cruiseracer Posted August 9, 2021 #1 Share Posted August 9, 2021 Booked on the Sunrise from 9-6 to 9-11. Day 3-HMC Day 4-Nassau Day 5-Bimini (Changed from Grand Turk) Carnival Test Requirement: 3-days prior to sale date. Bahamas Entry Requirement: 5-days prior to entry. If we get Carnival Test on 9-4, our eligibility for Bahamas-entry ends on 9-9 (Day 4) leaving Nassau-iffy and no Bimini. We could chance it and get Carnival test on 9-5, but if results are late - no sail. PVP agreed. (And offered full refund!) Am I missing something? Haven't read this article but another one stated that the five day rule did not apply to cruise ships. They would go with the protocols set by the cruise line.
cruiseracer Posted August 9, 2021 Author #5 Share Posted August 9, 2021 (edited) Appreciate the input. Our PVP confirmed our concerns and offered a 100% refund. There's a lot going on right now so perhaps she's mistaken or overwhelmed. Edited August 9, 2021 by cruiseracer
jsglow Posted August 9, 2021 #6 Share Posted August 9, 2021 (edited) The PVP is mistaken. Florida based cruise ship pax are not bound by the Bahamas entry protocol. They are bound by the cruise line requirements, subsequently approved by the Bahamas. Here's the key line from the article....... 'All travelers entering The Bahamas on cruises that originate in the U.S. will be subjected to the testing requirements mandated by the cruise line and approved by the government of The Bahamas.' I'm sure the theory behind is that the Bahamas can't make it impossible for folks to cruise there and still remain viable as a port option. It’s true! Just went to Bimini and needed nothing more than boarding a cruise ship.
firefly333 Posted August 9, 2021 #8 Share Posted August 9, 2021 I was going to say, we know cruise ships have been going there and will again this week. Not every pvl is great. They are just people.
ZoeyVictoria Posted August 9, 2021 #9 Share Posted August 9, 2021 I asked John Heald about the Bahamas testing requirement. Jacinta responded with the above info (does not apply to cruise guests).
RazorPokesHoney Posted August 9, 2021 #10 Share Posted August 9, 2021 We are on this sailing as well and plan on getting the test on 9/3 or 9/4 (we fly out on the 5th). It was my understanding from JH that those 3 days prior was acceptable but maybe we should do it the 4th just in case of any issues with sailing.
