Aqua water Posted June 10, 2019 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2019 I am going to share the process I used to decide what ship and what room category. I spend quite a bit of time planning for our trips because I enjoy the process. We have cruised many times on different ships and lines. We enjoy Celebrity but have no complaints about other lines. We are Elite on Celebrity and other lines. I appreciate the current information on this site so I will share in hopes that it maybe helpful to others. 1. I decide what ship by destination and itinerary. Some trips are for touring and others beach/snorkel trips. 2. I do look at pricing and use the information but it is not the main factor. 3. I like certain embarkation ports better than others because they are easier to access. 4. If airfare is a significant part of the trip it is factored in under price. 5. The type of room- does not matter to us in a cold climate. We like a balcony on warm weather cruises. 6. I like Aqua Class but will not pay $2000.00 more. 7. I do not care where a cabin is located on most trips. 8. If I decide to splurge or pay less the decision is made by how many trips can I take per year. 9. I would rather travel more frequently but do occasionally splurge too. 10. If children and family are going it is RCL or Disney. I hope this is helpful. I am not booking Edge this cruise due to the Sky lounge not being there anymore and price. I might book it when prices come down. There is something for everyone.
davekathy Posted June 10, 2019 #2 Share Posted June 10, 2019 Thanks for sharing. I don't agree with your number 7. Cabin location is very important to us. We never book a guarantee and always book way early so we always get our cabin of choice.

janetz Posted June 10, 2019 #5 Share Posted June 10, 2019 (edited) Also monitor pricing before final payment for a drop after you book We have saved many times doing this. 😎 Edited June 10, 2019 by janetz
Orator Posted June 10, 2019 #6 Share Posted June 10, 2019 As a frequent cruiser I look at who's on the ship. Whatever works for you.
jelayne Posted June 10, 2019 #7 Share Posted June 10, 2019 Numbers 1,3,5,7 are not decision factors and 10 is n/a.

Rare Lady Arwen Posted June 10, 2019 #9 Share Posted June 10, 2019 Different strokes for different folks! We've been sailing with Celebrity for many years and honestly, I disagree with most of your points. I do agree with #2. Price is a factor for us, too. Everyone has their own criteria for booking a cruise and they are as varied as the cruiselines they peruse. Thank you for your thoughts.
ldubs Posted June 10, 2019 #10 Share Posted June 10, 2019 Pretty cool list & makes sense to me. For us: 1 - 3: Mrs Ldubs decides/handles these things. 4: Mrs Ldubs gives me dates and I book the air. 5 & 6: Same as 1 - 3 7: Mrs Ldubs gives me cabin category and I select location. 8 - 10: Same as 1 - 3. My life is good!!
