Somewhere last summer I heard that there might be a Black Friday or holiday offer for Carnival or Princess Gift Cards.... has anyone seen anything like that yet?  Thanks!

Not yet, but it still could happen for Thursday or Monday.

The deal last time was purchase $xxx amount of Princess gift cards and get a free $yy Princess gift card. The free one was downloaded to your computer and you could print it out to use on a cruise. The free one had to be used by a certain date that was only a few months away.

….so this in the offer....."valid only for reservations booked from 11/20/18-3/31/19" doesn't mean you need to make a new booking?

I thought the same as you did. My husband read it as cruise items purchased using an AmEx during those dates (regardless of what was purchased). Turns out, he was correct.

We did have the offer last year while on a cruise so I purchased five FCC for myself on my card and five for my dh on his card.   Princess charges each one separately.   So we each had 5 $100 purchases which did not count.

Can someone post the terms of this agreement here?  I added this offer to my card and even got a confirmation email from Amex that if it meets the terms, the credit will be added to my account.  I put $500 down on a cruise for early 2020.  In the past, the credit has posted as soon as the payment has posted, but I don't see it on my account this time.  Plus, the offer went away from my view so can't see if that cruise is beyond the limits of the offer.  I have another sailing booked for Oct 2019 I could apply another $500 to if 2020 is beyond the time frame ... I just didn't want to take the time to call the travel agent to add the payment.

Not sure if I am going to get this credit ... but just don't know because I can no longer see the terms of the offer since they showed me as having used it.

You just have to use it between those dates - which you have. So it's fine.

Give it a couple of days for the credit to show up.

The reason you can't use it for FCCs is that each FCC is charged separately and this offer is for a one time charge of $500. Five FCCs would be 5 separate $100 charges.

It takes two to three business days for the credit to post. It will come from Princess to your AMEX account.

Has anyone used the offer recently to purchase OBC?

I'm trying to remember the procedure for redeeming while on the ship.

I seem to remember getting vouchers in our cabin and going to the casino to cash them in.

Is that how it's currently done?

And Happy Thanksgiving to All !!!

So excited to get to use this for the first time, thank you for sharing the information!

Are you able to use the offer more than once? Can I buy OBC and pay down a cruise?  Can it be used on more than one cruise?  Will be happy with any credit but want to make sure I don't  leave any on the table.

Thank you and happy Thanksgiving!

The credit just showed up ... I was jumping the gun.  In the past, it would show up as soon as the charge changed from pending to posted.  This time, it took another couple of days ... but it made it so no worries.  thanks for your accurate response.

It is a one time use offer but they do seem to come out about twice a year, so you can use offers more than once on a single cruise but through different offers.

I believe the offer states it has to be used towards a booking and not for OBC.  OBC cannot usually be used to pay down a cruise (if I am interpreting your question correctly?) ... but additional payment towards a booked cruise will work.

And ... Happy Thanksgiving to you as well.

No, I believe they cannot be used for FCC's .... I just wasn't positively sure and went back to view the details because I thought I read it in there it has to be used for a reservation with a 1 time charge of $500.  Alas, the details of the offer disappeared once I used it so I just wasn't sure ... so didn't want to post inaccurate info.

We have used this offer to purchase OBC in the past.

Amex has no way of knowing exactly what the purchase is as long as it's a $500 charge to Princess.

Again - not good for FCCs because it has to be a one-time $500 charge , NOT 5 separate $100 charges.

You can only use each offer one time.

And, again, back to my question of how to redeem.....

Has anyone used the offer recently to purchase OBC?

I'm trying to remember the procedure for redeeming while on the ship.

I seem to remember getting vouchers in our cabin and going to the casino to cash them in.

Is this correct?

Addendum to original question....

I just checked our cruise personalizer and we have a choice of buying OBC or Casino credits.

Again - if the old memory is still working we purchased Casino credits.

Looking for advice from someone who has done either of these recently.

Thank you.

I just checked my Amex account and there is a new "spend $500 and get $100 credit " from World's Leading Cruiselines (Princess, etc.)

Just a heads up for those of you with Amex cards.  :classic_biggrin:

Thanks for the heads up.  I checked all my AMEX cards and luckily one had the offer.  Just took advantage of the spend $750 get $150 back offer not long ago....

Apparently the offer varies. I had the same offer as yourself before. The offer I just redemed was make a $500 deposit & get $100 statement credit.
