I sent my evidence on 20 January and had the OBC applied to my 2 cruises, upcoming in 2 weeks within a day or so. Then on 31 January I emailed the request forms and evidence of ownership of shares for my father re the same cruises, auto response was should hear within 24 hours but no OBC added, chased twice more and still no avail. Anyone had a response in the last week or so?

Frustrated

I too am frustrated and have the same issue. Sent my request on January 28 then sent a follow up email on February 3 and i am cruising in about 11 days

I also snail mail my request too

If this OBC is not added to my booking in time of my cruise, is this something guest services can handle on board? i have all of the cases numbers from that useless auto reply email

When we sent our info in a few weeks ago we never received a confirmation email. I did check my online account and the OBC had been added .

that was my experience back in the day. So far the OBC has not been added and ive been checking my account every day or so. It seems there is something wrong with the shareholder office or somewhere. It has never taken this long to add the OBC to my account

Totally agree with you, I intend to have my OBC and if they do not give it I will reduce my Gratuites for both cruises -controversial or not.!

I too emailed the shareholder form and proof on 1/31 but have only received the auto reply below.   Anxious to hear where this goes.   I feel somewhat better others have had same reply without resolution.

Thank you for your e mail. Your request for assistance / support has been received and you will be contacted within 24 business hours.

Please reference case number 048xxxx in any further communication.

Sincerely, Norwegian Cruise Line

kenzie: why punish the staff by reducing their gratuities for something totally out of their control.

while i'm not 100% certain i belive the obc for stockholders is $100. we have had 100 shares since the stock fell to $7.00 per share and actually, i've never bothered to request this. not because i dont want the credit, but to me its not worth jumping through all the hoops to get it(as evidenced my this thread)

the the $100 obc should not make or break you, nor should your not receiving it ruin your cruise.

please reconsider your position and dont take it out on the staff

Same issue here.  But more puzzling is that I sent in requests for 2 cruises on 1/21.  One was processed, nothing on the other - which of course is the cruise sailing soon.  Sent another request on 1/30, third request on 2/4.  Crickets.  And it's not showing on my reservation.

There was an active thread about the shareholder benefit a few months back.   I also used the "jumping through hoops" description for the process when I posted there.  WOW did the trolls come out of the woodwork.  "What do you mean?" they asked.  "it's so simple - there's no hoop jumping required" they said.  Hope they don't come after you.

This has been an issue for NCL for some of us. I was on the Breakaway in September.  Took several attempts to get confirmation of the credit before sailing.  When we were on board, no credit. We had to lodge an inquiry at the front desk and finally got the credit.

now I am going through the same thing for my March cruise.  Submitted once.  A week passed and emailed a follow-up.  I am ready to sell my shares.  When it gets to even, I am out. Not worth it.

trex-de.  the stock was as high as $32 per share last year. maybe not this year or even next, but i'm sure eventually the cruise industry will bounce back completely, so you may as well hold on to them.

at $7.00 per share, holding onto the stock is like chicken soup--couldnt hurt!

and traveling man (whose opinions and posts ive always admired) the trolls may once again come out of the woodwork, but the gist of these posts surely indicates the op and others are having a hard time getting their obc as shareholders.

to all others, it amazes me how some people can make mountains out of molehills (ie complaining about not getting their "haven reserved seats" problem with obc for stockholders etc)

i cant believe that after spending thousands of dollars they still complain about the small stuff.

my sage advice: get over it, check into your cabin, go down to sugar cane (if your ship has one) get  a cold margarita (or 2 or even 3) relax, chill out and enjoy the cruise.

i've posted before. i book for the itinerary and the price, and once i'm aboard i'm a happy camper.

the rest is just icing on the cake.

Update - I got my credit with the help of my PCC.  I think they got confused because I had 2 Mexico cruises, 2 months apart.  The confirmation letter for the missing cruise actually referenced the other cruise as far as dates & ship but did get the reservation # correct and it's on my updated NCL invoice, so whatever...

kenzie, sorry, but you are soooooo wrong. why take it out on the staff? they have nothing to do and no involvement  whatsoever with the obc. they dont know you intend to lower their gratuities, so the level of service will be they same.

i dont know you, and most likely we will never meet, but  please dont make yourself sound and look cheap. it's most unbecoming!

Considering she was thinking about doing this over something the crew has ABSOLUTELY NO CONTROL OVER, I imagine kenzie always takes off her gratuities regardless, I'm sure something small happens when she gets onboard and off they go. 😞

one last thought for kenzie. i could be mistaken, but i believe the obc for shareholders is $100, so you'd be entitled to a max of $200.

so you would deprive hard working staff members of their  hard earned living  for  a lousy $200. its factored into the total cost of the cruise, and although you can dispute it at the end, why would you even think to do so?

i hold 100 shares, and although im not knocking it for others, i dont think the $100 will make or break my spending. it would probably account for the 1st night in the casino, and then poof! its gone.

what could there possibly be on board the ship that would justify screwing the crew members of of their gratuities.

your post is similar to when we were all kids "it's my ball and if i cant be captain i'm taking it home!"

while i'm only writing my own personal opinion (although  it appears aubreyc1988) seems to agree)

i think your position will make you look really bad to other posters, but since you posted your position here, i guess you wont give a d**n what others think.

still, i havent seen a lot of responses agreeing with you. if fact, i havent seen any!

@complawyer, I agree that $100 or so ought not put a big dent in the budget of anyone who can afford a cruise.  On the other hand, I've met some fellow cruisers who really did seem to be stretching themselves to the limit and needed to watch every dime.  I also understand the position of those who really, really, want to receive the full value for their money, to get every last ounce of whatever it is that they have paid for.  I think the issue that you and @aubryc1988 have raised, about exacting retribution against those who had no hand in shortchanging them, is on point.  It leads us to the question, though, "does NCL actually share those gratuities with the staff, or is that simply a way to increase the total amount a passenger pays without raising the stated fare?"  If we assume that NCL actually does share the gratuities, then absolutely it would be unfair to withhold gratuities in a fit of pique for not receiving your shareholder benefit.  I'm going to go out on a limb, however, and say that if kenzie (or anyone else, for that matter) truly believes that the gratuities do not filter down to the staff, then I can understand why frustration over not receiving the OBC could tempt them to withhold gratuities.  I still don't think it's the best course, of course.  On a couple of cruises, our shareholder OBC was omitted from our account.  We spent time at the Guest Services Desk, asking them to email the Miami office to straighten things out.  It usually took a couple of days and several emails and/or phone calls, but eventually we always got our shareholder reimbursement by the end of the cruise.  It never really occurred to me to use the missing OBC as an excuse to shortchange the staff on the gratuities.  I'm just saying that I can understand how the frustration might lead someone else to consider it.

while i have read your posts and answers for many years, and 9 out of 10 times i am in total agreement with you,  im sorry, but i can see no scenario where someone would consider arguing about the daily gratuities nor any justification to withhold same.

please consider that the staff is providing the same services to everyone on board and even if we dont know if ncl is dividing up the tips or not, i dont believe anyone should dispute or withhold this .

op seems to throwing a tantrum in a bit of pique over  conditions  of which  the staff have no control

prior posts have discussed extra tipping in depth. if kenzie was staying in a suite or haven, do you suppose she woudnt tip the butler or concierge?

i dont try and tell anyone how to spend their money, but im standing fast on this one, kenzie is just 100% wrong.  im not trying to brag (and its my own personal philosophy ) i tip extra for anyone who waits on me, whether in the haven restaurant, a specialty restaurant, the mdr and bars. i evengive the teppanyaki chef an extra $10 after the meal.

there is an old adage: " if you cant afford to tip, dont go out to eat"

if you dont like that a cruise line factors in daily gratuities, for the convenience of the passengers,  dont cruise. try and remember this is like found money. if you dont get it as an ncl shareholder, youre really not losing anything. it's a bonus

go ahead and spend 100's or 1000's of dollars for the cruise itself, travel, potential hotel stays, excursions etc, but its ludicrous to blow off the tips.

(by the way traveling man), the last 2 paragraphs are not directed at you at all
