Where to stay in New York Prefer Marriott

We love the Marriott Marquis and have stayed there several times.  When sailing out of the Manhattan Cruise Terminal, though, we prefer either the Comfort Inn or the Holiday Inn Express.  They're next to each other on West 48th Street, just a block from the cruise terminal (it's a short walk and slightly downhill from the hotel to the ship).  They aren't the Marriott, of course, but they are very convenient, inexpensive, feature a complementary breakfast, and are close enough to Times Square and Restaurant Row to provide plenty of options for the evening prior to your cruise.  Another option might be the Ink 48 Hotel, a four-star property, also on W 48th, that actually is even a bit closer to the cruise terminal.  We haven't stayed there as we have the others, but it does look inviting.

We stayed at the Ink 48 prior to a cruise and we enjoyed it.  Depending on which way your room is facing you may be able to see the ship at the pier in the morning.

Going on a cruise on the Prima in April.   Flying in on Friday and leaving on Sunday We prefer to stay at Marriott's.

Marriot properties we've used pre or post NY cruises

Sheraton Times Square on 7th and 52nd and Fairfield on West 58th..

Both are short cab rides from pier.

Of course there are dozens of Marriott properties in mid-town NY that can serve as a 2 day base to enjoy NYC pre-cruise.

Since I used to live in NY and have seen all the "sights" we just stay at the LGA Marriott

then take a cab to the cruise  terminal in the morning. It is easy to get the shuttle from the terminal

building to the hotel and it is free. Then we just have one cab ride to pay for the next morning.

We stay at the Hilton Garden Inn at Times Square (yeah, not Marriott). But, the Times Sq area is the "touristy" with a lot of things in easy walking distance and lots of food.

We like staying around Time Square.

AC Hotel on 40th. Ask for a room facing the alley. There’s a rooftop restaurant bar.

Residence Inn on 6th Ave.

We take the subway into the city and a taxi to the port. Both hotels are a couple blocks from the subway and an easy walk with a carryon bags.

Last month we stayed at the Downtown Marriott, It also had a nice sports bar in it with good food. It  was a 5 minute walk to the 911 memorial and a 10 minute walk to Battery Park. I was really surprised of the size of the Raging Bull of Wall Street. Taxis were lined up in the morning to take you to the cruise terminal. It took about 1/2 Hr in traffic and they drop you off at the door of the terminal.

I used to stay at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Downtown/WTC Area for work. You can get to Battery Park, Trinity Church, and WTC easily for some tourist activities. I like walking up to Brookfield Place to get a bagel from Black Seed Bagels and enjoying it while looking out on the Hudson.

In September we stayed at Ink 48 (not a Marriott property, so I'd go with the above if you want to use your Bonvoy points) which is within very easy walking distance of the pier if you want to be right there. It's a fun neighborhood to walk around in during the evening with the Intrepid lit up and a few clubs around.
