Just checked and it says the Slanted Door is closed for renovations until late 2022....😟  we will be there the beginning of September....

Bummer of major magnitude!
Of course, there are many many great restaurants in SF. But, if it’s walking distance desired, my Plan B would be Scoma’s at Fisherman’s Wharf both for the food and the “old school” SF vibe straight out of a Film Noir movie.

Thanks - we are Scoma lovers and had already looked into making a reservation.....too early but will reserve when they open up for September...

We have a group lunch for Dim Sum on the first day, but we're there two days. Thanks for the recommendation, we'll look in to it.

Go check the next 8-day CA coast (Sept 17 which I think you are also on). YWYW is not available at all (O-Life is 4/cabin); similar itinerary (one port difference). It was practically empty before the Ultimate O-Life promo, so maybe that is why. Now that's a weird comparison...almost apples to apples, but totally different YWYW.

I didn’t realize that until you mentioned it. Very interesting.

DimSum group lunch? Sounds like you may be on a cruise with everyone’s favorite California Coastal TA.

If you’re doing ship’s tours, there may be an evening one doing the local sights in old VW vans complete with 60’s music. It’s a fun flashback.

Back to Slanted Door for food. Other nearby options include Number 1 Market (foot of Market Street at the Embarcadero- near the Ferry Building) and the Fog City Diner also close to the ship.

Both tourists and locals love Scoma’s at fisherman’s wharf. It IS old San Francisco.

I'm putting in another plug for Scomas.  We were just there in May and it was still delicious.

If my O life includes 14 free shore excursions for the cabin   Does it have to be divided evenly?

I do not believe so

I have seen other post that they took  more tours than their spouse in the same cabin

Best to check  with O  just in case

A follow up.  Once we have all 7 free O-life excursions in place and booked. To get YWYW we need to pay for 3 more.

Two of the additional are pricy, but something we like.  To finish the 10, there is a hop-on bus in Corfu for only $25.00.  If we book that it will know off $150 each on the other two.

Will that work.

Check your Oceania invoice. The O Life tours number per cabin is always split evenly under each name in the amenities section listing. As aforementioned, on a multi-segment cruise they are also split per segment according to what is the normal allocation of each segment.

If you also check the very important prepurchased shore excursions pdf math document sent by Oceania with their updated invoices, you’ll see why (particularly if you’ve added paid excursions - including enough to meet the YWYW minimum for your cruise). All of the automatic calculations in that pdf (which are then reflected in your onboard account) are based on the even split per person and the per segment listing if it’s a multi-segment cruise.
Also, auto assignment of O SBC (O Club or O Life) to pay part or all of any tours balance due is also calculated per person.

Of course, you can always call O for pre-cruise purchase of tours and ask for an exception. However,  if it is allowed and then O cancels tours before/during your cruise, the auto-calculations that generate refunds/reassignment of O Life tours (reprioritized by price if you’ve added paid tours) would be FUBAR.

Ok, but there are exceptions. You're making cruising more complicated than it needs to be.

Noooo.......

On our current two segment finale to the ATW cruise on Insignia there have been numerous tour cancellations schedule flip flops - so much so that we received new/changed tix and explanatory letters on at least eight occasions in the last three weeks. I even had to correct a relatively new Destination Services person regarding prioritization of replacement O Life tours for those that had been cancelled.

What I posted above is what every O regular who uses O Life and YWYW tours should know in order to not sit there scratching their heads when trying to balance their onboard account statement (where it is not uncommon to find all sorts of occasional errors).
And BTW, understanding O’s invoices and stated policies is not complicated at all. The problem is that some folks just don’t take the time to read the fairly simple rules.

it probably would be better to call Oceania & speak with a rep  that is familiar with the O Life tours

Choose the O Life free ones first   then go from there

Here is a stupid question. What is an O Life tour and what makes it different from others?

Price??

The O Life included tours  (if you take O Life as your perk)  are ones WITHOUT  a letter designation in the description

Usually shorter in length  sometimes just  a drive by  read the descriptions carefully

If it has letters  next to the walking people then it is not included in the O Life

Well almost correct. The true dividing line is price: $199 and under for allowed O Lfe, even with letter designations (e.g., like GL and the fitness one (can’t remember the letters used)). I know this for sure because the cruise we’re on right now had a couple of letter designated ones that were ok for our O Life.

On our upcoming Barcelona to Rome, in Catania there is a tour, Streets & Local food for

$199 it is marked GL. Would this be ok for O-life

NO

It has a letter designation

see the T & C for O Life rules

"OLife Choice free shore excursions vary by voyage and exclude Oceania Select, Oceania Exclusive, Executive Collection, Food & Wine Trails, Wellness Discovery Tours by Aquamar, Go Local and Culinary Discovery Tours. "

Nothing special about it. Often the T&Cs and Ticket Contract folks refer to are old or have not been updated. It used to be that the only letter designated tours were OS and OE, neither of which is eligible for O Life allocation.

However, in the past few years, a variety of other letter designations have been added like GL (Go Local). They are OK for O Life as long as they’re under the $199 cap.

If you don’t believe that, maybe this pic of a free GL tour BOD-GL5 (net price $0; original price $149) will convince you.5DCEAB7E-7E24-4115-82C6-A7E19316DEAC.thumb.jpeg.8cb19066b1ead5c9edb326dc3305145e.jpeg

Maybe just like the bringing wine aboard policy   😄

The rules are there  but not enforced or used  only when  needed
