happy cruzer Posted June 19, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 19, 2018 Can anyone share how long it takes for Oceania to refund a deposit made to a Credit Card? The only other cruise that we have ever cancelled was Celebrity and it took about 2 days... It's been 5 days for Oceania so far. Thanks.

FWIW I cancelled a Celebrity cruise earlier this year and it took a couple of weeks for it to show on my credit card.
Paulchili Posted June 19, 2018 #3 Share Posted June 19, 2018 This is generally more a function of the credit card policy than the cruise line. All credit cards charge you instantly but take their time with refunds (usually the next billing cycle). That has been my experience on more than one occasion over the years with multiple providers. Rare LHT28 Posted June 19, 2018 #4 Share Posted June 19, 2018 it took up to a week when we have cancelled in the past we use VISA AMEX cards seem to take much longer to issue the refund to your card
happy cruzer Posted June 19, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted June 19, 2018 My reservation disappeared from O's website right away so I thought the credit might appear as well. Thanks for the info. I will bug my TA in a few days to see what is going on.
Rare LHT28 Posted June 19, 2018 #6 Share Posted June 19, 2018 With my CC any transactions do not show online for up to 3 days The transaction may be with the CC but not shown online If I call it is noted in my account with the telephone info Some CC companies have different systems Just saying
Flatbush Flyer Posted June 19, 2018 #7 Share Posted June 19, 2018 Not the same thing but, if you have a balance of refundable SBC at the end of an O cruise, you can get cash on disembarkation morning OR it will be credited to your registered credit card about 1-2 weeks later. Rare Ken the cruiser Posted June 19, 2018 #8 Share Posted June 19, 2018 We cancelled one about a month ago and it took about 10 days to get the refund posted back to our CC.
Rare Caroldoll Posted June 20, 2018 #9 Share Posted June 20, 2018 Varies, but I have never had to wait 10 WORKING days. I have usually received it within 5 WORKING days.

It was 10 days total, not 10 working days. Sorry for not being more specific.

Interesting it shows pending. Have NEVER seen a credit showing pending on any of my cards. And, always better to take cash than a credit on your card. You've already gotten the ponts and now they won't be taken away from you.

Get cash instead and keep points.

I am guessing it is your CC account where it shows pending it is probably like when banks hold a cheque to make sure it clears before allowing you to use the funds We have on one of our CC accounts that shows online any purchases as pending the other CC shows nothing online until it is actually posted to the account
Paulchili Posted June 23, 2018 #15 Share Posted June 23, 2018 Agreed. Why take a credit if you're onboard? Get cash instead and keep points. Agree, but.. I believe OP cancelled a cruise and wants the deposit back. There is no cash option in this case, AFAIK.
