need2cruisesoon Posted March 16, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 16, 2018 Yes Why? Because I like to see where my food is cooked. I get to check the kitchen for cleanliness. I get a first hand look at food handling and food preparation. I can ask culinary questions prior to the start of the cruise for recommended dishes. Good way to meet the Head Chef and assistant cooks. Do not miss the galley tour by golly. Sent from my iPad using Forums
miss prairie girl Posted March 16, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 16, 2018 Is there usually a charge for this tour? Do they give this tour more than once on a cruise? Is this where they sell you a cookbook at the end of the tour?
CruiserBruce Posted March 16, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 16, 2018 How the galley tour works varies by cruise line. But I have never heard of a fee for one.
Rare Keith1010 Posted March 16, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 16, 2018 As CruiserBruce mentioned for now it is free on all lines I am aware of. Hopefully that will continue. Keith
paul929207 Posted March 16, 2018 #5 Share Posted March 16, 2018 On Princess it is the last sea day and part of the demonstration by the Executive Chef and Maitre 'd. There is no charge
miss prairie girl Posted March 16, 2018 #6 Share Posted March 16, 2018 Lovely! This sounds like a wonderful experience! For some reason, we have never been a part of it! Think we will put this on our 'must do' list for our upcoming cruise! Thank you for bringing this to my attention!
Husky61 Posted March 16, 2018 #7 Share Posted March 16, 2018 Matter of personal taste. We thought the galley tour was boring.:)
Herfnerd Posted March 16, 2018 #8 Share Posted March 16, 2018 Its interesting but on our last Eurodam Galley Tour, we were so rushed thru it we had no time to really talk to anyone or see all that much.
capriccio Posted March 16, 2018 #9 Share Posted March 16, 2018 On Princess it is the last sea day and part of the demonstration by the Executive Chef and Maitre 'd. There is no charge This is usually lots of fun too. OP - In my estimation the Ultimate Ship Tour on Princess ships is by far the most important tour. It is pricey ($150 per person) but you receive almost that much worth of swag in addition to spending 3+ hours seeing the operations areas of the ship and meeting officers in each area (https://www.princess.com/news/backgrounders_and_fact_sheets/factsheet/Ultimate-Ship-Tour.html). Ok, this is probably what I was thinking of for the cost.
sflinch Posted March 23, 2018 #11 Share Posted March 23, 2018 Does anyone know, if they offer the Galley tour on Carnival Magic?
