Where was your event exactly?

I don't know KWV, but I see that your menu served all Laborie wines. We visited the winery in 2016, beautiful grounds and a great restaurant too. We were stuffed for hours afterwards.

Needless to say, I am jealous of your continued great times on this cruise!

This is the view while wine tasting, on the back porch at Laborie Winery:

Or is this one better? 😄  Now I feel thirsty!

KWV is the huge SA cooperative that produced oceans of plonk in the 80’s. If I remember correctly they also produced adulterated Sav Blanc made in a laboratory in the 90’s. Today they have learnt their lessons and produce some high quality wine.

Today there was another World Cruise event to Robben Island called "A Walk Through History".  WC'ers were taken by chartered ferry to the island.  Private tours included the graveyard of people who had died from leprosy, the Lime Quarry, the Bluestone Quarry, the army and navy bunkers and the Maximum Security Prison where thousands of freedom fighters were incarcerated for years.  The story of specific former prisoners was provided as they accompanied the guides.

Myster went solo on this trip.  Here are some of his photos.....

According to the Cruise Consultant there is no Meet & Mingle for this segment.  I find this extremely odd since we received a reminder from Cruise Critic on April 13 that there would be one.  Something went wrong here.  Not sure where the ball got dropped though.

There were certainly enough people registered.

You might email Cruise Critic directly and have them reach out to the SS person in charge of M&Ms. If that fails, or doesn't work fast enough, I hope that some of you meet up on your own and have a get together.

Dear DCCcruiser57

Charmaine the FCC is not from RCI.

I have sailed with her several times on different ships.  She did a six month contract on Silver Discoverer in a start up role, and to my knowledge has been with SS since 2016.

She is extremely efficient and very helpful, and I would be surprised if the fault for the lack of an M&M coukd be laid at her door.

Kindest regards

Master Echo

There will be some sad people aboard now as the Kingsbury hotel was one of those affected by the bombings in Colombo.

it's a sad world.

Yes.  We had a meal as part of a tour and then the wonderful musical event the next evening on the lawns at the Kingsbury just before we sailed out of Colombo. It is very sad for the country and, ominously, will change much for both residents and visitors into the future.

On a rolling, grey sea day on our way to Sao Tome this morning, a second World Cruise special breakfast. Today it was Champagne and Caviar.

And SS has advised that there'll be a "surprise" additional WC event.  When we are in Dakar at the beginning of May we'll be ferried across to Goree island for a visit to the Gates of Hell and a special dinner. As Goree island was one of the highlights of a previous cruise up the West African coast, we are thrilled and looking forward to it.

Latest word on the Meet & Mingle for this segment.....the Cruise Consultant has requested a list of the passengers who signed up for the Meet & Mingle from Head Office.  There may actually be a get together for this segment.  Stay tuned.

There was a moving Anzac Day Dawn Service this morning outside the Panorama Lounge at 6.00am attended by the Aussies, Kiwis and their friends. About were 50-60 there. The wreath was thrown into the sea. It was followed by port and coffee. Thanks to the crew for their extra early start.

Thanks Turtle for the ANZAC Day Dawn Service pictures.  I have never attended anything quite as moving as this commemoration was!  Many wet eyes (including mine).  Turtle 2 gave a wonderful speech!

Yes it was the Tygerberg Children's Choir and Amira.  I don't have pictures to share.  Sorry!
