PORT DAY Jamaica [emoji1135] Tuesday 02/20/18

We headed to breakfast on Lido and was of the ship a little after 9am, the gangway was not crowded at all. I guess all the early birds were already off the ship and enjoying their excursions. This was DH and I 1st time at this port. We choose not to book any excursions with carnival or any private companies. We played it by ear at each Port.

Our friends had texted and said they were already outside and had made arrangements with a driver named Dale, Who said he’d “take us wherever we wanted to go and be with us all day” (The 10 of us) for $30 each.

We got on the van and asked if it was possible to go to Dunn’s River Fall for a couple hours and Mystic Dunn for a couple hours.. he said “ sure, no problem mon”

Our 1st stop was at a market on the side of the road. A nice gentleman helped me out of the van and put a necklace around my neck and told me that it was for me, I told him thanks and went and browsed the market. A few of us brought water shoes and I brought a $10 waterproof phone case because I forgot the one I ordered on Amazon at home. I heard you’re suppose to do a tissue/paper test with these things before putting your phone in... but what the heck what’s more important taking pictures for memories or worrying about a $800+ iPhone....We got back in the van and the gentleman told me I owed him $5 for the necklace ... wait, what. I didn’t ask for this, I went to take it off and then the negotiating began (for something I didn’t want)... I ended up paying $3 for the necklace... we’ll one of our friends did, because I refused. Now we’re off to Dunn’s River Fall.[emoji847]

The entry was $20 each and they had lockers available for $10 with a $3 refund after returning lock and key. The large lockers are huge and was enough for our whole group to put our things in.

It was pretty crowded. We all stayed together and with a guide for our safety. I believe you can do it on your own, but it’s not recommended and the guides do expect a tip at the end.
