Rare cruisestitch Posted December 22, 2022 #26 Share Posted December 22, 2022 I believe that the only repo cruises that follow different rules are the ones where the ship moves to or from Puerto Rico. An exception to the distant foreign port requirement is made for those cruises. Otherwise, the other repositioning Cruises, such as the ones from Port liberty to Florida, must visit a distant foreign port.

Need to arrive well before sailaway. Don't know what USCG deadline is for her sailing but this is from X web site: If you’re planning to arrive later, make sure you know when embarkation check-in ends, as this is usually before your ship sets sail. For coast guard purposes, the check-in time ends earlier, and if you get there after that cut-off time you won’t be able to board, even if the ship hasn’t pulled away from port yet. kwokpot Posted December 22, 2022 #30 Share Posted December 22, 2022 And this is why in the winter it's prudent to fly to the embarkation port the day before, not the day of. 2

Just had to let Celebrity know This is for May of 2023...disembarking from Naples instead of Civi/Rome. I called and asked; so did my TA. We were both given the same answer...hmmm! Well, I can definitely call a corporate number that I have and ask, but it was due to Covid that we could not disembark from Beyond, so just do not understand why this is the case for some, yet not others...who you talk with always makes a difference, so I will let you know if I receive a different answer. What date/year was your cruise? Were you charged for this? Edited December 23, 2022 by Lastdance

What date/year was your cruise? Were you charged for this? This was fall of 2019 so yes, things may have changed. We were charged a small amount (not sure how much or what for). When the ship docked in Naples we were checked out and escorted off the ship. Even in the post Covid period, I don't see why it matters if you get off and stay off. You would have been getting off at that port anyway and they don't do any health checks to get back on in Naples.
Rare cruisestitch Posted December 23, 2022 #37 Share Posted December 23, 2022 Depending on the port and itinerary there may be a need for local authorities to be on site for a disembarkation. There may be some paperwork from the cruise line to the local authorities to make the arrangements or at least to inform them. And there is definitely a need for some special arrangements on the ship to close out the account ahead of schedule. The cruise lines are understaffed, both on the ship and on shore, and it may be that a blanket denial of the requests is related to that. So what was possible in 2019, may not be possible in 2023. But back to the OP, I wonder what the situation is there. Did the fiancé make it to the ship?

If our flight is significantly delayed, we will miss the ship. I called the day of number posted above over the weekend. Our first port is Key West, we thought we could just drive there and meet the ship. They will not allow us to board. Due to the Jones Act, if embarking in a US port, you must disembark at the same port. Port 2 is Belize, we cannot board there since it is a tender port. They would allow us to board on Day 5 in Cozumel (on a 7 night cruise). Trip insurance (Nationwide) would cover the cost to get us to the ship as a missed connection. We called to proactively know our situation since the weather concerns have been present for the last week here. Unfortunately, we were unable to move our departure earlier. Good luck, hopefully she will be able to catch up soon! I had a coworker from a long time ago that missed embarking on Horizon at Port Everglades because of an infamous security disruption at ATL causing them to miss their connecting flight to FLL. They and a dozen other passengers got to the pier just in time to see Horizon sailing off on the horizon. Celebrity bussed them to the next port (Key West) where they were able to board and enjoy the rest of the cruise.

You should always book a flighr a whole day before. In the winter I book two days before. Even if bad winter weather is not in your local area storms a thousand or two miles away affect flights.
