And another of a different sail-by... should not be difficult:

I'm pretty sure this is the Harvard Arm of College Fjord, Alaska.

My research tells me from left to right this view is showing us Bryn Mawr, Smith and Harvard Glaciers. Vassar and Wellesley Glaciers are out of view to the left. The Yale Arm of the fjord with Yale Glacier is out of view to the right.

Yes, this is College Fjord.

Here is a place off the previous list that I visited many years ago. It used to be very popular with U.K. visitors, so I'm surprised we haven't had it already.IMG_1648.JPG.1d2210fd629909de5f7ad738004557f1.JPG

This one is Aghios Nikolaos, Crete in Greece.

Another one from the "Sail By" location list.....viewed from a Princess Cruise ship, September 2016.

XY.JPG

This one had me puzzled for quite a while. That distinctive peak shouldn't be hard to locate on our list of sail-by locations. I eventually found what looked like a pretty good match for that peak to Mount Saint Elias on the Alaska/Yukon border. But then I figured that was a dead end since maps locate that mountain at the end of Taan Fjord off Icy Bay, Alaska neither of which are on our list.

I didn't realize there is a location on our list that offers this view of Mount Saint Elias. The aha moment came when I found images which are very good matches to this photo described as showing Mount Saint Elias from Yakutat Bay.

I'm going with Yakutat Bay, Alaska for this one.

Correct!. It is indeed Mount Saint Elias viewed from Yakutat Bay, Alaska, en-route to  Hubbard Glacier. This really is a spectacularly beautiful part of the world.

It certainly is!  I have a photo of Yakutat Bay also, in the distance beyond and taken from QE on the way out from Hubbard Glacier.  After an earlier clear blue sky and sunshne, it was starting to become overcast.

Something tells me two of the photos that haven't been identified yet are the same place. The other happens to be a port we've seen before on this thread, but of course that's no problem. We've certainly had plenty of repeats already (including quite a few repeats that I've submitted). It's good to have you back in the game, Roy. Since I've already identified a photo today, I'll wait until tomorrow my time to explain further if any of the photos remain unidentified then.

By the way, according to my count, the next new location (soon to be identified) will be number 550 on our list of ports we've seen on this thread.

Roy

Thanks @rafinmd. This is Saint John, NB, Canada, at the intersection of Princess and Water Streets.  As @bluemarbleindicated, we've seen this port way back in post #2175.  But repeats with new perspectives are always welcome.  Mrs. sfred and I had a very nice pub lunch on Princess St. during our QM2 call there on 3 July 2018.

I'll try a couple. The first is a "sail-by" that may almost be cheating:

dawn0819.jpg

Now that it's "tomorrow" where I am, we know this one is Glacier Bay from @rafinmd's recent post on the "Daily sunrise photo" thread. This photo appears here because of @sfred inviting him on that other thread to post it here. I would have left this for someone else to pick up on that trail but here's the deal ...

Well, here goes post #101 for me.  This is on the sail-by list, just not what you expect to see...

I only figured out yesterday afternoon that this earlier photo from @Essiesmom is also Glacier Bay. I thought it might be, based on the hint that this is "not what you expect to see" at Glacier Bay, but proving that was easier said than done.

There doesn't appear to be a glacier in this photo but in fact there is. I believe what we are looking at here is the dark terminus of Grand Pacific Glacier located at Glacier Bay. Out of view to the left would be the more conventional-looking Margerie Glacier.

Submitted as the 550th Cunard port/destination identified on this thread based on both of these photos is Glacier Bay, Alaska.

Thanks @bluemarble.  Apologies @rafinmd - I hadn't known that @Essiesmomhad also posted Glacier Bay.  That photo was unidentified when I suggested reposting your sunrise photo.  Our QE trip in 2019 didn't enter Glacier Bay, so I didn't have first-eye knowledge of what the area looked like.

@bluemarble, not that it matters a great deal, but I think we're now up to 551 ports.  Back in post #3766, you mentioned that Geirangerfjord was 545, which was also the case in my port text analytics data set.  Since then we've had:

546 Hjorundfjord

547 Tracy Arm

548 College fjord

549 Aghios Nikolaos, Crete, Greece

550 Yakutat Bay

551 Glacier Bay

Yes indeed.  That slightly sneaky entry is the Grand Pacific Glacier .  EM

Thank you for your audit of my port count, @sfred. Quite right. Somehow I had managed to lose track of my own recently added Sognefjord, Norway. I'm back in agreement at 551 ports identified so far.

If anyone is still looking for inspiration for port photos to contribute, here's our updated list of unseen Cunard ports pending identification of @sfred's latest contribution. I've added Hardangerfjord which appears on a Cunard itinerary to the additional cruise-by call section at the bottom of this list.

Thank you for reprinting this. Can we add the Isle of Arran, after QE circled it last week? Or have we had it?

Absolutely. We have not yet had the Isle of Arran.

We should also add the Isle of Islay which was on QE's itinerary last week. She spent one evening anchored there, so Isle of Islay might qualify as more than a cruise-by call.

QE was also anchored off the Isle of Mull another evening last week, so that might also qualify as more than a cruise-by call now. Although no one went ashore in either case, so perhaps not.

Thank you for the list @bluemarble.  Cunard is actually a secondary cruise line for me, although it's the only one where I've advanced to the top level of the loyalty scheme, thanks to their dual cruises or days yardstick.  I saw a number ports I've visited but none on Cunard.  A few of them have a Cunard connection and I'll start with those,  If you'll indulge me once the destination has been identified in adding the circumstances on how I got there.  Here's the first one:

I guess I have done this cruise-by before, although it has always been night time after departing the nearby Cunard port to the west.  Photo is public domain from wikimedia commons.

I'll go ahead and identify this one from @sfred today. This is one of the cruise-by calls from his home country. It's Wilsons Promontory, Victoria, Australia.

We've now reached the one year anniversary for this thread. Congratulations and thanks to @Host Hattie for starting this thread and for everyone who has contributed to it this past year!

As we've discussed before, this is far and away the most active thread we've seen on this Cunard forum. Hard telling how much time I've spent on it this past year, but I've certainly spent well over 1000 hours on it. This thread has been a most enjoyable pastime for me and I've learned quite a bit about Cunard's history in the process.

@rafinmd I think that's Agadir Roy.

Right you are!  It was taken on a cruise on MSY Wind Star from Lisbon to Barbados after sailing Eastbound on QM2.

BTW, it isn't really a port or even a close sail by but has Bishop Rock ever come up on this thread?

Correct!  Wilsons Prom, as it is sometimes abbreviated, is the southernmost point of the Australia mainland.  It is a protected nature reserve and has quite attractive scenery.  The public domain photo was taken from Mount Bishop.  I must have passed by several times on Cunard trips when departing Mebourne for Sydney, but it has always been in the small hours of the night.  I might have noticed the lighthouse beacon, but more likely was asleep.
