passenger that passed by stopped to talk to her. She was adorable.

There was a party almost every night somewhere, a few they moved into the solarium because of rain.

The solarium

I went to the sushi making class at Sushi on 5. Great demonstration, and we got to sample what they made.

After the demonstration they gave me a card for $30 all you can eat with no limit. Said it was only good for that day. The next day in the buffet he came up to me again with the same deal. He said he was the waiter at Sushi on 5 and was looking for customers. What I sampled was delicious, but there was free food everywhere. Maybe next time.

We also did the free tour of the kitchen. It was spotless and so well organized. The only draw back was that we were at the end of our group and didn't get to hear our guide very well.

The sushi class was free. They made about 6 dishes and handed out chopsticks to everyone when they were done.. There were less then 20 people there, and most of them left without tasting anything. The class was very interesting and the two guys were very entertaining. It was only 1/2 hour or so and I would sit thru it again. It was early, like 10 or 11 am. Also for the $30 he was offering it was for an unlimited amount of food. Enjoy your trip.

This review is terrific. I do have a question. At the main pool (and solarium) there are what looks like secluded loungers inside white tent like structures. Do those tent structures provide significant shade or are the gauze (see-through). Hard to tell from the photos. TIA :)

Your review was great. Thanks for all the pictures and information. We board Saturday. My hubby loves Sushi On Five. Do you remember what day the class was? Sea day or port day? Was it listed on the Celebrity Today? Just don't want to miss this class :) Thanks!!

Bermuda Bound~

Is the above what you are talking about? If so, a lot of these chairs are in the shade, depending on where the sun is. The ones on the ends tend to let more sun in from the sides, like the picture below shows.

The deck below this one (pool deck) has a lot of shaded chairs. We never had a problem finding a chair in the shade.

The sushi class was listed in the Celebrity today left in the room. Our class was a port day, Monday, the day we in San Juan. We didn't get to San Juan until 3:30 though, and the class was early, like 10 am. This was the only time I saw it listed all week, so I am glad we didn't miss it.

Hello,

When my DW, Donna, came home form work this evening and told me that she read a really great Equinox Review this morning and that I have to read it. She was right! It is a great read. I really enjoyed your point of view from a first time cruiser. I was looking at the time stamps of your posts you are either an incredibly fast poster or you already had this typed up in Word and cut and paste?

Regards,

Kevin Reid

Obviously I am new to the board and did not realize there were restrictions when posting. On the Vegas boards when I write up a report I put it in a single post, so I did that here. When I went to submit it, it said that I was only allowed 6 pictures, and that I had 84! lol.. So I moved it, and then copy and pasted one right after another.
