another odd question for anyone on board...I was just looking at the patters and it seems on the sea day there was no MDR open for lunch...also saw none listed as open on embarkation day....are they not doing lunch in one of the MDR on this cruise?

Not sure where you were looking. Above in the posted patters the Coral Dining Room was open for lunch on embarkation day and again on day 3 sea day.

Sorry, if I confused folks.  Yes, dining room is open on sea days, closed on port days.  I will blame my previous post on the Mojitos.

Received paperwork about in transit last night.  No discussion of testing before the second week.

as i stated i read them as they were posted and was told they were out of order later then was told in a post MDR NOT OPEN ON SEA DAYS.  The OP has come back and corrected...i went with the words of the poster who was on board. knowing they are having issues with crew shortages thought perhaps things had  changed so I went with actual experience of someone on board...it has already been stated it was a mishap and a confusion on my part taking the post of patters in order so please lets not hijack this thread of the mishap which has now been corrected by the OP.

On board now.  Did anyone get a casino VIP gift to their room last night?  We usually get something on formal night but didn't this time.  Hard to find out why because left hand doesn't know what right hand is doing on this ship.  It is getting VERY frustrating.

We'll be on our first casino comp'd cruise June 4.  Not sure what to expect but as we were piling up the points on our last cruise for this one we did get chocolate covered strawberries and champaign.  What were you expecting?

A few observations as I wrap up week one.

When I went ashore, I never saw a station to buy water bottles.  Rarely did I see a towel bin, so I picked those items up the day before.

Cabin was cleaned morning and evening, but getting ice was hit or miss.

When I returned from the show last night, not one light was one.  Even Motel 6 leaves a light on for you.

Short on some items.  I mentioned earlier that I picked 5 reds, 4 by the glass that were unavailable. Today I decided to try an ice cream sandwich at Cones and Coffee.  I think they have 6 flavors.  Only 1 flavor available today.  Could be supply issues.

These aren't meant as complaints.  I'm happy to be on my first cruise since the pandemic started.  I mention these to help folks adjust expectations if you haven't been sailing recently.  I hear many complaining around the ship, but staff shortages and food supply issues are happening all over.

Time to see show.

Tonight I received a gift from the casino. A set of packing cubes, a folding sun hat and a large tube inside a rectangle piece of material that says PRINCESS PLAYERS CLUB. Does anyone know what you’re supposed to do with the material?  What is it?

Read that there are many Covid cases resulting from the previous repositioning cruise.  What's happening now on the Caribbean Princess health-wise?  What are the precautions?  We are sailing in a couple of weeks and concerned.

Finally got mine too.  Makes no sense to give gifts after everyone has packed....oh well.  Thanks for the reply.

@Tak8  are they back to doing gangway pics at the ports yet...or embarkation photos in the terminal?

Yes, I did notice they were taking photos at the ports.  I don't remember about embarkation.

I haven't hear anything about COVID cases on the first week of this cruise.  No enforced mask wearing.  They encourage washing hands before going into the buffet and they have hand sanitizer throughout the ship.  Buffet is self serve or small plates that you pick up.  Staff hands you the plate and napkin with utensils.  Staff are always wearing masks.

Time to get ready to get off for a, fingers crossed, short time in the terminal.

You would hope if they were going to test you in the terminal, they would have at least given you a heads up. Afterall, all of your belongings are still in your cabin, to include any valuables in your safe. 🤞

I would be interested in hearing how the in transit went.  How many of you were there?  Did they ever ultimately test you (I'm assuming not with the change in policy but you never know)?  How quickly were you back on board?

Those packing cubes work surprisingly good. The “tarp” or whatever it was seems useless and the bucket hat is just not my style

We've been using packing cubes for years.  Makes packing simple and if you use them right your clothes will be almost wrinkle free.

No testing done.  We met in Princess Theater about 915.  We were escorted off about 945 and back on board about 1030.  Customs didn't even look at passport, they had facial screening.  One of the workers mentioned there were about 500 returning passengers.

I'm just off the Caribbean Princess.  We had a great cruise until yesterday.  Our cabin had plumbing issues.  The toilet backed up and overflowed.  Our cabin steward told us that all of the 700 cabins on all floors on both sides of the ship had problems.  Supposedly the problem was solved last night, but we were not informed of that until we were walking off the ship.  Right now I'm not remembering any of the good parts of the cruise, only last nights plumbing problems.  Good luck to anyone staying in the aft portion of the ship.

Do you mean all cabins starting with #7 had this problem?

They were taking embarkation photos on deck 6 this afternoon.  Not sure if they were doing them in other places.

A couple of things different this cruise.

I received an invite to the platinum and elite members reception for Wednesday evening.  I didn't receive one last week.

I also had a suite breakfast order form waiting on my bed.  I didn't get any last week, but I also have a new cabin person this week.

There has been discussions before about benefits of booking 2 7 day or 1 14 day.  I booked a 1 14 day.  I received a second mini bar set up.  I also received another complimentary specialty restaurant dinner.

Here is the patter for tomorrow.
