Wine-O Posted August 6, 2020 #1 Share Posted August 6, 2020 Looking at a stateroom on Deck 6 of Explorer, but don't want to be right above the smoking section. Which side of the Promenade Deck is smoking allowed, Port or Starboard? 🍷

Roger88 Posted August 6, 2020 #3 Share Posted August 6, 2020 I would ban smoking on these ships but the companies will lose lots of passengers because of that. I mean if I am not mistaken they are not prohibited from smoking on their balcony, this is one of the reasons people get cabins with balconies, to have an ability to smoke

I have NEVER seen or smelled anyone smoking off the balcony on a RCL ship since smoking was banned except for designated smoking areas. There are very strict rules and fines in place with RCL. I have heard many stories of passengers doing this on carnival ships. Sorry if your experience with RCL has been any different.

Thankfully smoking is not permitted on balconies. Below is the smoking policy for RCI ships. I believe the intention of the OP was to determine where the outdoor smoking area was as not to book a cabin directly above, and not to start a debate about banning smoking or not. Smoking Policy Smoking cigarettes, cigars, electronic cigarettes, and pipes is permitted only in designated outdoor areas that have signage (mainly on the starboard side) Smoking is not permitted inside staterooms or balconies, Central Park or Boardwalk neighborhoods, dining venues, theaters, bars, lounges, hallways, pools, elevators, or jogging tracks The casino allows smoking and has a designated area for non-smoking on most cruises. 1 minute ago, Sunshine3601 said: You Cannot smoke on your balcony with RCL or any cruise line that I know of. Rare livingonthebeach Posted August 6, 2020 #6 Share Posted August 6, 2020 This is from a January 2020 Explorer Cruise Compass -- looks like it's on port side not starboard as on most RCI ships.

Perfect. Thank you. We were on Explorer in January 2020 and had a stateroom on Deck 9, so didn't worry about it too much. I was only concerned at that time with which side of the Pool Deck I had to avoid. Yes, I hope they eliminate it, especially in the casino. This gives them the perfect excuse to do so. 🍷

That would be nice but I don't see smoking being completely banned onboard the ships. Now, I can see no smoking allowed anywhere indoors. 🤞

Bottom is metal. Deck 6: Higher decks:
