discru Posted October 21, 2019 #1 Share Posted October 21, 2019 I'm thinking of taking a quick 4 night cruise, and was wondering if it was possible to make Prime when you only have 1 Sea Day to work with. I would be playing slots.. The other days don't look like there is a lot of time the casino would be open... We go to Nassau and will be in port 8am - 9pm!! Is the casino only open AFTER 9pm that day?? The other day is Coco Cay 7am-5pm. I realize that if I stay in the casino until 3 am it might be possible, but was wondering if 4-5 hours for 3 days would get me there..or even close? I know that it depends on how much $ you play through the machine, but my question is mainly abt is it even possible. Wish I had more sea days, or less time in Nassau. Seems like the entire day in Nassau is shot, if I want to go to the casino. I have a few hundred points already, but would like to aim for the 2400 points in 1 cruise, if I did it. Just curious, as it seems a lot of folks earn Prime on 7 nighters, not sure if people do on a 3 or 4 night cruise. Thanks for any help you can give. ed01106 Posted October 21, 2019 #2 Share Posted October 21, 2019 Not an expert on this but my understanding is it is based on amount wagered. So if should happen much quicker if you always play max bet vs playing min bet.

Just not sure one day at sea and only a couple nights gives you enough time to rack up points. Maybe it’s the same difference... playing for example $3 games for longer vs $25 games for a shorter amt of time. I have no idea. I’m very new to this. jinx73 Posted October 22, 2019 #4 Share Posted October 22, 2019 I hit Prime on a 5 day cruise, as the previous poster said, much is going to depend on how much you are willing to bet and what your average bet is, if you are playing smaller amounts, 4 days may not be enough, if you are betting higher amounts and willing to risk more you can make it in a day. Thank you. That's what I was thinking... I'll just wait until I can book a longer solo cruise, or one with 2 days at seas. Do you mind if I ask you another question? I've called the Club Royale and talked to someone who got as confused, or more, than I... If you make Prime on a cruise in Jan 2020... are you "Prime" and potentially getting emails/flyers for cruises until March 31, 2021 (which would give you over a year of getting perks), with the free cert only able to be used Ap 2020-March 31, 2021? What happens if you make "Prime" on April 2, 2020? Are you considered Prime not for 2020, but only for the following year (March 2021-Ap 2022) and the free cert can only be used then (2021-2022) The lady on the phone seemed to indicate there were times you are prime for more than 1 year, and other time you are Prime for 12 months... just depends on when you reach Prime level. Slots award 1 point for each $5 played on the slot. If you bet big, ($5 or more per spin) you will get your points faster. If you bet small ($1.25 bet on a quarter machine) it will take you a lot longer to get your points. It is definitely possible if you are wagering $5 and up per spin to get 2400 points on a short cruise but it will take a fair amount of play time. discru Posted October 23, 2019 Author #9 Share Posted October 23, 2019 Thank you, OHCruisinDad! Sounds like it's doable...just need to decide if I want to do it. ...or wait for a longer cruise. 😉
ed01106 Posted October 23, 2019 #10 Share Posted October 23, 2019 If you play $5 per spin you get one point per spin. You need to 2400 points. Per google the average player can spin at slots 600 times per hour. Per my math you can accomplish this in 4 hours then.
fla gang Posted October 28, 2019 #11 Share Posted October 28, 2019 If you get lucky enough to get on a machine that will keep you playing on house money for a few hours each time you play then it is doable. I had 1400 on a 4 days with 3 port days and stayed in the casino each night until midnight. I finally went through what I had took, but my 7 day and 4 day combined got me Prime. Spoke to a lady that on day 3 had 23,000 points. She was playing 2 machines at max bet.
skeeter195 Posted November 1, 2019 #12 Share Posted November 1, 2019 OP. Here is an idea. Do not chase points or comps. Play to win if you can. Betting small is almost always a losing proposition. Why not try and play the $5 machines at max or the $25 machines at max therefore wagering $25-125 per spin. That may seem crazy to some people but think about it. If you can survive long enough by staying even or close to it you will hit the 2400 points in no time(100 spins at $125 per is 2500 points). Now even better if you hit a few good spins(not even jackpots) early on say the heck with the points and comps. Just take the winnings and buy all of the comps and the next cruise outright. I have been doing this for years with blackjack and craps on cruises. I hit and run on the tables. I will buy in with 1-3 thousand and if I can win even 25% I will lock up the win and play on house money for the session. Sometimes I will play for hours and sometimes for less than 5 minutes. My comps have been suffering the last few years as I do not put the long hours in anymore. On the plus side though over the last 10 cruises I have a total win of over 43,000 so an average of $4300 per cruise. I have learned to not try and get every chip in the rack when I play, which will usually lead to a loss. On my last cruise I played seriously for a total of less than 40 minutes and won almost 6K. I played blackjack another 5-6 hours with friends at a $6 table(BTW the worst blackjack game for making money because of the 6:5 odds) drinking and having fun the whole time, this was not gambling but entertainment. I actually even ended up winning about $40 also.
lonig Posted November 3, 2019 #13 Share Posted November 3, 2019 I believe the casino opens at 5:15 pm on Coco Cay days.
sandebeach Posted November 4, 2019 #14 Share Posted November 4, 2019 If I remember correctly the casino opened before we left Nassau, maybe around 7 PM.
Sunshine3601 Posted November 4, 2019 #15 Share Posted November 4, 2019 It can be done and will take about $1000 to do it at the slots if you already have some points. Hopefully you win while playing! Try to get yo 2500 points and you'll get a future cruise certificate with a list of cruises to select from. My Dh got one of these certs and we won over $2000 in cash. That was a great cruise on anthem ots and we were on a free cruise too. We have been prime for 2 years and already prime for next year. You will love the perks. We took 3 free cruises this year. Could have done more with all the mailings we had received but we had to work So far we have 4 free cruises booked for 2020. All of them are 7 or 8 night cruises too. We even booked a b2b that is free for total of 15 nights on same ship and same ov cabin. Free drinks in casino is nice too. Have fun and good luck!

Sounds like it's doable...just need to decide if I want to do it. ...or wait for a longer cruise. 😉 Play the first session, per your normal play pattern. See how many point you earned and how long it took you. Get your "points per hour" number. Then just do the math. Approximate how many hours you think you'll get in on the days remaining. Multiply it by your points per hour number. Then you can see if you're even close. If not, wait. If you're close enough, maybe up your play from $2 pulls to $3 to speed it up, or get a second card and play two machines. You can also speed up your coin in by playing straight slots, which generally have better odds anyway. Simple Triple 7 games $1 with $3 max bet for instance, with no bonus rounds or free spin features. (I know, boring.) Some nights are better than others for points. Depends on how your machines are paying and how fast you're spinning!

She said nothing about reaching Prime within a certain bankroll, only within the time-frame. You can earn enough points for a grand suite in a few hours if your bankroll is big enough. Just find the highest denomination slot in the joint, hi bet max and keep feeding it!
