Le Petit Chef - Worth giving up a Luminae night for?

Fun evening, especially if you have OBC to use or want something different to focus on during dinner.  People of all ages seem happy and amused dining, which is part of the fun.  Great for kids, and makes for a good topic of conversation.  Go early to avoid the noise seeping in from the martini bar.  The menu is what it is, so check it out beforehand.  And, in many ways, it's one more place to have a filet mignon (likely cooked in batches and heated before being served). Have not eaten at Cut or the Grill on Edge or any tasting experience, but don't expect a charbroiled / seared steak.

Also, good way to change up the dinner venue.  Was good about allergies.

Unless it's the Reflection you can do a casino room charge for the remaining OBC amount, cash out and take the voucher to the cashier for cash

Is the ultimate dining package (covering all meals in specialty) back, or was that for dinners only?

I've never seen it offered on X (or on my most recent Equinox sailings) but it's on RCI, most likely they were confusing RCI's UDP for X's 3 nights of specialty dinner package

X did offer it briefly - we had it on a Reflection cruise back in 2015 or 2016 - but they stopped offering it shortly thereafter and it hasn't returned, to my knowledge. It was an AMAZING deal on ships with the Porch available for lunch.

Thanks, didn't realize that.  I did sail on the Equinox most recently 2.5 months ago and that package wasn't offered nor is it offered on any of my upcoming sailings

New to LPC.  I am in the app looking at dining for my solstice cruise in February.  Scrolling through, then menu is the same on days 1-4 and changes on day 5 and says it has the boulillabaisse and lobster tail. (I assume this is when the main dining room offers lobster tail?) Day 6 Has a Spring, Summer, Fall Winter Menu and Day 7 repeats day 6.

Do these seem like accurate menus?  My son will be 3 days shy of 16 when we disembark so wanted to have a special almost birthday dinner.  Was thinking this would be the choice.

Unless anyone can sneak him into Aqua - the one restaurant that "looked cool" on Edge. 😉

I wouldn't bank on anything the app says this far in advance.  Maybe look at a current sailing on the same ship and see what they're doing for a better idea.  They do rotate the menus but I'm not sure if it's on a set schedule and of course each ship can (will) do things differently.

I assume you know access to Blu is limited to AquaClass by your comment.  The only guests that I have heard about are if a single person is traveling alone in AquaClass and wants to invite someone in to dine with them, or if you're in a suite and there is space available.  However, if he just wants a picture, it wouldn't hurt to ask the maitre d' if & when it would be possible to take a quick peek.

I would 100% try LPC as it’s so different and not available at home. Do not do it on evening chic night so as not to miss lobster in luminea.

I thought LPC offered lobster on that same night , we had reservations for it last week but it was canceled since there were not enough people? Lobster in Luminae was one of there best dish’s , this was on beyond last week.

LPC offers different menus on the same cruise.  On our last cruise 10+ days there were 3 different menus and you could choose your night based on the menu you liked best.  Our suite covered it and we went twice (it was a long cruise).  Our food was very good.  I did note the price and I wouldn't pay that up charge over Luminae,  unless I had a lot of OBC and had never experienced LPC.

On the Silhouette in October, the LPC offered three different shows/menus.

We booked a cruise on Eclipse for June and since I booked the Aqua-class we have access to Blu. I am fine eating there most nights, and while in Port I will want to try to eat locally vs on ship.

I was wondering if it is even worth doing a specialty Dining night and from what is available I was thinking Le Petit Chef for the novelty. Is LPC more for kids though? I don't want to feel like I am Chuck E Cheese.  I would love to do the Chef's table but without knowing the menu I am very hesitant. I don't like too much seafood (and allergic to shellfish) - my luck it will be all seafood! Wish they would post the menu.

I believe the original question is whether or not it's worth giving up a night in Luminae for dinner in Le Petit Chef.  Based on my experience, I would say no.  I've been once because specialty dining was free with my suite.  We had the lobster menu.  It was fine, but I wouldn't have paid the upcharge or considered it worth the upcharge.

I would take Le Petit Chef over Luminae every night. Our Luminae experience on our Apex cruise was a D+ at best.

May I ask what made it a D+ at best, IYO?  I have seen individual app/entree offereings disliked, but never seen anyone say overall it being a D+.

On more than one occasion they lost our food orders. The last time we just got up and left. We did tell the manager on duty about the issues. They sent a bottle of wine and asked us to come back. We didn't since the MDR was better.
