Walking to the Port

I googled the walking distance from our hotel to the cruise port, Berth 46.  It is only 14 minutes away.   I was wondering if anyone has walked to the port  or should we just take a taxi.

If the weather is OK I walk from the Premier Inn on West Quay. Ocean Terminal is almost a mile flat going and takes me half an hour but i walk slowly.

We've done both depending on which hotel we've booked and if it's a nice day. It's sometimes quicker depending on the time as there can be queues for the traffic

It's walkable, but will possibly take longer when dragging your cases.

I often walk as I only have a small rucksack as hand luggage; my main suitcase goes ahead with the Baggage Handling Company. 13 minutes to City Terminal from Holiday inn or Premier Inn West Quay. About 22-30 minutes to the further terminals.

Good  aren't they.    Done it twice now and it's goodbye to it on the doorstep and hallo again in the cabin.   Worth every penny

I have walked from Holiday Inn to both Ocean, City and Mayflower terminals. Easy!

I've been walking to both Ocean and Mayflower terminals from Southampton Central for years. I used to pay for taxis, then there was a free bus to Town Quay for a while, which went on to charge a pound or two. But the buses became fewer and far between. I love the walk now. It's all part of the cruising experience for me. Mind you, I'm not getting any younger, and when my longer cruises come around, with the need for more than one suitcase, it won't be practical. But a lovely memory from the first of my two recent Iona cruises is walking along the main road towards Ocean terminal under my own steam and seeing Iona for the first time. That will stay with me forever.

I don't think I ever travel light enough to make the walk to any of the terminals pleasant - but then I seldom do a cruise of fewer than 12 nights and often do 16 or more.

We have walked it in the past , stopped off for coffee at  Starbucks occasionally too if walking to Ocean Terminal but for the sake of a few quid I prefer Uber now.
