FCD: OBC reduction?

If this has been beaten to death, my apologies!

 

Just returned from from my TA's office booking a  day cruise r/t YVR in May on the Crown.

When we went to apply my FCD, I was informed that I was only going to get $50 instead of $100

for a 10 day cruise. $150 for 17 days? That pretty much takes the incentive out of buying FCD's. I have attached the new schedule.

What does this mean for Military and Shareholder OBC?

Just checked my FCD letter from 2019 and there does not appear to be any change to the amount of onboard credit for each cruise length or stateroom category

Well even back in 2019 it was $50 for 7-10day cruise in a balcony or above stateroom and Italy 52 says the rates are the same as shown for  a FCD purchased Aug 2022.  Am I missing where the cganges/ reductions are ?

It used t be $100 for a 7 day cruise, $250 for 14 days and up. I received $100 for each of my 7 day cruises in 2022.

That's our experience as well.  The change was made well prior to 2019.   We still get OBC back, and the $100 down is our deposit.  Still seems like a good deal to me.  Here's a quote from a FCC letter from 2015:
Effective Date: May 6, 2015
Book By Date: May 4, 2017

This letter confirms that we have received payment for deposit* in the amount of 100.00 USD towards a future cruise with Princess.
Upon making your new booking, the appropriate shipboard credit will be applied.*
Future Cruise Length Per Person Shipboard Credit*
17 + Days $125 Inside, $125 Outside, $150 Balcony, $150 Suite

This appears to be the same as in the past. Perhaps the OP is confusing the FCD OBC with the Shareholder OBC. Below is what I have seen for a long time:

OBC for Referral

$25 for each referral - both you and the one referred get this. They must NOT be a past Princess cruiser and must NOT already have a cruise booked with Princess

 

OBC for Loyalty

This has been removed by Princess so is no longer applicable.

I don't think it's changed for a while.  I've checked my last couple of 2022 cruises ( mix of 7 and 10 day) and we got $50 FDC OBC for each.

Below are the FCD amounts from 2014. Basically look the same. The 10 day cruise for balcony and above was $50 in 2014 as it is now. Nothing to do with the current Princess management. I do remember way back  the OBC for a 10 day balcony cabin was higher, $100 I think, but believe that was back prior to 2014 maybe as early at the 2000s. Sometime prior to 2014 Princess moved the thresholds up one day from 10 days to 11 and from 16 days to 17. I don't see any difference in shareholder or military OBC offers.

even if it did change (Which from what I can tell, it hasn't for some time,)  there is value with paying a smaller deposit.  True, sales do come up with small deposits, but this gives one complete freedom to book with limited out of pocket costs too.
