Mediation between CDC and Florida Collapses

Do you honestly believe that the high-priced lawyers for the cruise lines have crafted this work-around believing that it will fail?  To my knowledge, there has been no comment from the Governor, or his office, on this plan. In fact, since the lawsuit mediation failed he has been more silent generally about vaccines and the cruise lines. My guess is he is going to let this process slide and it saves face for him.  It would certainly be politically foolish to continue to push this and look like the one who is stopping ships from sailing.

There isn't a need for the Governor to comment publicly on this plan.   All he needs do is to refer to the law which this 'plan' clearly violates.  This appears to be little more than a negotiating position from the cruise lines hoping that the Governor feels he has to find an out.  But, that assumes that the Governor shares the belief that he needs to back off.   I find that doubtful at best.

But, as you say, we shall see.

Has anyone seen what Royal is doing to their ships sailing from Florida?  They are allowing unvaccinated passengers to board in Florida but restricting them on board.  Passengers that have vaccine passports will be free to take part in all activities. Those that do not have vaccine passports will be restricted in the activities they can participate in.

I don't see this being a successful cruise.  I can only imagine the fighting over masks and activities the unvaccinated passengers will protest.  I think Royal means well but I see disaster looming.

Considering the staff won't take parents to take their kids out of adult pools, or deal with chair hog issues....I can't picture "staff" to tell those unvaccinated not to participate in something they feel entitled to participate in.

Exactly. Also a little confused by RCI wording of the restrictions, about vaccinated guests being allowed to unmask only in certain venues for the vaccinated, but everywhere else, everyone has to wear a mask.

Like no way, I'll stick to a vaccinated cruise where I can go to every venue on the ship without wearing a mask.

Looking at the celebrity release (i assume it mirrors its parent), indivuduals who dont show proof of vaccine will also have to pay an extra $175ish per person to cover the mandatory testing they will have over the cruise, and there will be designated dining and casino areas only for individuals who have provided proof.  I guess they will have some kind of wristband that identifies who is who?

I have one word for this plan....chaos!

Nope...I'll be on NCL with 100% vaccinated people.  It's not that I'm afraid of getting sick; I'm not.  I want a drama free cruise.

That 'wristband' won't fly.  I've had numerous persons opposed to the vaccines tell me the passports are no better than when the *** forced Jews to wear the Star Of David.

The problem with all these work arounds is this:  ultimately they can be construed as making service contingent on providing vaccine information. As soon as someone is denied access to something, that will be denial of service based upon the failure to provide vaccination information.  That is a direct violation of the FL law.

Based upon my personal discussions, those opposed to providing vaccination information believe the COVID is a hoax, the death counts and case counts are exaggerated by orders of magnitude.  They also believe that the vaccines have caused more deaths and sickness than the virus.  They also believe that if they take Vitamin D and HCQ, then they are as well protected as someone who has been vaccinated.   They will not accept these restrictions.

We live in a world where it is easy to find a media outlet that reaffirms one's worldview no matter how outlandish and preposterous. Truth really does not matter any more to roughly one third of our country.  Their inherent beliefs tend to overpower common sense and cause them to seek reinforcement of their opinion on things.

Sad that there are so many that won'y get vaccinated.

But,  you see, they firmly believe that they know the truth, that it is the rest of us who are deceived.

That is one of the attractive aspects of conspiracy theories, that one is privy to a truth known only to yourself and a few others allowing one to believe in one's superiority over those who do not believe in the conspiracy.

I don't want to accuse all who are foregoing the vaccine as believers in conspiracies.  Many just hear snippets, rumors, etc., and are on the fence.  The anti-vaxxers have been able to instill enough doubt in others for them to forego the vaccines.
