Does AARP actually send out physical gift cards or do you just apply the code from an email or something?  If so, do you do this ahead of your cruise or once on board?  Thanks!

It will be an e-card-you will receive an e-mail from AARP-

click a link to view the gift card, which will have the card # and pin-you can use that to pay for the cruise, or any purchases on the website.

Once onboard, you can apply the amount of the cards to your cabin-

Either write down the required #'s or if you will have WIFI, just bring up the e-mails on your phone. You can also download the cards to your G-pay wallet (or I guess Apple Pay)-I'm an Android user

And you could do a screengrab of your card so it's in your photos in case you don't have wifi package.

So, once I am able to put the gift card on to my account. If I needed some cash to take ashore could I then go to guest services to obtain cash that would come off of my account?

No, they will not give you cash

2 questions...

Is there a reason not to wait until you're actually on board to purchase these AARP gift cards if you have the wifi package or will there be a delay in receiving them?

Is it still possible to load them to a slot machine and cash them out through the casino?

Thanks.

I believe they sometimes sell out.

Also depending on what else you have recently charged to your credit card, it could raise a red flag with your credit card company (multiple purchase in different states because you are traveling)  and your credit card could be locked until you can call and confirm the charges (hard to do while at sea) and could cause some problems if you also used that credit card for your sail and sign account.

If you are an AARP member, go to    https://www.aarp.org/rewards/transaction/.  Be sure you are signed in to your account.  Click on "Redeem", and on the drop down menu, "Members Only".  Your Carnival gift card choices will show ($450 for a $500 value or $90 for $100 value).  Make your choice and follow through with the final purchasing steps.
