georgia dawg Posted July 6, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 6, 2019 Carnival suggest only one bag per person on a 5 day. Any one carry on 2 bags ?
crystalspin Posted July 7, 2019 #2 Share Posted July 7, 2019 I'm pretty sure that is just a suggestion, although I have not sailed with Carnival. (Only their subsidiary Holland America.) Remember the more you take, the longer it takes to unpack and repack, and this is a real thing. We normally travel with rollaboard (carryon) suitcases and a daypack each. Last summer we had invited seven members of my family to sail to Alaska and since I felt somewhat responsible that everyone have a great time and that we have everything for anyone's needs -- not saying this was a true or healthy thing to think! -- I packed and checked a 24" suitcase. I was impressed how much longer it took to unpack and pack to leave! It seemed to go on forever!
Rare Essiesmom Posted July 7, 2019 #3 Share Posted July 7, 2019 I carry on a 22" bag and a backpack. And I still have more than I need. And this is for anywhere from 4-21 days. EM

Rare brillohead Posted July 7, 2019 #5 Share Posted July 7, 2019 You're ALLOWED to take as much luggage as you want to. However, you shouldn't need all that much.
Aplmac Posted July 7, 2019 #6 Share Posted July 7, 2019 One small-ish suitcase for Her, and one for Him. In addition we carry a small drag-along thingy with long telescoping handle and I carry a small (Cruise Critic!)tote bag with camera gear which handily fits in tandem with said drag-along. And that's it! Why a couple would need more is beyond us both. Mind you, fancy gear for Elegant Nite can get bulky, but even so!
crystalspin Posted July 8, 2019 #7 Share Posted July 8, 2019 Good point -- if Carnival is saying "one bag", it indicates they've dispensed with black-tie for so called formal night.

They did that years ago. OP, it's just a suggestion, they won't deny boarding if you bring more.
cb at sea Posted July 8, 2019 #9 Share Posted July 8, 2019 Most cruise lines say 200 LBS per person....YIKES! No one needs that much stuff! If you're flying to port, cross-pack...divide your clothes among both suitcases, in case one goes missing...that way, everyone will have SOMETHING! Schoifmom Posted July 8, 2019 #10 Share Posted July 8, 2019 As everyone said before, it is a suggestion. I will say, however, that if you need more than 1 suitcase and 1 carry-on bag of some sort, you are probably way over-packing for a 5 day and should perhaps rethink what you are bringing. Some carry one, other two, some three and others four or more. Take what you want, but if you can't fit the clothes for a 5 day cruise in a single bag you are taking too many clothes.
