After May 17, 2022, what happens if you test positive on board?

Can anyone point me to the policy (or to a post on CC)  regarding what celebrity will or will not do for you if you test positive while on board and you sail after May 17? The policy posted on Celebrity website details what C will do for you if you test positive AND you sail by May 17 but no mention of what happens after that.  I realize they may quarantine you on board for remainder of the cruise, but in terms of the other stuff mentioned in the pre-May 17 policy (offering a place to stay on board if you need to quarantine post-cruise, helping with getting you home, etc.) what can we expect?

The policy does not say they will do anything after May 17 for sailings from US ports. The option to stay onboard remains for sailings from ports in Europe and UK.

I’d take it for what it says. Buy travel insurance in case something does not go as planned.

How exactly will this work if you test positive while on board and the  pre May 17 policy is no longer in place? If the ship docks while you have been quarantined by the ship, will they just open your cabin door and ask you to disembark? Not saying they should or they shouldn’t. Just wanting to to know,  (not a question of insurance per se because I do have trip insurance. Just wondering about the process.)

Lots of details on the FAQ but need to read carefully different rules for European and U.S. Sailings.  In my case before May 1 they provided financial assistance and would either book a place for us or we could book ourselves.   After that the escorted us off the ship in Southampton into a terminal full of passengers and we were on our own.    We self quarantined.

I am on a U.S. sailing in June and you can see it is silent about post May 17  help from Celebrity. And it may be just that COVID after then is  treated like any other communicable disease that someone contracts while on board (norovirus) In those types of cases where they have you in quarantine and the ship docks, do they just let you disembark and go your own way?

I would hope you get to return to the ship’s departure port to make your way home rather than requesting you leave ship.

just stay in cabin until returning to port

Just staying in the cabin will cause the room attendant to report something amiss.... possibly, and you would get a visit...

In health and bon voyage

I am confused a bit  -- I am asking about what happens at the end of the voyage and I have been quarantined, not at one of the ports.  I assume I just go ahead and get off the ship with everyone else....?

If you are still under quarantine you would be escorted off the ship separate from other passengers but after that you are on your own.

If you are cruising out of Canada, they require the cruiseline to pay for 5 days quarantine and meals after the the sailing.  Someone posted it on another thread.

If the cruise disembarks in Canada and you tested positive during the cruise.

Yes. I think the point is that Celebrity is no longer providing financial or logistical support for US cruises. People are still under CDC guidelines to finish any required quarantine, but you are on your own for that.

test yourself on the cruise dont wait till you get off the ship

I’m curious to know if that has worked for anybody. It is bound to happen sooner rather than later. What is the outcome because technically you did not test positive during the cruise and were not under quarantine?

Yes sorry - I just assume everyone can read my mind LOL and that I meant return to Vancouver (alaska on the brain! haha).  I have my self test kits packed and will test on my own and then have them test me if anything comes up onboard so they have to follow the Canadian rules.

See post #16 and let us know how it goes if you test positive.

I understand the reasoning. I’m just wondering what makes Celebrity any less responsible for those who disembark and test in the terminal with a Celebrity-provided test - or in Canada Place just a few feet away - or even at the airport. All just left the ship where they were positive, just not confirmed.

Also wondering how they will handle people who bring their own tests onboard and test positive the day before debark In Vancouver.  We did this last week and, thankfully, were negative.  You notify medical the day before debark that you tested positive on your own test... will they just conveniently NOT manage to get to you for the Celebrity testing prior to the next morning debark?  Will be interesting to see how this goes.

Celebrity isn't testing anyone. They would make you quarantine once you told them you were positive. Then you would be taken off the ship separately at debark and left on your own to figure out how you are getting home.

Sounds terribly unfair to the poor cabin steward who will now be exposed, to say nothing of any others around.

They wear masks as well. Again for mild symptoms I won’t volunteer and get isolated when most likely other mild cases swirling.

and crew I believe will also for mild cases keep working.

on Wonder my steward was ill last couple days and perhaps was ill but kept working.

Yup.. this is what you can expect.   Then dumped in a terminal with about 250 unmasked guests.
