Allure better off after cancelling the amplified upgrades?

I find your answer typical of many comments on either amplification or newbuilds.

"I sure want A, B, and C. Don't care about D and E. And I hate F & G"

The various parts are interchangeable because we all have different wants or needs.

In the end we gravitate to ships that meet our needs. Some needs are ship specific, some are itinerary/departure points, and some are price.

Will Allure be getting amped like oasis or is that on more of an indefinite pause for now.  It sort of makes sense to keep one a little different.  Although I’d imagine they would want to convert some spaces into revenue generating spots.  But they could surely leave out the abyss and do most of the rest and it just might be better than oasis.

It always makes me sad when I think of some of the freedom class spaces they took away after amping them.  Had so many great memories in the two story dance clubs (dungeon, crypt, and whatever other names I can’t recall).   Will never get to experience those spots again.  I guess things change and you gotta roll with it.

Harmony is my least favorite of the Oasis ships. Lots of shortcomings compared to Oasis and Symphony.

It's not so much what I don't like as it is things that are much better on Oasis and Symphony

I merely said she is my least favorite.😉

It's a common theme that I've read over & over the past few years that many people  do not like  the Harmony. Or, as you said, it's their least favorite.

What do the others do well that the Harmony does not? I know the Solarium lacks a pool that I'd probably only spend 30 minutes a cruise in so that's not a factor for me.  The shows are the shows, some good, some not so good & like food, will vary by taste. But thats' true for all ships.

What else?   I'm not trying to get you to bad mouth a Royal ship, just wondering.

@John&LaLa You can answer him. I promise I won't read your response.

Look, I'm on the road. To properly answer, I need more than my S9. Maybe in a bit once I get settled in at my hotel

No rush, take your time, keep your eyes on the road & hands on the wheel. I'm not going anywhere & we are kinda hijacking a thread.

Back on topic, I love Allure and believe Royal should keep sisters ships somewhat different & unique, they do not have to be "identical sisters" after all.  Having said that, I doubt I'd be disappointed if she did get ampd. The only thing I'd miss would be the Samba Grill  which appears to the meat lover.  As far as I know, no other ships have it. The unlimited meat probably is not much of a revenue generator.

Honestly, it might be some time before she does receive amplification. Royal has 2 years of missing money to make up first.  This is based on absolute nothing more than my own opinion & WAG.

The only thing going for amping her sooner than later is the parts and pieces may be in storage in Cadiz. They may also have contractual obligations for the work. This was debated extensively back in spring of 2020. I have no idea one way or the other. Could the work happen in Freeport, maybe. Once again no idea, plus they may have a deal with Cadiz.

No fond memories of the boxing rinks on Freedom Class, or the roller skate parks and big hot tubs in the gym on Voyager Class. Or how about the secret aqua theater balconies on decks 11, 12, and 14 of Oasis and Allure. And don't forget Oasis and Allure used to have a VCL on 17

The ships get 'remodeled" constantly. Pretty sure someone here misses the piano that used to be in the former card room on 14.😉

Personally, I wish Indy still had a wedding chapel, but I guess more folks use an Escape Room.

OMG, I forgot all about the boxing ring so I guess it meant nothing to me. The roller blading track was probably the biggest gimmicky thing on V class ships. It was short, winding, and half the time you were skating into a head wind. Explorer had a fire that messed up their track though it was repaired. I think that was back in 2003?

Vcl on oasis was so poorly used originally.   Saw some great shows up there but the room was horrible for watching a performance.   I remember two women, 50ish, maybe sisters, perform several times.   Or performances up there by some of the big show cast

members   Those were always fantastic.

The SL/CK is a much better use of

the space.

But less than 10% of the ship is allowed up there. Biggest loss of public space amongst all the remodels. 😉

Could you imagine what a nice CL could have been created up there if they hadn't added the CK.

And now the Pinnacle members are booted as well.

In the end we'll all get used to it

My wife and I are doing our first Oasis class cruise on Allure in October. We are jumping back over to Royal from Celebrity specifically to try one of the big ships. Nothing against either Celebrity or Royal. We love them both.  Glad to hear most think she is the best of the bunch.

When I’m in a suite I love it.  When I’m not I hate the change.  😂😂.

Agreed on the 10% aspect.  But at least the space is being used a lot most of the day and night.  Before it sat empty so much of the time.  Much of the entertainment up there was poorly attended on a lot of the oasis/allure trips we were kn.

Glad I never chased Pinnacle hard for that benefit.  Because it certainly crossed my mind.

Only people I ever saw use the boxing ring was on a Liberty TA.  It was twin brothers who did some type of comedy/variety show a few times.  They were really nice guys and there show was solid.

Funny that we enjoyed a show from a deck 11 balcony the first time or two on oasis and several years later did it again except that time it was our 1BR ATS.

We only sailed Allure once pre drydock. Weren't eligible for CL, can't recall going to VCL, and didn't know about the secret balconies because they were secret😉🤣🤣

I don't think any of the VCL's are known for their entertainment value. More for late night dancing with a DJ.

I seem to recall a YouTube of Matt Yee up there

Why I think Harmony is the redheaded step child of the Oasis Class

@Ocean Boy

@Jimbo

@topnole

@HBE4

Let's start on Deck 4

There is no walk up bar in Studio B. I believe Oasis and Allure have that feature. It's nice.

Not a fan of 1887 either, even the mid show guest performer is weak

I'm hesitant to complain about Grease, but it's my least favorite of the Broadway shows.

Columbus is fun, but it hasn't played since the restart, and no word when it's returning

MDR is smaller because they shoved about 20 cabins opposite of Izumi

Deck 5

No operating water feature at the Rising Tide

No Starbucks on the Promenade

Spa relaxation room is tiny

Deck 6

No access to the balcony over Boleros

No Playmakers

Fine Line is the worst of the Aqua shows, and they aren't even doing it now. Just expanded the old afternoon show, Big Daddy's Hideaway Heist

Deck 8

Jaimie's is just awful

Dazzles side stage makes for a bigger dance floor, but impossible to really see the band unless you are on the dance floor, or at the bar

Deck 9

No little balconies overlooking Central Park

Decks 11/12

Wonderland was one and done for me. According to HD, it doesn't get a lot of repeat business

Deck 15

No Solarium Pool. I will add that because of this, they keep kids out of the Sports Pool. That's nice

They seem to have fixed the plastic panels in the Solarium roof. Not sure how long that will last, though. They are unbearably noisy when broken.

Beach Pool has no umbrellas, or tables in the wet area. Horrible design

Mini Bites is just not up to par with El Loco Fresh

Deck 16

No bar on the starboard side

But with all that, I continue to sail her because of departure port convenience.

Every time we drive to south FL for a cruise, after about an hourin the car Laura asks why we are not sailing out of PC. 🤣

Looking forward to Wonder this winter

What I like about Allure as she is now

Mama Mia

Champagne Bar

DL for coffee

Hall of Odds outside the casino

But that's not enough to make me travel to sail on her

Once she's fully amped and still has Mama Mia, I'd likely fly to sail her from Galveston

Agree 99%. One exception: I love Grease.
I would rather have the Allure in PC than Harmony.
Harmony has the worst chairs on the port side of the ship.
Allure has the best seating out of the sun on the pool deck, port side.
I’m booking as many free casino Allure cruises before she goes to Galveston.

Are you referring to the smoking cubes under the main pool seating. Some folks really hate walking through there, the smoke lingers.

Removed that feature on Oasis. I'm guessing it goes away on Allure eventually

As many know, not a fan of that slide Abyss, maybe they can sell it to Carnival for one of their ships.  Just don't put one on anymore Royal ships🤣
