Booking Thru EZ Air

My wife and I will be flying across country next year for our cruise. EZ air is just now being offered to us. How far in advance do people book? Our cruise is march 30 2019. Any other advice will be appreciated in help with our air booking.

We book as soon as flights are available to get the route that works best for us

Caution however: only select “Flexible” fares. Then we check the rates often to watch for cheaper rates. With flexible fares you can change as often as you want for no extra cost and take advantage of reductions up until 45 days before departure. Prices and route options change frequently

Exactly what was said by the previous poster.

But for domestic flights, don't rule out booking directly with an airline. You might find better flight itineraries such as fewer stops, at the same price.

I forgot to mention we are getting $300 credit for airfare from princess. ($150 each)

We're on the same cruise and booked return flights a couple of days ago. There was just one itinerary offered by eZAir that would get us home the same day so we grabbed it. All other flights left in the evening with arrival the following morning.

We almost always book as soon as possible and monitor pricing. Quite often we'll rebook when fares take a dip.

You can book with EZ Air as soon as you like and then continue checking cost, with both EZ Air and directly with airlines, up to 45 days before cruise. Under most circumstances, EZ Air is cancelable with no penalty up to the 45 day window.

I keep reading that, but then can you lock into that lower fare? I've never done it so I don't quite understand it. So if you see a lower fare does one somehow "select" it and you're all set with pricing- with payment left to that 45 day or whatever date?

With EZ Air, you pay when your final payment is due (75days), but if your flight price decreases or you see a better time, you can still change it up to 45 days provided you booked "flexible fare."

I've re-fared our flights twice for our upcoming cruise, saving money each time. You look on the fare quotes and see something lower. Go into your account, select the cruise, and cancel the current booking. Then rebook the air at the lower fare. It was very easy.

When you book EZ Air, you lock in the rate that you choose at that time. If the fares go lower, you can grab the lower fare. If the fares go up, you have locked in the low fare. However, just like if you booked directly with the airline, flight times can change, flights can be canceled, etc. At that point, they owe you a flight to/from your chosen destination for the specified price, but that doesn't mean it is at a time you like. You might have to argue with the airline to get what you want at the price you paid!

Anything can happen between the time you cancel your flights and complete the booking process.

Click on Add or Modify Flights, select the flights you want, then replace your previously booked flights with the new flights.

Yeah, I tried that. It didn't work, but the cancel and re-book did.

I am going on a cruise this coming December. This will be the third time I am using EZ-Air for my flights. The great thing about EZ-Air is that if the price goes down you can re-book at the new lower fare with no penalties. As someone has already stated, make sure you book Flexible fares.

For my current cruise I booked the air on the first day it was available. I knew it was expensive but I knew I could re-book if the price drops.

All of the following prices are on Delta and are non-stop per person:

Feb 13 (the first day EZ-Air was available) I booked for $678

Feb 14 the price dropped to $632 and I re-booked.

Feb 20 the price dropped and I re-booked for $598

Apr 1 a new flight was added and I re-booked for $443

May 16 the price dropped again and I re-booked for $409.

The Delta prices go up and down like the stock market. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason for the price fluctuations. Usually these lowered prices are for only a day or sometimes a few hours.

Delta is the only airline that flies non-stop from Minneapolis to Fort Lauderdale, so it is the only airline I consider.

I looked into EZAir 1st time for our upcoming LA - Hawaii cruise. I booked during the $300 air credit offer. I found nonstop AA flights to and from LAX, and EZAir offered them st the same price as booking thru AA So,,, we saved 300, have reserved seats already, don't have to pay for them until 11/01, paid $0 deposit, and got OBC by booking with two of our FCCs. Thauk you Princess ! Mike in CT

Since you have nothing to lose if you do “flexible” flights, I’d book sooner rather than later. Current fuel costs could continue to rise, so flights may become more expensive...just a thought.

I agree with LEW. Never CANCEL. I did that once to my profound aggravation over the next couple of weeks until the fares dropped again.

I'm not sure why it didn't work for moki'smommy.

I would suggest that if it doesn't work next time, call Princess before canceling.

We went ahead and booked thru EZ Air and got booked on Delta nonstop round trip for 2 for $605.

Do we pick our seats thru EZAir or Delta? Also can we upgrade our seats? Will the upgraded seats be moved if we change flights with Delta? so many questions come to mind when you start looking.

To check for a price through EZ Air on your Personalizer

- go to Transportation

- you will see your flight information

- at the bottom of the page, click, Modify my reservation

- next page, top right have corner - change flights

- fill your information for your flight

- select the flights your want

- if cheaper, select

- if higher or the same, leave the page

- it will ask, do you want to cancel, click yes

- it will show the new flights, new price

- you will get NEW BOOKING numbers for Princess and the airline EACH time you change a booking

- any information you had in the old booking will have been CANELLED - ex. - seats, airline account number.

Sometimes, I have been able to reserve my seat, sometimes, I have to go to the airline to reserve a seat.

I always reserve under Flexible and watch the EZ prices. I have changed my flight price many times due to cheaper price. I also watch the airline prices and take the best price. Example - I had a good EZ price going to London for July with Air Canada and had changed it a few time over the year for a cheaper price. I also checked direct with the airline and found that day the airline was cheaper than EZ so I booked with the airline and then cancelled EZ flight.

Took your advice and the price dropped from $605 for 2 to $520.20 for 2. thanks for the advice. It worked just like you said.

I have a problem with EZ. I had booked flights and had seat assignments for all flights when out of the blue I get an email that informed me that my direct flight from Amsterdam to Salt Lake City was changed to include a stop in Atlanta and it had a layover to the next day before continuing on to Salt Lake. This was not expected and not convenient. Had to get luggage go through customs and get a hotel for the night. I did have the option to cancel, but turns out all alternative flights were more expensive. Last time I use not so EZ air.

Did the original flight still exist on the airline's website? If not, you have an issue with the airline, not eZAir.

Yes, the flight still existed. When I tried to get back on that same flight, the price was now an additional 200.00. I have used EZ Air in the past and never had this type of an issue. Although I have received flight schedule changes in the past from them it is usually only 10-15 minutes. Just seemed a little shady to me. I agree that if the airline no longer had that flight available then EZ made the needed changes but an overnight connection was brutal. Got to hotel at 11:30 PM and had to be up at 5:00 AM to catch connecting flight. Will have to weigh prices next trip to see if it is worth the extra cost to avoid surprises. Cheers

I have seen discussions here where flights were changed to unacceptable itineraries. Typically a phone call to Princess can take care of it.

Had something happen on an upcoming cruise. The accepted departure time for return home was no earlier than a 12 noon flight. Had a 12 20 flight booked with a fantastic fare.

Next thing we know the airline changed the schedule and now our flight was leaving before noon. To rebook a flight for the same day would have doubled our airfare. I called Princess and they were able to arrange our taking the new flight itinerary the following day, keeping our original price. To not have to rebook with tge new pricing, it will be more than worth it to stay the extra day.

So I am not the only one. Glad you were able to get things fixed to your satisfaction, but you have to admit it was a concern and you had to deal with a situation that should not have happened. Hopefully there won't be any additional surprises. I did email Princess, but got no reply. Probably should have called. My problem was the extra cost of the hotel and the need to be home on the day we originally scheduled. Turns out we didn't save anything by using EZ. Enjoy your cruise

The issue is with EZAir, not with the airline.

EZAir flexible fare says price is not guaranteed until paid for. However, as experience by many have shown, the price does not get changed.

However, with supply/demand affecting the pricing, Princess may find they can no longer keep the flight you booked at the price you booked. So since many people would be very unhappy if the price increased, Princess instead changes your itinerary to a schedule where they can still give you the original price.

The theory is that more people would be upset at price increases than would be upset with schedule changes.

So you are a victim of a price increase that caused the EZAir folk to change the schedule to keep your price from going up.

Victim is a good term to what appears to be a bait and switch situation. I agreed to the price and schedule when making the reservation, did not realize that they might make changes. Lesson learned. Thanks
