I apologize for the sidetrack.

Hoping you enjoy the rest of the cruise!!!

Spins,  no need to apologize!!!!  Each segment of this voyage has been different.  And every passenger will have a different experience.  I  just shared musings on my current experience. 😁

Also, I am sure I saw a wandering albatross last night as we crossed the North Atlantic. All the bird references say they’re Southern Hemisphere birds, but it really  looked like the pictures. What other birds are that large and hang out so far from land?

I am definitely adding lots of birds to my life list on this trip!

Charles; if you get the chance please give Paolo a hearty, "Ciao," from Wes; he was our HD on the Dawn maiden voyage back in April.  Keep enjoying your cruise and pass warm regards to Elaine.

Yesterday we were docked in Torshavn, Faroe Islands.  We took at took called Scenic Faroes which took us the the village Gjogv at the northeast tip of the island of Eysturoy about 63 km from Torshavn.  Beautiful ride and beautiful village.  Here are some pics.....

The village of Gjogv...

Boy, the remoteness of that place scares even me.  How far are they from groceries and medical care?

Fish ladders so the salmon can swim upstream.

Looks like they need some more water for there to be a stream for the fish to swim.

Was thinking the same thing about how small and remote Gjogv is.  A town where everyone knows your name...

Apparently about 25 people live there.  Many of the homes there are holiday homes.  Guide said that sometimes in the winter the town is completely cut off because the roads into it are very steep and windy.  The tour bus went into and out of the place very, very slowly.  Guide said that groceries and medical care service are done by way of helicopter for some of the islands.  Some of the islands are connected by tunnels and bridges.  See the bus in the picture below  mid-frame a tad right of center.....

The Faroes are the most beautiful non-tropical islands I’ve ever been to.  So incredibly green with stunning vistas.  Thanks for the photos Mysty and Z.  Hope you don’t mind if I add one here of clouds forming on one of the many peaks with salmon farms in the foreground.

I think it is more beautiful than Iceland. They seem to be more advanced in some ways..

They went to a lot of trouble to make it to google maps. Guide said they are now on  Microsoft.

Oh! And by the way their liquor laws are about as bad as Canada’s

You have to place your order and pick it up at the post office. But you can buy it by the

drink at a restaurant. They were losing business.
