Suite amenities / perks on Summit

While I won´t consider myself an unexperienced Cruiser, I´m rather unexperienced with Celebrity, so please bear with me and help me out with a couple of Questions.

This will only be my second cruise with X and the first one has been quite a few years ago, so I expect Things have changed. In Addition this is my first Suite Experience on X, as the other one was in Concierge Class.

I will be in a Sky Suite. I´m not quite sure About the Dining Arrangements. I am signed up for the Open Seating / Any Time. I also read that there is the Luminae restaurant exclusively for suites.

Now my confusion starts. :classic_unsure: Will Luminae be the place to go for dinner each night, or is this more like a specialty restaurant you opt going to on certain nights instead of going to the MDR?

If it´s the later, should I make Reservations for a time in the MDR in the cruise planner? What´s the menu like in Luminae? Does it Change daily like in the MDR, or is it a fixed menu like in the specialty Restaurants?

Another Thing, what´s the butler for? What will he do for me? I read About the packing unpacking, though I think that´s something I´d rather do myself. Any other Things he would do? I admit I´m someone who is used to doing Things myself and rarely I use the help of a Concierge either. Anyway I´m curious of Course what the butler Service is About.

Sorry for those Question that might Sound stupid to many of you. I appreciate any Feedback to my Questions, as well to other Things you might want to add.

Luminae, not the MDR, will be your dining room.  It is always open seating, no need to make reservations. The menu changes every night. You will also have access to Michael’s club (old name) the Retreat (new name) Which is open 24 hours a day. You’ll have unlimited drinks in the club. There will be a bartender there from about seven in the morning to late at night.

You don’t need to worry about the Butler, you probably won’t need him for anything, but if you decide to go to a specialty restaurant and need a reservation,  or if you need some out of the ordinary request, between the Butler and the concierge in Michael’s club they will take care of things for you.

Read the celebrity cruise website description of the suite for more information.

The butler will stop by on the first day to introduce himself, and give you the info on how to contact him. He will be happy to make reservations for the specialty restaurants, the spa or salon if you are interested in those things. He will also book shore excursions, take care of a faulty keycard, or other assorted tasks that you could do yourself but now don't have tp. There will be a concierge in the Retreat who can also help you, but we find that the butler is handy and glad to assist. In addition, the butler will serve you most of the meals you may want delivered to your suite, including a full breakfast, and he can coordinate refreshments if you want to have a few people visit you in your suite (such as for a sail away.) We have used the butler more on some cruises than others, and you can get by without using him at all, but his presence does make for a feeling of being pampered and a more enjoyable vacation.

PS --- We have never had him pack or unpack!

Luminae has a 14 menu rotation.  So you will have a different menu each day, and if you wish, you may order something from the MDR menu (we order Escargot several times a cruise).  Of the 14, we only found one that we were not wild abouy, and ate at Tuscan instead (upcharge).

On embarkation day, Luminae will be open for lunch, which is nice.  During the cruise, it is only open for lunch on sea days.  It is also open daily for breakfast.

The staff will quickly learn what time you prefer to eat; if you change from an earlier time to a later time, no problem, just let the staff know if you are able.

Butler will also polish shoes, deal with Laundry, and "fix" any issues you may have, within reason.

Hope this helps!  We have always enjoyed the Summit, in a suite or verandah.

Do you request that Bridge tour, or will it be offered to you?

It was offered.  I believe we received an invitation in our room.

But, I would spend time in Michael's Club and get to know the concierge,  He/she will be very helpful on a lot if issues.

Another perk was disembarking.  Meet in MC, and first off the ship.

We love suite perks and celebrity has great perks, we did celebrity last year and last month, last year summit and last month infinity a sister ship. Food and service in luminae was just great , can even order off main mdr menu while eating in luminae. Micheals has free drinks all day from early morning to midnight, service there was also great several 12 year old scotch’s etc , we did not care for there wine so they then added wine we liked , so no real need to buy drink package. Only negative is sky suite is not that big compared to suites on other lines.

Thanks again, I will look for the invitation  and yes I will probably make my way to the Club. While not a big drinker, on vacation I might enjoy a pre-dinner drink. It sounds like similar to the CL/DL on RCI.

Thanks to you as well. I know the Sky Suite might not be the biggest, but I rather compare it to the Mini-Suites on other lines, just it seems it gets almost full Suite perks.

Enjoy your cruise in a suite. My only complaint is once you stay in one you can’t go back to a standard room.

Luminare is your go to restaurant. You can show up anytime you want and they will get a table for you. However they do track the time you are there and try to reserve your table so you can sit in the same spot and have the same staff serve you. You can order off their menu and also the MDR menu. I would order off both menus and it was never a problem. The Luminare seats about 40 people were the MDR seats 400 + people.

You will also have access to Michele’s club for drinks and appetizers pretty much all day long. It has limited amount of types of drinks compared to their other bars but once they find out what you like they will try and make sure it’s there for you. A good place to wind down and have a few cocktails with hardly anybody their. They also have someone that can book any event you may want. We seen many of the crew members in their ready to answer any question you have.  It is also the spot they will escort you too when you first board the ship, so you can leave your backpack until your room is ready.

Helicopter Pad Tour is a must. Ask and they will add your name to the list. A great spot for photos.

Bridge tour is also a must.

Our butler did did quite a bit for us:

He took care a removing items in the refrigerator that they put into there for you to buy.

He would bring small finger food for us to eat in the afternoon in our suite.

I liked to drink milk so he made sure the refrigerator was always stocked with cold milk.

Escorted to our seats on the evening entertainment nights.

Arranged a few tours both on and off the ship.

Constantly refilled our ice bucket.

Served us any meal on the balcony.

He had great knowledge of most of the ports and could tell us were to go to get something special.

Arranged to have our clothes ironed.

I haven’t been to the new Sun Deck area for suite guests only. It’s area you can get something to eat, along with enjoying the sun. It also has spa style tub. Since it’s located on the rear of the ship sitting in the tub must be cool during a sunset.

The butler will do all of the things listed here, and also other requests. Our butler also helped my husband order flowers and a small cake for our Anniversary while onboard. Our butler was Chip, he was from Romania and he was awesome. He was constantly reminding us of stuff he could do, like get things ironed, could he serve us breakfast/dinner on the balcony, etc. I've read some butlers don't suggest things to do for you, you have to ask. But they are there to make your cruise pleasant, so don't hesitate to ask for their help with any reasonable request.

The Suite Retreat is on the forward bow of the ship, not aft.

I think you will find the sky suite a huge improvement on a mini suite if it is the Princess ones you are comparing with. We did 6 Princess cruises years ago some of the, in suites and the rest in mini suites and there is much more space and amenities on Celebrity

I have to say that being in a suite was amazing.  We also had a sky suite.  All the people assigned to "the Suite People" treat you like gold.  If you asked, they would carry you around the ship!!!  (Just kidding) But the attention that they gave us was outstanding.  From your butler, to the retreat lounge staff, to the concierge, to the Suite Retreat staff, their service is top notch. You are really treated like royalty.  Enjoy

We had a suite on Princess once, and didn't feel that special.

And tell Sasha, the bartender in the Retreat Lounge, that Chris & Derrick say hi!

Besides the Escargot, you can also get Shrimp Cocktail, Celebrity salad and Creme Brûlée every night from the MDR menu.

So you are not confused, besides your butler you will have an attendant who will service your room.

You should be able to order anything you want from the main dining room menu in Luminae.  After the first time we ordered items from the MDR menu in Luminae, they would bring us both menus every night without our needing to ask.

The sky suites on Celebrity are not really suites, only one room, (but a very nice room).

The special suite locations on the Summit (and the other M-class ships) were added as afterthoughts long after the ship was built, so they are spread out at different places on different decks around the ship.  Therefore you need to move around quite a bit to get from place to place, which can be a challenge for passengers with mobility problems.

Most of the suites are on deck 6 near the back of the ship, while the suite lounge is on deck 4 near the front of the ship, and the new suite retreat is up on deck 12.

While some people enjoy having their butler escort them to their seats in the theater on chic nights, that certainly is not necessary.  We always refuse the offer as we find it rather pretentious, preferring to find our seats ourselves inconspicuously (regardless of whether we sit in the reserved suite section or elsewhere in the theater).

A previous poster claimed that once you stay in a suite you can’t go back to a standard room, but not everyone feels that way.  We are among many others who go back and forth between suites and standard rooms from cruise to cruise very easily and happily.

We love the Summit and its wonderful staff and crew.  They have always treated us very well, even when we were not in a suite.

To ensure you make the most of your suite cruise please make sure you communicate to the butler and concierge what you do want...

For example, when introducing himself to you let the butler know if you want afternoon snacks delivered daily and if you do what you want the snacks to be. Many guests don’t particularly want the butler to do anything so unless you let him know you want shoes shining, a cheese plate left to enjoy late at night on the balcony or something else you may not see much of him. Use the phone number he leaves you to contact him.

Also let the concierge know if you if you would like a bridge tour or a galley tour early in the cruise. They will arrange it for you but may not send you an invite unless you have expressed an interest. On some cruises we have received a list at the start of the cruise of Michael’s Club events and on others we have received telephone invites or card invites so look out for all....

Hope you enjoy....Michael’s Club has a much nicer ambience than either the DL or CL on RC. Also if you are D on RC you will be Elite on Celebrity which has some valuable perks including free laundry. Make sure you register you status.

Sorry I´ve been off the boards for a few days due to heavy work loads. Something has to pay for the Cruises I think.😉

Thanks again to those who kept adding their tips and experiences. It sounds like this will be a great Experience and you certainly hepled me with understanding how Things work on X.

We have elite status and were "only" in a sky suite on the Equinox last June and did receive one invitation to a helicopter pad sailaway.
We did not receive an invitation to tour the Bridge which we would have loved (without having to pay the $99 per person for the behind the scenes ship tour).
So, on our back to back sailing on the Equinox again this June, do we need to request the bridge tour? If so, who do we ask?
