What time is best to check in at Cape Liberty?

What time is the best to check in at Cape Liberty? We have printed our passes and information but no check in time.

Boarding frequently starts at 10:30, so I’d recommend getting there by 10:00 to 10:15 am.

We got there about 10:05, and were initially thrilled to get the last seats in the general waiting area.  Then we discovered people checking in after us were able to walk right on the ship, while they *very slowly* sent those of us waiting onto the ship (after all of the status folks).  Very frustrating.  We didn't end up boarding until after 12:30, which was tough as I had been hoping we'd get our toddler fed and napping in his stroller by then, before the early muster drill ~2:30PM.  Struggled to keep him out of trouble in the waiting room when he was super tired, and then struggled to get him to nap before muster drill.  Dinner was also really fun given the short nap. 

 

So...I'd suggest either getting there before 10 so you're one of the first people waiting, or getting there after 11 and you may be able to walk straight on.

Before 10 is too early, IMO.  You run into traffic still departing from the previous cruise.  10:30 is the earliest that I would get there.

Our cruise departure was on the early side (3PM), so when we arrived around 10AM, the place was cleared out already from departure traffic.  YMMV.  But as I said above, after 11 is also probably good because those on our cruise just walked straight on, no waiting.  If that's the general practice, I'd say that's the sweet spot.

Thanks everyone. Not a long ride for us so we figure 10:30 would be good. Our 12 year old grand daughter is comping on the bit!!!

We take a bus that gets there noonish, we usually breeze right in.

Best time for you may not be the best time by my definition. We hate sitting in traffic and that last 1/4 mile on the access road is has been a horror to us. The last 3 times we sailed from Bayonne we arrived at the access road for the terminal between 10-11am and all 3 times the traffic was backed up past the side road that lets out from terminal and parking garage. This is not from the construction vehicles working on the new apartments/condos but just passenger traffic to the terminal. We knew enough not to pick the right hand lane as it's used as the "will call" for rideshares and car/van/limo services parking on the shoulder till they get their call, and cut off people in that lane frequently. But still did not get into the terminal till 11:30am or later. The only nice thing was because of the delays to get to the building each time was there were less than 3 people ahead of us for security and the check-in had immediate access to the clerks (in fact many were standing around looking for passengers to check-in). 

On disembarkation day for our Summit  the ship docked at 7am and we were off and curbside by 9:30am but had to wait till after 10am for our ride to arrive because of the traffic. For our next 2 arrivals back at Port LIberty, 1 on the Adventure 1 on the Anthem the ships docked at 6am but being bigger ships the line at customs was longer. On both of those cruises we were off before 8:30am but with Royal having a larger passenger capacity than X there were longer line for customs. So we were still not curbside till 9:15am for the Adventure and 9:45am for the Anthem. The last 2 times our ride knew enough to get to the port by 8/8:30ish to stake a good "will call" spot to wait not far from where the port personnel start directing traffic and wait for our call. So it only about 15 minutes after the porter set our bags curbside before the driver was loading our bags.

Our plan for Sept on the Anthem is to arrive either at 8:30am, as long as the weather is good and wait outside for the terminal to open to new passengers (we have priority and were told we could disregard our arrival time). Or If the weather is bad arrive after 12:30pm when the traffic should be all but gone.

This has been asked a few times. Plan to arrive at ten. This is from personal experience.

having sailed from Bayonne several times, I agree with what others have said. It is best to arrive between 10 and 10;30 am. The prior cruise mobs will be gone and the departing mobs will arrive a bit later. It just seems to be the best time. The last time I did this was in April for a Bermuda cruise on Anthem and it couldn't have worked out better! Have a great time!

A frequent Bayonne departer and we always look to get there about 10AM. Park the car in the covered lot and in the terminal by 10:15 the latest. Always want to get aboard as early as possible paying for the day might as well get as much of it as we can!

We have sailed from Cape Liberty a bunch of times too and find 10-10:30 is the best time for us to arrive.  We have only experienced a backup of vehicles once and it was only to where the road bends right before the bus drop off area.  Boarding has always started early when we have been there, typically just after 10:30am.  They like to announce boarding is starting at 11:30 and then two minutes later they start boarding 10:30.

Trans Bridge Bus  goes from the Lehigh Valley Airport in Bethlehem, PA,  nonstop to the port, paid $26 each one way senior citizen rate. (Age 62 and above).
