nelblu Posted September 7, 2018 #326 Share Posted September 7, 2018 Oh the joys of living in the US.We get free healthcare too in the UK. I thought our bills were high but these prices are an eye opener. Just curious, what do you average per month for utilities. Also, do you reside in an apartment/condo or a stand alone house. Ps. If you think your healthcare is free, you are delusional.
Rare John&LaLa Posted September 7, 2018 #327 Share Posted September 7, 2018 Sure. Stockholder. We generally sail in a GS. However, generally speaking a balcony cabin is significantly more than an inside. Why shouldn’t those people booking a more revenue generating cabin receive more loyalty recognition. Many loyal cruisers don’t generally take Royal excursions, pass on Speciality Dining, seldom play in the Casino, Pass on Drink Package, don’t shop much onboard, purchase Wi-Fi, take paid for Ship and Galley Tours, participate in fee based Wine/Beer/Alcohol tasting, Sushi classes, Park West (I’m sure I missed something). Why shouldn’t points be awarded on all $ spent with Royal? Sent from my iPhone using Forums I often find balcony cabins after discount, to be less than or equal to inside prices Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

You don’t typically book insides. It matters not if you go by $ spent. So someone spends more on their inside than you do on your balcony, then the inside in that case earns more points. Seems simple to me. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

If you think your healthcare is free, you are delusional. Large detached house.Utilities less than your paying. We pay a percentage of our Salary in National insurance which covers :- All doctors and hospital treatment is free. Big discount off dental treatment and glasses plus now I'm over 60 I get free prescriptions, eye tests etc. Anyone who is retired or unemployed or don't earn enough don't pay any National Insurance at all so for them it is absolutely free. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk I don’t think day in and day out most cruisers can find a balcony cabin cheaper than an inside. It makes no economic sense for Royal to rent inside cabins more than a balcony. Even if it happens, it’s not material if points are based on $ spent with Royal. pcur Posted September 7, 2018 #338 Share Posted September 7, 2018 HAL's point accumulation is based on number of nights, plus onboard spending. What I found interesting is the gratuities are included toward points. However, you don't get much in the way of perks until you reach the highest level. We sail with them for the itineraries only. Same with Princess: their loyalty perks don't compare well with RCCL.
Rare island lady Posted September 7, 2018 #339 Share Posted September 7, 2018 Try cruising the big ships out of Ft Lauderdale in the summer. This July there were only 5 pinnacles, 18 D+ and 60 D's. There was never more than 20 people in the diamond lounge at any time and usually only 8 or 9. This was our first cruise as pinnacles and we were in the top 3 cruisers on the ship. Several reasons there are limited upper tier folks cruising out of Florida in mid summer. 1. Nice weather in the north, don't need to flee south...and snowbirds are up north also. (I am currently spending the summer in Maine ;)). 2. Price. Always more expensive in the summer. 3. Too many kids on the ship. :o Summer Alaska cruises...we were #2 cruiser on Radiance a few years back with just 350 points, price has a lot to do with lower C&A numbers on those.
Rare island lady Posted September 7, 2018 #340 Share Posted September 7, 2018 Is there overflow lounge at blaze? Is royal using an overflow lounge at all? Rare island lady Posted September 7, 2018 #341 Share Posted September 7, 2018 Our gas central heating is a lot cheaper than your air conditioning. My electric bill at home in Florida was 37 bucks the last two months. I am currently in Maine for the summer. ;)
Rare island lady Posted September 7, 2018 #342 Share Posted September 7, 2018 I spent 10 days in a scooter. Luckily we had the RS, so the double doors worked nicely. But that's beside the point. It was just a joke to go with a ridiculous premise. FWIW, Oasis ships have accesible full suites is my understanding. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk When I broke my foot on Brilliance, they stuck me in wheelchair, that of course did not fit through our cabin door. Simple to hop onto the crutches, fold the chair and push it through. No scooter...poor Bucky was the "engine". ;)

Therefore, your healthcare is not free as you mentioned. Hey, we have a large population that does not pay for any of the health benefits that you illustrated--Medicaid and other low income earners. Remember someone is subsidizing/paying for it. By the way, do you have AC and can you illustrate what you pay for each individual utility.

It is free until you start working and pay tax.We don't have to provide credit card or insurance documents to get treatment. I am over 60 and bar some private dental implants treatment I pay nothing else. We have had a few hot weeks but in NE England AC is not needed. What I pay for utilities is private but is a lot less than others have indicated.
