Where you able to sign up for this before the cruise or on embarking

Have to wait till the next day at 8am, first you need to set the clock one hour back the night before and get in line early, I got there at 7am and there was already 15 people waiting already. Look for the Soul Play post.

The staff is amazing.  Our room steward Putu room 6234 was the best we have had in 20+ cruises.  The casino staff also stood out.  If you go, look up Richmond, he will bring a smile to your face.  He and the casino team were very kind and "patient" with someone learning some of the table games.

The only thing that we didn't like was that there was a staff smoking area just below our room on deck 4 and the smoke rose and was very bothersome on the balcony and came into our room.  We came back from an  excursion and our room smelled like a cigar.  Yuck!

I am on 6234 next year for my first Alaska cruise.  How is the cabin other than the smoke?

The cabin in nice.  It has a ramp to get out on the balcony that you have to be careful with.  It has less closet space than most cabins.  We managed by using hooks and other areas for storage.  You can always bring additional command hooks for jackets and such.

The location is near the elevator which is nice.  There is a steward closet next to the room which can create a little noise every once in a while.  As long as people don't congregate right outside your door to discuss where they are going, it is great.  A couple of times, we had to open the door and ask them to move into the elevator area or down the hall.  People were very apologetic.

We love the ease of getting around the Spirit class ships. They never feel crowded.  Another benefit is the variety of rooms available on the Spirit class. Our personal favorite is the Vista Views, but we have tried the bowling alley balconies and the French door( now French windows) inside cabins and enjoyed those too.

I am taking Spirit through the big ditch 9/20. I was on Miracle last month and really enjoyed my bowling alley. For Spirit I selected a rear balcony to enjoy the seafoam. I am intrigued by the possibility of an art class aboard. I'll load some Bob Ross episodes on my phone, so I can brush up!

There is something similar.  It is not Seafood Shack but there was one section of the buffet that had a variety of for purchase seafood if you choose.

Did this replace the Chinese buffet (not Mongolian Wok but a buffet of cooked Chinese food)?  I haven't been on Spirit since before it went to Australia but the Chinese buffet was always a nice break from the Lido lunch buffet with the same dishes fleetwide.

The layout of the spirit seems much different than other Carnival ships with the comedy club on the 1st floor adjacent to rooms. I have heard the layout is cumbersome compared to other Carnival ships. What are your opinions? It is suppose to come to Mobile for 6 and 7 day cruises in Oct 23, maybe.
